^ Jump is an underrated video. I do think 4 Minutes and Girl Gone Wild were very good post COADF videos.

What do fans think is her best video? For me it's a really tough choice between Like a Prayer and Frozen.

To see M's best videos of the past few years (2001-), you need to see her live shows. The video interludes she has created since the Drowned World Tour are spectacular! Far more artistic and complex than the videos she creates for singles imo.

Madonna looks back on Truth or Dare: 'I sort of gag when I watch it'

The Queen of Pop reflects on her classic 1991 documentary with Andy Cohen.

(Everett Collection)

It’s one of the best music documentaries ever—and offered viewers an unfettered look at one of the world’s biggest celebrities. But what does the film’s subject, Madonna, think about the movie, Truth or Dare, 24 years after its release?

In the new issue of EW, guest editor Andy Cohen sat down with the singer to talk about her upcoming Rebel Heart tour, but the conversation later turned to the classic doc directed by Alek Keshishian, who trailed the singer on her Blond Ambition Tour in the early-’90s. So has the singer revisited it recently?

“I’ve seen bits and pieces from it,” she says. “I sort of gag when I watch it, cause I’m like, ‘Oh my god, I can’t.’ It’s hard to watch myself do anything. I can’t even stand to watch myself in concert, like my last tour.”

Cohen pressed Madonna about why she won’t tune in for repeat viewings of older performances. “I just don’t like to watch it,” she says. “But I think maybe Truth or Dare, I could possibly revisit it right now.”

Cohen praised Madonna’s portrayal in the movie, saying he thought her “arrogance” was “brilliant.”

“The shade was thrown!” Madonna told him. “I’m afraid to watch it. I just think I’m a horrible brat, that’s what I’m afraid of.”

Next month, Madonna returns to the stage with her Rebel Heart tour, kicking off Sept. 9 in Montreal. The singer shared early details about her setlist, which will be a mix of classic songs like “Vogue” along with newer cuts.

“Of course, the thing I’m most excited about doing is my new stuff, because I haven’t done it yet and it’s fresh,” she says. “But I realize that people want to hear my older stuff, so for me it’s always a tricky balance trying to keep some kind of continuity, not only with sound, sonically, but also thematically … a lot of times I have to take the songs and turn them inside out and make them more ironic than straightforward.”

I think the casual fan though would much rather hear an older hit ballad like Take A Bow rather than Joan of Arc.

Yes she considers them first but she usually puts in a decent number of old favorites but often she does change them from the original.

It's actually a misconception among the general public she doesn't do her older music. She actually does a decent amount. Most of her bigger most iconic older hits she has done in some form in the last couple of tours.

I like that GGW is the only non-Warner track besides the Rebel Heart cuts. It doesn't look like it'll be all "edm" rave-y and disco-y based on this lineup, more avant garde and urban. Could be a fun ride.

OK so if this list is to beleived, i am aghast at what she has decided to play from Rebel Heart...its weaker songs imo...most of which i deleted after listening to them a few times...

that said...my comments of "trash" next to some songs are my horror when i realise this woman has the most incredible discography and she chooses to play some of these tracks...she's still pushing buttons this woman.....

Why? Prince is a mainstream artist who has had many hits played on the radio in the 80's and 90's, although maybe not currently.

Prince has far more hits that the average person can name than Kate Bush.

I would never consider Prince an alternative artist.

I like a lot of alternative/indie artists. My current favorite new band is Wolf Alice, but there's not that much interest in them here.

I disagree. Prince is an underground artist whose talent was so potent he made him achieve mainstream success, partly by sheer luck and stars alignment.

And mainstream success got to his head so badly, that he's still stuck with the blockbuster album concept since Diamonds & Pearls. Or maybe Batman.

You can hardly call putting out ATWIAD after Purple Rain a mainstream move.
"Many hits"? That's bullshit when compared to Abba or Garth Brooks or Mariah Carey.

No wonder many have nostalgia of the times when he was a maverick, a dangerous outsider ("1999"). In the nineties, he became Gemini kind of scary : on one hand, he was running after an elusive mega-star status that the public never gave (D&P, TGE, Rave...), on the other hand he was developing a paranoid concept, which is anything but mainstream : Days Of Wild, The Sacrifice Of Victor, Chaos and Disorder...

Controversy doesn't begin to describe it.

Prince may be alternative/non mainstream in how he approaches his career, how he releases music or his persona, but he is not alternative in his actual style of music or songwriting.

Prince to me has alternative leanings.

It's what's always kept him from being as big as he should've been.

Even at his biggest (Purple Rain) he couldn't exorcise the quirks completely.

Around the time when Madonna was planning the Confessions tour, fans were sharing ideas of how they thought the show should be.I came up with this idea where each segment would represent a different dance music era lol It looked sorta like this...

ACT 1---70s disco era----she performs several of her dance songs, but in a 70s disco style/reinvention...throw in a couple of actual disco classics (maybe "Stayin Alive" and "Ring My Bell"?)

ACT 2---early 80s New York nightclub scene----she takes us back to her Danceteria days with songs like "Everybody" and "Physical Attraction".

ACT 3---90s Rave/electronica/techno scene----she takes us to a rave...with songs from her electronica era..."Ray Of Light","Bedtime Story",etc.

ACT 4---"Future Disco"----she celebrates the COADF album with songs that show us where the future of dance music is headed.

I still think this would be a cool idea for a Madonna tour lol
