Vocally, Grande is a soprano, with a four octave range and semitone Eb3-E7, and also has a whistle register. Grande is considered an agile singer that carries very little weight with it and is resonant and well supported all throughout the vocal registers. With great technique Grande is capable of singing all the way down to an Eb3 with ease, exhibiting a smoky vocal texture and connected, light, resonant, and easily accessed- being able to seamlessly blend into a head note head voice. Her voice has been compared to that of Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston. Her music is generally pop and contemporary R&B, and has features of funk, dance, and hip hop. Ariana Grande's debut album, "Yours Truly" is set to hit stores Tuesday, September 3. Grande is expected to perform on The Today Show September 3

Little River Band or LRB is an Australian rock band, formed in Melbourne in early 1975.

The band chose its name after passing a road sign leading to the Victorian township of Little River, near Geelong, on the way to a performance. Little River Band enjoyed sustained commercial success not only in Australia, but also in the United States. They have sold more than 25 million records and achieved 13 U.S. Top 40 hits, besides many music awards gained in Australia.

The band's original members were: lead vocals Glenn Shorrock, acoustic guitar and vocals Graeham Goble, rhythm guitar and vocals Beeb Birtles, lead guitar Ric Formosa, bass guitar Roger McLachlan, and drums Derek Pellicci. Goble was the only original member born in Australia. The music and lyrics for most of the group's compositions were primarily written by Goble and Shorrock, with contributions from Birtles, Briggs and Pellicci.

In May 2001 the Australasian Performing Right Association (APRA), as part of its 75th Anniversary celebrations, named "Cool Change", written by Shorrock, as one of the Top 30 Australian songs of all time.[1] The classic line-up of Birtles, Goble, Pellicci, Shorrock, guitarist David Briggs, and bass guitarist George McArdle, were inducted into the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) Hall of Fame at the 18th Annual ARIA Music Awards of 2004. George Thorogood and the Delaware Destroyers have released sixteen studio albums, including two that were certified Platinum, six that have been certified Gold, and have sold 15 million albums worldwide. The band's early success contributed to the rise of folk label Rounder Records. CD out now!

Elvis Aaron Presley was an American singer, musician and actor. One of the most significant cultural icons of the 20th century, he is often referred to as "the King of Rock and Roll", or simply, "the King".

Presley was born in Tupelo, Mississippi, and at the age of 13, he moved with his family to Memphis, Tennessee. His music career began there in 1954, when he started to work with Sam Phillips, the owner of Sun Records. Accompanied by guitarist Scotty Moore and bassist Bill Black, Presley was an early popularizer of rockabilly, an uptempo, backbeat-driven fusion of country music and rhythm and blues. RCA Victor acquired his contract in a deal arranged by Colonel Tom Parker, who was to manage the singer for more than two decades. Presley's first RCA single, "Heartbreak Hotel", released in January 1956, was a number-one hit in the US. He became the leading figure of rock and roll after a series of network television appearances and chart-topping records. His energized interpretations of songs and sexually provocative performance style, combined with a singularly potent mix of influences across color lines that coincided with the dawn of the Civil Rights Movement, made him enormously popular—and controversial.

In November 1956, he made his film debut in Love Me Tender. In 1958 he was drafted into military service: He resumed his recording career two years later, producing some of his most commercially successful work before devoting much of the 1960s to making Hollywood movies and their accompanying soundtrack albums, most of which were critically derided. In 1968, following a seven-year break from live performances, he returned to the stage in the acclaimed televised comeback special, Elvis, which led to an extended Las Vegas concert residency and a string of highly profitable tours. In 1973, Presley was featured in the first globally broadcast concert via satellite, Aloha from Hawaii. Several years of prescription drug abuse severely deteriorated his health, and he died in 1977 at the age of 42.

Presley is one of the most celebrated musicians of 20th-century. Commercially successful in many genres, including pop, blues and gospel, he is the best-selling solo artist in the history of recorded music.[5][6][7][8] He was nominated for 14 Grammys and won three, receiving the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award at age 36. He has been inducted into multiple music halls of fame. CD out now.

Baltimore native Maysa Leak has gained fiercely loyal following over the past decade as one of the great modern soul/jazz vocalists, and her work has been appreciated by millions of others who simply don't know her name. Compared by some to Sade, she is really a unique vocalist who combines a keen sense of jazz phrasing with a gorgeous, deep, soulful voice similar to Lalah Hathaway. CD out now.

Booker T. Jones is an American multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, record producer and arranger, best known as the frontman of the band Booker T. & the M.G.'s. He has also worked in the studios with many well-known artists of the 20th and 21st centuries, earning him a Grammy Award for lifetime achievement. In June, 2013, Booker T. released his 10th album, Sound The Alarm, on Stax Records. It features guest artists Anthony Hamilton, Raphael Saadiq, Mayer Hawthorne, Estelle, Vintage Trouble, Luke James, James Jay, and Booker's son Ted Jones. CD out now.

Suzanne Nadine Vega is an American songwriter and singer known for her eclectic folk-inspired music. Two of Vega's songs reached the top 10 of various international chart listings: "Luka" and "Tom's Diner". The latter was originally an a cappella version on Vega's album, which was then remade in 1990 as a dance track produced by the British dance production team DNA. CD out.

Valerie June Hockett known as Valerie June, is an American singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist from Memphis, Tennessee, United States. Her sound encompasses a mixture of folk, blues, gospel, soul, country, Appalachian and bluegrass. She is signed to Sunday Best label.

After self-releasing three albums, her debut album as a signed artist, Pushin' Against a Stone, is due for release in the UK and Europe through Sunday Best Recordings on May 6, 2013, and through Concord Music Group in August, 2013. The album includes several songs co-written with Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys, who co-produced it with Kevin Augunas. The album was so titled to commemorate the story of her life. June said "I feel I've spent my life pushing against a stone. And the jobs I've had have been fitting for getting a true feel for how the traditional artists I loved came home after a hard day to sit on the porch and play tunes until bedtime."[24] The record includes performances by Booker T. Jones, who co-wrote one of the songs contained on the album. The track "Workin' Woman Blues" was produced and engineered by Peter Sabák in Budapest.

The two singles released in the UK and Europe were "Workin' Woman Blues" and "You Can't Be Told". CD out.

Neko Richelle Case is an American singer-songwriter, best known for her solo career and her contributions as a member of the Canadian indie rock group The New Pornographers.

Pixies Release New EP; Post Video for “Indie Cindy”
September 2013
Link

Just a few months after releasing their first new single in nine years, “Bagboy,” the Pixies have returned with a new EP. The four-track release, titled EP-1, is currently available digitally and on vinyl via the group’s website.

The Pixies also unveiled a video for “Indie Cindy,” the first single from the release, on their YouTube channel. The five-minute video follows Indie Cindy as she partners with a man in a hooded sweatshirt to kill her abusive boyfriend.

In the clip, Cindy poisons her boyfriend’s beer and drags him to a hotel, where she waits for the drugs to take effect. Cindy then calls the hooded man for assistance, but shortly after he enters the room, the boyfriend wakes up unexpectedly. The video ends with the hooded man killing the boyfriend by smothering him with a pillow, and driving out to a remote location where he burns the boyfriend’s body in a large trash can.

“It’s all about self-doubt,” frontman Black Francis tells The New York Times about the track. “It says to the audience, I don’t know if this romance has still got what it needs to happen again. But we have this memory. Can we do it again?”

The newspaper adds that fans can expect the group to offer up a number of “mini-releases,” which will be available “sporadically over the next 15 months.”

This guy is not for the faint of heart, he made an album that IS not meant to be POP. The subject matter of his album is based on his past drug abuse in all its gory detail. He is quite effective if that is a compliment, take a chance on it. John Murry is his name and misery is his game. The album is titled The Graceless Age, go deep with it.

McCartney is back with a new song, simply named “New.” It’s the title track of his upcoming album, which is set to come out on October 15. It’s has a melody that sounds right out of The Beatles' Rubber Soul era.
