No offence, but who cares? Kanye West is going to ruin the entire show anyway. Tributes or not, I won't be watching.

MTV.. well my MTV channel does not send any music anymore.. teen junk tv series instead.. confused

Only sending music in the early hours in the nighttime.

And believe me that socalled "music" they send during the night sucks big time.. made entirely by computers, machines.. yuck.

MTV had a charm in the 80s and the early 90s..

Now? Looong time since MTV was an important factor in music...... imho....

ok yeah..... eye no I am old now..... a grumpy old man... wink

If MTV is smart, they won't fuck with it. BET nailed it for most people, and if MTV did something, it'd be the bronze medal, at best. He and MJ broke down a lot of barriers on MTV, and really had a decent relationship with them for a long time. History shows that MTV wanted one of pop music's biggest enigmas, and Prince understood the power of being on MTV, at least in those days before there were 150 versions of The Real World or Road Rules.

They'll probably mention him somewhere, I can't see that they wouldn't. In general, I hope there's no big bruhaha about it. I don't trust MTV to do anything good anymore.

(PS I always thought of Prince and MJ ended up stage together, again, it would be on an MTV VMA or Grammy broadcast.)

The MTV audience has to be younger than the AMA and BET awards audience so if there is some kind of tribute it will probably be for less than a minute.

They have to say something about him-he is the reason I flip on MTV to see if they are playing videos of any kind. But I must admilt I like MTV Classic formerly VH1 Classic. It shows videos and such from the 80's and 90's. I love looking at those old videos.

Beautiful, Loved and Blessed

Thank You Prince

In sure they will have a montage for each, separation and have someone say a few words. They couldn't possibly ignore either one of them. No live tributes please.

Whether viewers know who he is or not is besides the point- no one wants to see a musical tribute or even a dance once like they used to do for MTV Icon but a video montage surely. They might not give a shit about Music anymore but they still want to give the appearance they do or else why still have these awards? Therefore they need to show some respect! It's PRINCE - there has to be an acknowledgement of his videos.

Put it this way:

I do not expect them to do a singing tribute. But some sort of acknowlegement IS EXPECTED and required of me. He was a really big deal to the beggining of MTV, and for many years later. It does not bode well for current musicians and their prospects on their future precence on MTV if the will not honor and respect Prince.

If he is not acknowleged, I will never watch that channel again. Ever.

No matter the ©️, Paisley Park "official can never ™️ prince. He gave that to us verbally on Oprah in 1996. You can't take prince away from us, corporate. I mean O ( + >

Ask yourselves this: Do you really want that? No seriously Do you really want that?

MTV has jumped the shark many times I would be satsified with a little montage, a name drop, and some purple backdrop. I mean shit they already ruined MJ's legacy with giving The Bleating Goat Rhianna his award, last time it was Beyonce...

I think I could live without it.

This shit made my day! lol lol lol lol lol

If you're referring to the Video Vanguard Award, I will never let people forget that it was first the George Michael Video Vanguard award, and it was presented to GM by Madonna around 1989. I honestly think most of GM's videos were technologically and artistically way ahead of stuff MJ did. Videos for things like "Fastlove", "Amazing", and "Outside" pushed many limits way more than MJs stuff dared to. While MJ addressed certain things in his videos, and the dancing was always on point, it was still safe in some regards. GM gave ya nipples, at least.

I meant girl nipple, a la "An Easier Affair", "Feeling Good", "Too Funky", etc. I was actually referencing his comment on the TwentyFiveLive DVD, where he says "You can't say I don't give ya nipples", after Dita von Teese on screen during "Feeling Good". It was a funny moment.

It's confirmed BEYONCE will do a small tribute, and rumoured RIHANNA might perform something of PRINCE.
