Did any of you all watch the Queen Latifah show? I just saw online that the show is being canceled and will stop production sometime in March. I hate to see the show go.
I suspect The Real might be the reason Latifah got the axe.
The Real, with it's homegirl, ghetto shenanigans appealed to the mighty young demo the TV execs are slaves to. They looked at those numbers and probably said to themselves they can do better. Tyra Banks is coming back next year. I wonder if it's the same production comapny.
As for The View, yeah they need to call it a day. My view is that when they got rid of the soft, mushy, brainless heart of the show (Sheppard and McCarthy; they really did seem to add something to the show now that you think of it) and replaced them with the cantankerous O'Donnell and the two non-starters) and that guady new set, the show has been rudderless. people are waiting for the hosts to come to blows any day now.
seen the Real once. Little too hood for me. I like Woopie. she seems like the only one that makes sense or that agree with. I feel she shoulda left The View. It seems like they sometimes try an pick a reason to have conflict with Rosie O. like Rosie P appeared to be doing a few days ago. It feels staged. I have come to like the Talk and Wendy.

I'm very upset by this sudden cancellation . The Queen & The Smith's(The executive producers) Put a lot into this positive show. But of course CBS, just like they did Arsenio wouldn't give it a chance. SMH

James "J.L." Lassiter and Will Smith who form Overbrook Entertainment (named after their high school in West Philadelphia) produced Latifah's show for Sony Pictures Television.
The ratings were OKAY, but the pressure was to be a big hit. Apparently, it cost affiliate networks a lot of money to license the show, and some channels had already opted OUT of buying it in next year's budgets.
Wendy built her brand from radio to vh1 to books to her daily talk show. I am a Wendy fan.

I watch it every day. Not by choice, though. We have a TV in our office but we use an over-the-air HD channel antenna, or something like that. All I know is, it's not cable TV.
We get about 15 channels - 12 Spanish channels; 2 Asian channels; and the local NBC affiliate. So I watch NBC all day, every day. Or really, it's on and I mainly use it as background sound.
Queen Latifah isn't bad, but it comes on after lunch so I am usually not paying attention. The only show I really pay attention to is "Dr. Phil". He's a pretty cool dude. I like his show.
I wish we had "Ellen" but her show went to the ABC affiliate a few years ago.
Someone needs to put Meredith Viera out of her misery.
It's fun watching Kathy Lee and Hoda get drunk every day. But it gets old when every guest they have are the exact same guests I saw an hour ago on the "Today" show.

I saw a segment in October where Latifah read off "Survey says half of married women have a backup husband" "HAHAHA!" Latifah interjected "HOW MANY OF YOU WOMEN IN THE AUDIENCE HAVE A BACK UP HUSBAND??? HANDS UP! I SEE YA!!!"
She expected everyone to open up about something so personal when we aren't even allowed to ask if Latifah has a backup husband or wife or who she is dating.
Latifah would also try to get into the business of every guest. I guess that's the difference between a host like Latifah and Wendy Williams. Wendy is much more transparent, and that genuine feeling brings in the audience/ratings.

I know no one is obliged to reveal their sexuality, but when you host an interview show DAILY where you ask other folks' business, not just guests' business but your audience's business too, I don't think it is fair or very genuine to stay so cagey. I am pointing out why Queen Latifah failed to connect with at least part of her potential audience.

Something less distant. As if it was the 1980s was the last time she saw flamboyance. That kid was probably born in 2000 so she wasn't connecting with anyone with that comment.

Then it could be as simple as the show targeting the wrong demo. Queen is over 40 and the lgbt community isn't any more of a monolith than any other. Many a gay person of a certain age doesn't believe in putting their biz on front street.
Come to think of it the demo of daytime tv might be mostly over 40 so perhaps that particular guest is the one who wasn't connecting.

If only I couldn't imagine successful appearance for the same guest on Ellen, but then again I don't know the demo for each show.
