SUPERBOWL 50 HALFTIME SHOW THREAD: Coldplay headlining w/ guests Beyoncé & Bruno Mars

cool cool These guys...

[You can discuss the game over in this thread http://prince.org/msg/100/421686 - luv4u]

With Coldplay being a mediocre band at best, it's nice to see that NFL had to invite back the best performer of this generation AKA Bruno Mars... yeah, and that Beyoncé chick too lol

It would be intresting to find out that the future picture that shows the height of Beyoncé compared to that of Bruno (cause they'll do a song together), will BLOW the web as it did before with Taylor Swift at the VMAs..

Talkin' bout this lol lol

What could possibly be the best setlist?

I'd say Viva La Vida (A perfect stadium song), Paradise, A Sky Full of Stars, Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall, something by Beyoncé, and finally Uptown Funk by Bruno and his band.

Seeing as it's Superbowl 50, you'd think they would have went all out on the halftime show. Instead of Beyoncé, Coldplay and Bruno they should have gone for a more retro show. People love to look back when it comes to big anniversaries. If I was Mary Superbowl and it was up to me to put the halftime show together, I would have went for Bruce Springsteen, Prince and The Rolling Stones. Now that would have been a memorable halftime show.

You would think but instead we got 2 acts that have performed within the last 3 years and a headlining act that doesn't fit the bill for the 50th edition of an American event. Not saying every performer has to be American but it's ironic how a British EDM group is the top billed act of an all-American spectacle such as this.

^I don't think the Super Bowl selected Beyonce. Her half time show was the lowest in years lol I think she asked to be apart of it just like how she asked John Legend to sing Ledisi's song behind her back neutral . I don't understand how she has so much clout but her receipts show that she is not that popular amongst the general public..but whatever. I could see them asking Bruno since he actualy had high ratings. It would have been nice if they had asked Prince, Tina, or Rolling Stones to be apart of this for the 50 anniversary.

If that's the case, Up With People is still around. They had their 50th anniversary in 2015 and even have a Youtube channel.

Source for Beyonce's ratings?

Also, I think Stevie Wonder would have been perfect for this Super Bowl, especially after his tribute show last year. It would've been nice if at least one of the performers were a veteran act to play off of the generational theme of this year's game. Assuming they'd have chemistry, Stevie/Prince/Springsteen/Stones-Coldplay-Bruno would be better than having Beyonce.

^ When I said in years I was referring to within the last 5 years but here is a chart that shows ratings since 2009 from Nielson. Do you know when they started keeping track? I believe it was most recently.

Katy Perry's halftime performance was seen by 118.5 million viewers, making it the most-watched halftime show ever, according to Nielsen data.

http://www.billboard.com/articles/news/6458264/katy-perry-super-bowl-halftime-record

Thats why I always look at receipts when it comes to Beyonce because her PR exaggerates a lot of her hype and popularity. If she is such the greatest thing in the world, why are her ratings always so low? I would think she would have the highest one.

I love Bruno Mars but I won't be watching. They all seem so out of place with each other.

Agree with others that they should have picked artists or bands that were either relevant or at least born when the Super Bowl started in the 60s. It would have been even cooler to have various acts representing the past 50 years all on one stage together! Now that would be an amazing way to celebrate the big 5-0!!!
The greatest live performer of our times was is and always will be Prince.

All right then,; not that I didn't believe you but I just wanted to see concrete proof. Interesting how until Katy last year, Bruno had the most watched Halftime performance in SB history; even beat Madonna by a million+ viewers, impressive.

To be fair however, 110 million is still a lot of people but in this context and with all the hype and buzz generated for Beyonce, this is pretty telling. She's not quite the star that the media and general public make her out to be. She actually drew less viewers than The Black Eyed Peas for God's sake... lol

^ Its her PR team. I doubt its the general public. Most people I know thinks shes overrated and overexposed and these are people who have also attended her concerts. I am tired of her arrogant antics. I want to see more black female singers shine.

Those halftime ratings have way more to do with the ratings of the game than star power. Every female artist with the exception of Adele is hated overwhelmingly by the majority of America, doesn't mean they don't have a lot of fans.

Girl you and me both! I think its a big mistake to have Beyondoverrated a part of the show, she's already doing everything she can to make it all about her and turn it into the Beyonce Show. Coldplay is supposed to be the headliner but you wouldnt know that by looking at the headlines rolleyes Her dropping her "surprise" new song and video just the day before puts all the anticipation and attention focus soley on her. She's the biggest spotlight whore I've ever seen.

I'm happy to see Bruno performing again but TBH, I find this whole lineup strange. Why is it Coldplay, Beyonce and Bruno? If they wanted to have the last few Halftime show acts be apart then Madonna and Katy Perry should be a part, but they arent...especially since Beyonce's show had the lowest ratings compared to others in the past few years. I definitely think she pulled strings and payed some $$ to be a part of the show this year.

Thats not necessarily true. More people tuned in to watch Bruno Mar's, Madonna and Katy Perry half time than the actual game. lol The receipt's are there. Don't try to make some cheap excuse for some of the artists ratings. razz

Good to see you sis! I know you gonna be hyped for Bruno! lol I am really happy for him! I honestly think the NFL asked Bruno to be apart of this. His ratings were high as hell. Not only were they high, they were higher than the actual game. He needs to drop that album!!!!!!

Hey sis always good to see you! hug Thanks for posting those receipts on the Halftime show ratings #TRUTH. If Bee bored say didnt have the money she has she wouldnt be able to afford the killer PR and Marketing team she has to create the illusion of her being the larger than life superstar that the whole world worships and adores disbelief Her and Jay Z are cons. Nothing but smoke, mirrors, and self created hype.

^ Besides being overrated...They are the main perpuatrators of vulgarity, degration and ignorance of the black community and as an African American woman, I find that greatly disturbing.

We just sit back and allow them to perpetuate this foolishness and its really destroying how we as black people are depicted in the media and just our community as a whole. The reason why they have been given a platform has nothing to do with their star power and more to do with their push for ignorance.

There used as pawns and they push the White man agenda and that is what I have find problematic about them. In addition, they are just horrible people and I am sick and tired of it. Something needs to be done, they can't just get away with this. Black folk need to do better, we focus to much on the wrong things. We never question any of this crap and just accept it for what it is, why is that?

See? That's what I'm talking about. Been to a couple of her tours and they were good, but she's way past her performing peak now and has no self respect and doesn't respect anyone else either for trolling. I'm no Coldplay fan but she's stealing their moment in the most tactless way, and isn't genuine as she wants people to believe

But why though?

I would think they would ask someone like Adele or Taylor Swift. Its crazy how the artists that sell like hot cakes have not been asked to be a part of this or maybe they were asked and did not want to do it? You get acts that have a big draw and that people actually want to see. I think Lady Gaga is very talented but there other picks I probably would have picked over her at least for this year.
