Janet Jackson's legacy obviously reaches to current acts, and Tinashe is no exception.

Ciara has been acknowleging Janet's influence from day one and I'm happy for her to be able to pay a tribute to her. I think Tinashe has potential. She sounds like she has a better/stronger voice than Ciara, but her routines aren't memorable. That may be a more of a reflection of her choreographers than her, but still.

I believe they could've had a more well rounded assemble to capture the various aspects of her recording career. Janet's reach went far beyond just a black audience. She was equally a Pop star as an R&B star. She influenced more than girls who love to dance. What about the boys? Chris Brown, Omarion, Usher, etc. I'm sure there's plenty more that could give a decent tribute than just the three names released. I wouldn't be surprised if Chris Brown didn't squeeze himself in the line up somehow.

The male artists aren't just Michael fans. I think sometimes they were bigger Janet biters but then stylized (thrown a fedora to wear) after Michael.

Hell yeah it stings! I did not sit through all of that to see Dr. Frankenstein's newest creations, Keisha Cole and Tamar Braxton struting around like peacocks! I wanted to see Janet Jackson perform!

Yeah I suffered through 3+ hours of bullshit just to see the Janet piece. The only other good performance that I was excited and surprised about was the Bad Boy 20 year anniversary performances. Other than that, the award show was disappointing.

Other than the good laugh I got when Diddy fell, I wasn't too thrilled with that either. Hell for that 3 and a half hours, they could have just let Smokey Robinson go through his whole catalog and I'd have been straight with it.

The Janet tribute was sloppy and underwhelming but it was good to see Janet. She looks great.

That Janet tribute was... I feel she cheated her fans--why didnt she perform her new single No Sleeep? They started playing it after Ciara was done performing and when she came out, I thought she was gonna sing it but uh...she only accepted her award and then left. Seeing other people do her dance moves to her old hits was Yeah she looked great, beautiful as always but I dont get why she didnt perform her new single. Even Smokey performed in his own tribute. Would have been great promotion for her new single and her upcoming album.

Yea I have to agree with this. I also think those dancers in the background that were dancing to her new single are her new dancers and its probably the choreography for the song. I felt like she purposely had them dance to make it "appear" like she was going to perform although of course she wasn't. Almost like "Yea you thought I was performing...sike" Performing her new single would have boosted her sales for her song. It also would have been great promotion as you mentioned for her new album and especially for her tour.

Janet's new touring dancers are ALL female. She just added males for the BET Awards, which she was suppose to perform @.
