for those holding off on the ALEX and SOS box sets... here is an update the Alexander & S.O.S Anthologies will be the original studio albums without the expanded material on the re-issues

lol talk about trying to get all our cash!!

im still not convinced these are fully remastered at all??? the 3 cds i got last monday (alex oneal , cherrelle n sos band) dont sound any different to the cbs original cds i got and as for the bonus ''12'' mixes a lot of them are straight vinyl rips ,

it might not be a bad thing to just get the straight boxsets because at least these will be from master tapes right? ,

and i notice on their facebook page , some people are complaining and asking if those 12'' versions are vinyl rips and i dont see tabu replying? at least bbr admit when vinyl is used sometimes,

i prefer funkytowngrooves way when no master tapes are available they simply dont include that version,

maybe but you would think that demon who have rights to the tabu catalogue would take the time to do it justice and master it properly, i also purchased the alex o'neal - whats missing single from demon on itunes and the single edit actually has vinyl pops on it (im not kidding!)

yes we have waited a long long time for reissues , but don't cheat the fans we want it done right!

I agree, I hope Dreamer comes out here, too, along with their third album,(second with Larry Dunn) "Time and Chance"...

Yeah, I understand. I've had those situations too, but on the other hand, it's always hard to predict which album might be possibly reissued eventually.

The Japanese imports which I purchased so far always have been remastered in excellent quality, with maybe a few exceptions.

Another thing to consider buying second, third, etc pressings of a reissued albums is that they can include bonus tracks or previously unreleased work.

Liner notes of various reissues are worth to check too, as some of those are mini bios with interesting trivia lol.

Really excited about Millie Jackson's 1986 album An Imitation Of Love getting the remastered treatment. It's a superb album...one of her best.I think this may have been her most successful album ever. She even received alot of radio airplay with this album lol in the past, radio was reluctant to play her stuff because of the bold, outrageous lyrics. But this time around, she enjoyed huge hits with the singles "Hot!Wild!Unrestricted!Crazy Love" and "Love Is A Dangerous Game".The album also includes a remake of Prince's "I Wanna Be Your Lover" but the album's best track is the last one...."I Fell In Love".It's a stunning slow jam with soaring vocals and a haunting melody.....one of Millie's finest songs!!! I would chosen this as a single.

Anyway.....enough of my enthusiastic ramblings lol here's the album tracklist

Millie Jackson An Imitation Of Love - Expanded Edition front cover

Tracklisting

1. Hot Wild Unrestricted Crazy Love
2. Wanna Be Your Lover
3. Love Is A Dangerous Game
4. An Imitation Of Love
5. Mind Over Matter
6. It's A Thing
7. I Need To Be By Myself
8. I Fell In Love

Bonus Tracks

9. Hot Wild Unrestricted Crazy Love - Extended Version
10. Love Is A Dangerous Game - Extended Mix
11. Wanna Be Your Lover - Extended Version
12. It's A Thing - Extended Mix
13. Hot Wild Unrestricted Crazy Love - Instrumental
14. Love Is A Dangerous Game - 7 " Version

Item Description

First ever expanded Edition of Millie Jacksons 1986 album "An Imitation Of Love"

superb production from Timmy Allen & Wayne Braithwaite

Preorder Price is £7.59 price will go up to usual release price of £8.89 once it is in stock

Includes 6 bonus Tracks

From the original master tapes

Release date = 29th April

I definitely want to check this album out. I've never heard of it but it's Millie Jacskon, whom I love and it was made in the 80s biggrin. That's all I need, plus she did a Prince remake. I'm definitely intrigued. What is theover all vibe of the album? Funky?? or mostly slow? I'm hoping it's upbeat and funky.

An Imitation Of Love is a very good album...one of Millie's best. The overall vibe is upbeat....a perfect mix of uptempo tracks and slower songs. This was Millie's first album for Jive Records and I think that she and her producers were aiming for a more commercial, accessible album. She toned down much of the outrageousness of past records and there is no swearing to be found on this album, lol. The album has a very contemporary late 80s R&B sound.

The opening track and first single,Hot! Wild! Unrestricted! Crazy Love sets the tone. It's a funky, sexy jam that seems like it was tailor-made for Millie.Drop your clothes...your inhibitions....I want you wearing just a smile",she sings. The sexy party continues with her remake of Prince's I Wanna Be Your Lover. It's a fun, spirited remake and not surprisingly,Millie has alot of fun with the "I wanna be the only one who makes you come" line...near the end of the song, she boldly promises "I'm gonna make you come! lol...the next track Love Is A Dangerous Game is classic Millie, complete with a spoken "rap".She's tellin' it like it is and giving alot of important advice about relationships. You get the feeling that she is an expert on this topic, lol. The title track (which was one of the singles) is a beautiful ballad.

Mind Over Matter is a decent uptempo track, but the next three songs are absolutely superb. It's A Thing has some hilarious lyrics.....a really fun track! I Need To Be By Myself is Millie at her soulful best. And the final song I Fell In Love is simply gorgeous. Why wasn't this song released as a single?! It's a slow, sultry love song with haunting synths and soaring vocals.Definitely the best song on the album.

I guess I'm in the 25% who cares. I have the original Japan import CD of Cherrelle's "Fragile" and the original U.S. pressing of Alex's first CD. No way I would have ordered these Demon reissues if I would have known they were going to use vinyl rips for the bonus tracks.

I think most people would like to be told if vinyl rips are being used. But, I guess unless the statement "from master tapes" is not being used in the description, then we should assume some rips are being used. I'll have to keep that in mind in the future. I remember when Universal released a whole slew of reissues as Japan imports (no bonus tracks) a few years ago that were vinyl rips and they were charging between $30-$40 a pop! A LOT of people were infuriated that they were paying that kind of money for vinyl rips. I was one of them! mad

Morning everyone, and many thanks for all your support and comments regarding the Tabu re-issue campaign. We've been monitoring all comments on this site as we are fully committed to Tabu, and producing the best re-issue campaign as we can possibly release for you guys, the fans.

A campaign to release deluxe and expanded versions of the original Tabu studio albums has taken far too long, due to the length of time it has taken to source the masters from a variety of archives.

Many of these audio masters have been retained perfectly. However, some of the original masters – some going back more than thirty-five years old - have had to be sourced from a variety of production masters, which our mastering facilities have spent a lot of time restoring. In some instances there will be a slight drop of high-fidelity, due to some of the processes that the material has to go through, including ‘baking’.

Mr. Avant has been very supportive of the pre-awareness and enhanced reissues in the short time that we have been custodians of the Tabu catalogue outside of North America and he is delighted with how they have turned out packaging-wise.

We sincerely hope that you all continue to support our efforts and as always, welcome any suggestions and comments regarding future releases, concepts and remix albums.

cop out does not tell us a lot! at least admit where they used vinyl rips , yes i know they use filters on vinylrips to drown out background noise (is that what they mean by baking??)

Hi every-1: Just bought Cheryl Lynn's "In Love" CD as remastered and reissued courtesy of Funkytowngrooves, U.K. and find the volume extremely low. Anybody else reporting this? Just curious. Same with Krystol's "Passion from A Woman." The "Johnny Kemp" CD comes in louder. Thanks! smile

Hi every-1: Just bought Cheryl Lynn's "In Love" CD and find the volume extremely low. Anybody else reporting this? Just curious. Same with Krystol's "Passion from A Woman." The "Johnny Kemp" CD comes in a LITTLE louder. F.Y.I. and peace out. smile

Shoot a message to FTG and let them know. Their products are usually pretty high quality. I'm sure they will appreciate the feedback.

I mos. def. WILL, kit! Thanks 4 reading and responding! Be blessed. smile

p.s. Thanks TOO, Soulbuddy! smile
