When is the last time Beyawnce opened her mouth to say ANYTHING positive or defending India Arie in any way? Kelly Rowland does the same stupid thing. I don't know what they gain from kissing Beyonce's butt. They need to grow a spine and just speak up when other "stars" don't go to bat for them!

I don't know what's with those chicks lol

I think her parents deliberately had "darker" singers around Beyonce so that she would stand out. I've always felt that and reading certain quotes by Kelly and others confirms it. But, nobody's calling Beyawnce out about it so it continues but any other black artist is crucified.

Such a GREAT post, Bravo, Bravo!

I have not a clue why people kiss that woman's ass when she never opens her mouth to speak on a cause or anyone elses behalf.

The petition is extreme but the intentions are valid to be honest. If you have a million dollar weave collection and are worth millions why not put effort into grooming your daughters hair? Its no excuse for the way they walked out in public with their daughters hair unkept countless of times and it had to take a petition to finally make them groom the child's hair. Thats embarrassing

Wow, I didn't know about India Arie's skin bleaching controvery. Did I crawl under a rock on that one? lol

Anyways, though I do not know the woman personally, it is been said that Beyonce has a very selfish streak to her personality, and she's pissed a number of fans because of it. Maybe that streak is being inflicted on that poor child.

Yeah the whole dust up was last year, but don't worry it was just a blip on the radar wink I wouldn't be surprised about Beyonce being selfish. We're talking about someone who probably hasn't wore the same hair or clothes twice in well over a decade and her daughter always looks rough. When someone has to look "better" than her own daughter, that's a sign that someone's got some serious issues. Her parents probably gave her some sort of superiority complex from a very early age and even though she's like 45 now (smile) she's still got the same attitude.

May I ask what fans you've talked to or where they're saying this? I've been a fan of Beyonce since late 90s (Destinys Child era till present day) and honestly there's never been any controversy about Beyonce being selfish. It has been said, she has no personality (I think she's sort of an introvert ) but never that she has pissed off fans because she's selfish. I think Blue Ivy is having a great childhood, the fact that adults and our society focuses on a child's hair says a lot about people's lives.

Also just because Beyonce may not support people publically doesn't mean, she doesn't contact these people in private. I have a musician friend that spoke to Beyonce and Jay-Z 2 years ago and (I personally think this person sucks lol) but they treated her nicely and gave her positive feedback. Did you read about this in the media? Nops.

Never? Well lets start with that notorious incident at the maternity ward in a NYC hospital where Blue Ivy was born. You don't have to put the whole maternity ward on lockdown, and prevent other mothers from seeing their babies because of her. Just occupy one room with your bodyguards. Not too much to ask. Second, an anonynous source (a Brooklyn resident and you don't need to know their name) pointed out to me that she was filming a video in Coney Island, and it was shut down for an hour. Someone was stuck on the ferris wheel and came down crying. That pissed people off for that one. The media has that writeup on it, so it corrolates to what happened. The stuff that she does can be over the top, and she needs to chill, if she wants to keep her fanbase, but go ahead and defend it.

While the discussion re:India Marie's skin tone has little to do with the topic of this thread, here we go again with the miriad of negative opinions. So here's some India skin color info.

India Arie Denies Skin Bleaching Rumors
http://m.essence.com/2013...ing-rumors

India Arie denied rumors of bleaching her skin on Friday.

The afro-centric singer was hit with criticism over her cover art for new single "Cocoa Butter," which she shared on her Twitter page. The "Brown Skin" singer, known for being proud of her darker complexion, was called out for appearing much lighter on the cover.

Critics were especially confused by the cover photo since Arie had previously criticized the casting of light-skinned actress Zoe Saldana to play songstress Nina Simone in a biopic about the legendary singer's life.

Arie headed back to Twitter to defuse the rumors saying, "1. I wouldn't endanger my health that way, 2. I'm so in love with myself I have no DESIRE to BLEACH myself"…"3. The GLOW you see IS (magnificent) lighting…4. THE LIGHT you see, Well that's all ME!!"

She ended the Twitter conversation saying, "And Yes! I love my #brownskin more than EVER!

this ought to give critics of successful black woman more fodder to continue to bash our own kind as failures to meet individual expect actions

What Coney Island incident? smile I remember hearing about the maternity ward thing. I think it had more to do with the fact that she didn't want it to get out that she used a surrogate. Those bogus "delivery room videos" are staged just to promote the tour. Why did they decide to sit on those photos and videos for all this time and now they release them just in time for their phony tour?

But yes overall, this chick's actions make it seem that she is an incredibly selfish and self-centered person.

Cool, I'll check it out. Given that I cannot get away from photos on every blog I read and every magazine that I touch, it seems to me that this chick doesn't understand that sometimes less is more. She has no reason to have the best while her child looks "flickted" as some people say...The false outrage at the so-called critics reinforces what I suspected all along. There are people who only have but a few brain cells and can't see the obvious issue here which is her neglecting this child's grooming while she soaks up hours each day to look like Gweneth Paltrow.

with all due respect what's it to you? is beyonce's letting her child's clean hair be natural taking any food off your table?
solange wears her hair natural often https://images.search.yah...qez2i&
and it's free style. (see link of solange's hair)
The so-called "outrage" is a failure to respect a parent's rights verses the inane critic's POV and the tenacity to seek a justification and disrepectfully criticizing a child that is not yours.
note:brain cells or no the critical verbiage of bey and jay's child seems to be intelligently expressed. however intelligence does not cancel out ignorance.
fro
also, if someone was criticizing your child or a child in your family, and if I felt they were wrong, I'd defend you just as strongly, and I'd exhibit the same so-called "outrage" UNfalsely. that's just who I am.

I think that's at the heart of it. She's a celeb who has somehow been able to get away with being a trainwreck but isn't called out for it. TV personalities were quick to defend her decision....money makes people say anything, especially if these people are the media that you rely upon for publicity.

You make a great point. I just shake my head because the Carters have done so many questionable and controversial things. They have made it clear they don't give a damn about the black communityor standing up for anything. I don't understand why people pay money to support these people because they definitly could give two nickles about them.

Agreed. That Forbes list is a joke. How is she the most "powerful" woman in the world but doesn't comb her daughter's hair? I saw somewhere online that she allegedly gave $7 million to a homeless charity but it's a tax-break, she did it for publicity to promote her tour and I have NEVER ONCE heard anything about them doing anything of the sort "for charity" up until now. What a joke. She's not powerful, she's marketed ad nauseum. I also saw that her hubby is going to do some White House concert, yawn. It's under the premise of "making a difference around the world".....get real. He can always try going back to Brooklyn where he pushed drugs on kids.

Blue Ivy’s Hair Sparks Controversy About Blacks and Hair

It appears as if some African-American women are still struggling with self-esteem and self-identity issues regarding the unique genetic make-up of African-American hair. Although she’d made African-American history, 16-year-old Olympic Gold Medalist Gabby Douglas was largely criticized by African-American women in 2012 about the unkempt appearance of her hair. This year Jay-Z and Beyoncé’s one-year-old toddler Blue Ivy Carter is the source of criticism about her unkempt hair. I can’t help but wonder if Harriet Tubman’s unkempt hair was a distraction for many female slaves who would’ve otherwise followed her to freedom in the North centuries ago.

blue ivy,s aunt: https://images.search.yah...ox8Qqez2i&

may well be that Beyonce has made some decisions in her public life that don't measure up to my or other's expectation s. However when it comes to her parenting decisions, I feel it's respectful to not make it my business, especially if there is no physical abuse going on with her child. as far as the hair issue, wtf? criticizing her for that is totally disrespectful to her and jay IMO.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, thats why we are on forums to discuss. Who said Beyonce is perfect? No person is perfect. The media loves to say beyonce is perfect and her image is a clean image without controversy, this means nothing though - as it is ONLY an artistic image. It OK that if her fans think she is the best because that's what most fans do with their idols.Im guilty of doing that myself with my stannery for Michael Jackson. I also find it interesting that people who dont care for Bey, would be so concerned about her child? I rarely discuss artists that I dislike, unless theyve said something racist or stupid - Iggy Azalea is a prime example.

However when it comes to her parenting decisions, I feel it's respectful to not make it my business, especially if there is no physical abuse going on with her child. as far as the hair issue, wtf? criticizing her for that is totally disrespectful to her and jay IMO. popcorn [Edited 7/10/14 2:41am]

I think that blackworld is missing the whole point, but I'm going to just let it go.

...and besides, there was nothing wrong with Gabby's hair. The media made a mountain out of a molehill.

http://www.yourblackworld...-blue-ivy/ Blue Ivy’s Hair Sparks Controversy About Blacks and Hair It appears as if some African-American women are still struggling with self-esteem and self-identity issues regarding the unique genetic make-up of African-American hair. The media crucified Gabby Douglas and is the media made up of "black women with low self-esteem identity issues?".....Oh but Beyonce can be a blonde for 15 years and she doesn't have issues? She whitens her skin every chance she gets and all the plastic surgery aren't indicative of her self-hate? Compare how she looked in 2002 to today, how the hell does someone look THAT different?

Black women gotta have "self-esteem" issues when a group gets together to bring attention to what is clearly childhood neglect. Combing your hair is NOT the same as deciding not to be natural! Don't these idiots know that? It's insulting to say natural hair equals matted up hair.

I bet if this were Lupita, they would destroy her like nobody's business.

The media created the ruckus about Gabby's hair because they were pulling for the other chick to win the all-around. It was very apparent to me even after Gabby won that they were trying to push her aside. In team photos they always had her off to the side or almost out of view and she's the one who wiped the floor of everyone else and got those medals? The media is absolutely, positively NOT controlled by angry black women and many people online can easily claim to be "black women" and they might not be. Doesn't anybody think about that?

Everyone is entitled to their opinion and won't agree on everything. However, Beyonce is not perfect. I don't know why her fans and some people feel she is above criticism when she has done and does questionable things. I will never understand it. People make it seem like she walks on water.

I rarely discuss artists that I dislike, unless theyve said something racist or stupid - Iggy Azalea is a prime example. smile

I think whether someone is a fan of a celebrity or not they are entitled to express their opinion on anything related to them. You're right, there is nothing wrong with fans thinking their idol is the best because I definitly do razz .... but you can still think your idol is the best but still have the maturity to be objective in recognizing they are not perfect which alot of her fans and the media do not do with her. I personally agree with the petition being extreme and ridiculous. However, I think the petitioners were trying to make a point versus showing concern. I think their point was," Beyonce you are a rich celebrity that is very appearance conscious with a million dollar weave collection so why do you allow your daughter to walk out the house with her hair not groomed? lol While its not on the same level as saying a racist comment, I still think there is nothing wrong with people expressing constructive criticism. She is a public figure and is always going to be analyzed but this goes for any celebrity. All celebrities get criticized and ridiculed. Alot get it way worse than Beyonce as well. If this had been Britney Spears, Gaga, Michael Jackson, or Whitney Houston who always walked out with their child's hair unkept they would have been ridiculed horribly by the media.
