i can't comment on the casio songs b/c even though i bought the cd, i still can't bring myself to listen to it. sad

however, i also have kinda mixed feelings about frank. when he and mj went on the outs the first time, he intimated that he was going to do a 'tell all' and talk about mj's sex life. then in '93 when the first allegations broke, he firmly defended mj saying, 'that's not in his makeup'. THEN, he made certain dodgy statements afterward that mj was around kids but he turned a 'blind eye to it, maybe he shouldn't have' or some shit like that. that's why, unlike some, i always questioned his support in '05 b/c i saw it as him trying to get back in mj's good graces for his own purposes. after all, after he and mj parted ways, who did he manage that even came close to mj's status? or even had a status that he could build on?

roger friedman has a tribute to frank at his site where he definitely goes out of his way to go for mj's jugular, while giving all credit to frank. it bothers me that frank was so cozy with such bloodsucker like friedman. i'm sorry for his family's loss, but all this praise being heaped upon him by some mj fans ... i don't know, i'm skeptical.

The press reported Frank "could" write a tell all book when he and MJ parted ways. From what I can recall Frank never said it.

If as an MJ fan we give Mike the benefit of the doubt with media reports - I think you also have to give that benefit to stories about MJ associates. Obviously a story saying Frank will write a tell all book sells better than MJ and Frank part ways - alls good.

I also don't know the quote your talking about regarding the "blind eye" comment - is there a link to it as it feels out of character for Frank who always defended MJ.

Haven't bothered reading the Friedman piece as I always take what he says with a truckload of salt.

When Jackson learned from pals Paul and Linda McCartney that they were considering buying the lucrative Beatles song catalogue, he "bought it out from under them," claims Dileo. "That was irritating."
Neither is Dileo thrilled with Jackson's penchant for befriending children. "It was very strange behavior, and I turned a dead eye to it," he says ruefully. "In retrospect, maybe that was wrong."

Michael Jackson crowned king of MTV VMAs: poll

(Reuters) - King of Pop Michael Jackson is gone, but he is not forgotten -- not by MTV Video Music Award voters.

Two days before the widely-watched awards show, MTV on Friday released a poll of the top moments chosen by voters in the program's nearly three decades with Jackson singled out for most iconic and best pop performances for a medley of songs he sang in 1995.

Jackson singing and dancing to "The Way You Make Me Feel," "Scream," "Beat It" and "Smooth Criminal" picked up 57 percent of the vote for most iconic performance, beating the likes of Madonna with "Like a Virgin" in 1984 and Lady Gaga's "Paparazzi" from 2009.

The "Thriller" singer, who died in June 2009 from a drug overdose, also got the nod for best pop performance with the same medley, again topping artists including Britney Spears, Justin Bieber, TLC and his own sister, Janet Jackson, who performed a tribute to Michael the year he died.

MTV annually gives away awards for best videos in what has become one of its most-watched telecasts. Last year's VMAs were seen by 11.4 million viewers, its biggest audience since 2002.

Perhaps more important than awards and stars, the program is known for its sometimes impromptu, often planned, outrageous moments that grab headlines around the world.

Last year, Lady Gaga showed up in a dress made completely of raw meat. Two years ago, Kanye West jumped onstage and grabbed a microphone from a stunned Taylor Swift to tell audiences that Beyonce, not Swift, should have won one award.

But where outrageousness is concerned, nothing beats the kisses shared among Madonna, Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera at the 2003 show. It was voted the most outrageous moment of the VMAs history with 53 percent of the votes from some 15 million total ballots cast online.

The infamous kiss, during a performance of "Like a Virgin" and "Hollywood," beat out the fight between Kid Rock and Tommy Lee in 2007, Howard Stern appearing as Fartman and Diana Ross jiggling Lil Kim's breast at the 1999 show.

In fact, the flashy purple pantsuit Lil Kim wore, which left one breast exposed except for a pasty over her nipple, was picked by 39 percent of voters as the wildest outfit ever worn to the show, beating Lady Gaga's meat dress and Britney Spear's black leather biker ensemble from 2002.

Other results of the MTV poll, which also looked at best videos of the 1980s, 90s and 00s, as well as top performances in hip hop and rock, can be found at newsroom.mtv.com.

The VMAs air on Sunday, starting at 9 p.m.

Yep. What a bitch. I hope that this is just a case of bored meteorologists trying to hype shit up rather than something serious. If not I hope it blows itself right into the Atlantic. What about all those people who were flying in for the event? I feel so bad for them... If I still lived in Brooklyn I would have just walked out there.

What sucks is that it was my friend's birthday too and I was planning on making a picnic lunch for us and cake for his birthday. =/

ETA: Oh damn and there's the Prince v. MJ party in Brooklyn (won't be able to make that tonight) and there's another MJ Tribute with Q-Tip & DJ Spinna at Irving Plaza on Sat. Damn you hurricane.

They thrive on fear. It's how they get ratings and get people to buy a whole lotta shit. I am worried about floods though. I'm in one of the evacuation zones.

It's very quiet in central NC. As far as I know, the far east of the Carolinas (mainly those in and around the coastal area) were told to evacuate and yeah Governor Perdue (and the President) declared it a state of emergency. But for right now things are quiet here unless you lived in the coast that is.

Nah, it's just starting to reach the coast but of course it's moving slow. Like I said, we probably will get a lot of rain and some heavy wind but that's it. Not nothing too catastrophic. In fact NC always were declared state of emergencies no matter what type of hurricane came our way. We take our precuations seriously lol

patrick, frank gave this interview to the nydn. THEY ARE QUOTING FRANK HIMSELF, i'm not quoting anyone. if you bother to read the article, they even question the people he accused of moving him out of mj's circle about his accusations toward them. furthermore, i found excerpts of a transcript of an interview he did w/diane sawyer who questioned him about his quotes in this very article. i'm not going to post it; you can go find it yourself. what's total bullshit is the way you have your head up your own ass, or frank's, or whatever. don't shoot the messenger b/c you don't like the message.

on edit:

this is a link to the wrap up of the interview diane sawyer did w/frank:

http://abcnews.go.com/GMA...amp;page=1

this is a link to a fan page that printed excerpts of the transcript of the diane/frank interview:

http://lacienegasmiled.wo...legations/

you'll note that there are word for word quotes in the wrap up from the transcript.

in the interview, he clearly backtracks on his statements and tries to clarify, but diane called him out on this and he does not deny them. frank gave that interview to nydn, so don't try to deny he didn't.

It's just amazing to think that as of 2011, it was only 10 years ago that Invincible was released and 20 years that Dangerous was released. There should be a special thread or roundtable discussion commemorating these two amazing records. biggrin

There should be a thread on those two albums. I swear sometimes I feel like I'm the only black woman on the planet who was still a Mj fan after Thriller. Dangerous is Mj's second best selling album from what I heard and thats because it was one of the best new jack swing albums and Invincible is sooo underrated it's not even funny
