as i know cliche has several meanings and i think mr leeds used that word the right way. at least D'Angelo is clever enough to surround himself with some bad ass musicians. it clearly shows that D'Angelo looks out for musicians that are capable to realize his vision or his idea. at least: THIS is a band. i would go see THAT band anytime without D too! 3rdeye...? maybe for a 5er...

i sa wthat band with chris dave as drummer, just as talented as blacdkwell, 3eg would smokle em

I think D'Angleo and Lauryn Hill have decided that they just want to be touring artists. They won't release any more albums, but will continue to perform live. All of you who are waiting for that new D'angleo album...it's time to stop waiting. It ain't coming out.

I really don't think anyone is "waiting" at this point. It will be yaer 15 or 16 in 2 months.

What ever happened to releasing a new album, and then announcing a tour? These brothers have gotten it backwards. Both D'Angelo and Maxwell are getting on my last nerve.

I hope the ticket sales are horrific, they deserve it for playing so many games.

He's grown but is he of sound mind and body??? If he is impaired in some way it has to be dealth with if he is to remain alive and well regardless of whether he stays in the entertainment biz or not.

I agree but since they never said what the issue was.....they left it up 2 people's imagination.

U know how that tends 2 turn out.

He had pancriatis and to go to the hospital in Md instead of the music fest.

Seems like Miss Hill is sticking to her guns. Didnt she make a comment that she never would have released "Miseducation" had she known so many white people would buy it?

I hope he comes to America!

I really don't understand what is stopping him from releasing that album. We have heard new songs and he often performs them live. I think he has more than enough material to make an album but I am not sure what is taking so damn long to release. I will always love D Angelo though and will continue to root for him.

No, she didn't, that's complete BS:

Anyways, sweet, new D'Angelo tour, I'll be sure to get tickets for the Birmingham show.

The album is definitely in the works. Side A is done. They're finishing up Side B. (Source: Russ' Twitter: https://twitter.com/RussE...0206558208 )

I want this to be the case but really I'm a tad sceptical, I mean, Questlove has been saying for ages that it's 97.5% done, it's 99% done, frankly I'm not really going to believe anything until we actually have a solid release date for anything. That being said, I have every intention of enjoying the concert to its greatest extent, he's working with some amazing people, and if it's half as good as the Voodoo Tour stuff (I've only heard recordings though I'm sure many of you went yourselves) it'll be great.

Not trying to be hostile or facetious, but just honestly curious: Why is the wait such a big deal? There are two possible outcomes: 1. He releases the album or 2. He doesn't. Which approach makes more sense and shows more support? To whine and keep being constantly skeptical or to just see how things develop neutrally? He's either going to do it or not do it. Oh well. We can only hope. As far as the accuracy of Quest and Russ' claims, again, who knows. We can either wait or whine. The questlove percetage thing is brought up every single time the album is talked about around here, and cited as some kind of definite indication that -anything- -anyone- says about the album is a lie.

He might have Blackwell and Jesse, but his band doesn't sound anything like Princes bands, forget that. Pino is leading the grooves.

I heard them live last week here in NZ. They're sounding BADASS.

This band is smoking. I'll be glad when they start playing all new material.

Yeah, you're right really, I should clarify that I wouldn't say I'm whining about the whole thing, my point was that while I am not hugely optimistic about the chances of the album being released sooner rather than later (I'd very much be happy to be mistaken about this), the ongoing fuss over when the album's coming out won't affect my enjoyment of the show, which I'm sure is going to be amazing.

Why no U.S. tour I wonder?

I think a reason why D'Angelo chooses to tour Europe over America is for the same reasons

the old time jazzers ventured to Europe: their taste is a bit more sophisticated. And before he

embarks upon a US tour, he'll be able to iron out the kinks of a live show; in Europe, the media

is much more forgiving than the critics in the States.

Anyways, Van Hunt has a new album coming out in 2015 and I'm all set with D'Angelo anyways;

Voodoo is overrated. His mystique does not bedevil me. We should be anticipatory of artists who

are active, intelligent, adventurous, and just as talented as Mr. Archer.

"The Second Coming" is an appropriate title for D'angelo's new album, since he has been gone for DECADES! While showing his DIE HARD prince fandom @ the same time.

I'm a D fan. But this whole album release is turning into a BIG joke. It's getting on my last damn nerve! Also I'm VERY worried about D's appearance. He just doesn't look healthy to me. disbelief

I heard also he didn't introduce his band on his last performances either overseas. He had that GREAT band with John Blackwell & JESSE JOHNSON & no introduction!?

Show some humility D'angelo..

Yes and that ex colleague is pretty shady. D is one of those people I have heard very little bad about aside from his drug issues. I have a friend who knows him personally-she loves him to death and she is not a fan of many.
