I see it the same way.

Me too

soo all the white people who helped out with civil rights issues in the 60's till today are acting illogically? One can't act against injustice unless the injustice directly affects them? Since we all know all kinds of people in all kinds of demographics, wouldn't ANY injustice affect ANY individual?

I don't think that Kylie and Gaga have ever said that using naked male dancers is supporting gay rights. It's entertainment for their female fans as well. I thought we were talking about them speaking out in favor of gay issues in their interviews and lyrics.

Maybe what Gaga is doing isn't a big deal to you as an older person, but what she is doing is important to younger gay people and teenagers who are still struggling with their sexuality. Every person speaking out helps a little bit. Gay people have more rights today and homophobia is less because people have spoken out . Suppose no one ever spoke out because they were afraid someone would question their motives. I'm not saying homophobes will magically change their mind when they hear a Gaga song, but every person speaking out helps to change the climate and should be celebrated not attacked.

Madonna never said she was bisexual. But even saying you are bisexual makes it okay and more accepted to having same sex relationships.I'm bisexual and I'm tired of being put down by the official gay community and being questioned by people who say bisexuality doesn't exist and I'm lying. Why am I considered second class in the GLBT community instead of an equal.

I just find there's a fundamental cyncisim and mean spiritedness in the gay male community that doesn't help our cause. The attitude toward Gaga is more of the same. There are many things to criticize about Gaga but her support of equal rights isn't one of them.

Oh please, you really think Kylie has all these naked guys to appeal to female fans? Ever been to a Kylie concert? LOL!

I'm not putting down bisexuality at all. You didn't get what i was saying. Madonna said she was in a relation with a woman (Sandra?), so she was giving the impression she was bisexual, but she is totally straight. I just don't like people to give the impression they are bisexual, when they are not.

It's not that simple....they send a message that they are bisexual, but you know what? They end up having kids with their husband and have a happy family life.

Once again, i'm not critizing Gaga, i'm just not sure what her motives are....lest see in 10 years when she's happily married with two kids....which i won't have in my life

Do you understand what bisexual means? it means they date/have relationships or are attracted to both sexes, the fact that a woman ultimately settle down with a man and have kids and is happy doesn't mean they are no longer attracted to women.

That's their choice, if they were only attracted to women they would be lesbians.

You are right though alot of people say they are bisexual cause it trendy, which is bullshit, maybe Gaga and Madonna are this kind of person...who knows.

Well, Madonna had well-documented and longterm relationships with females. Not to mention, if the SEX book wasn't pictorial evidence that Madonna was bisexual (or at least, really into sex of all kinds), then I dunno what could be.

Furthermore, I feel this whole "is ___ gay enough?" shit is similar to people calling light skinned black people not black enough. Its met with the same outrage. I don't care, personally, if someone is gay cuz its cool to be gay. I grew up with gay being a terrible thing to those who weren't gay and in today's society we are pounded with the common usage of slurs. When people say it's okay to call things gay or call someone a fag, I wonder why its not okay to use other minority slurs in normal tongue?

Anyway, the point is that you hit the nail on the head with your post. People do not need to "prove" their sexuality and its absurd to suggest they SHOULD. Being gay is not some kind of elite club.

"Lady Gaga tries to make herself the queen of gay rights, but comes across as someone who is exploiting gays rather than helping them."

This always has been a problem for me with artists like Gaga, Kylie etc. I always ask myself the question, why are they concerned about gayrights, if they are not gay themselve?

I really want to believe they are sincere about their message, but what the reviewer is saying goes through my mind frequently.

I've always taken it that when any artist has a huge gay audience that they tend to advocate for the gays. If they didn't then they would be percieved as being against the very people who sustain their celebrity status. In this day and age you have to have an opinion on everything if you don't want to be seen as totally ambivalent to the cause du jour. No more sitting on the fence and a 'no comment' is seen as a cop out.

When eye go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all heart up in the house but when eye log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

Sorry I have to respond, not to this off-topic bullshit y'all going on about, but to the reviewer itself... okay I get he don't like Gaga, but I wouldn't compare the ENTIRE album to anything from Madonna even if it's an obvious way of comparing for some people. He seemed to take shit too PERSONALLY with this album. lol

Not gonna even touch on the Gaga album cause the lady bores me but I was reading something about how their were alterior motives for some of the whites who championed civil rights. Can't remember what it was but---anyone else know what I am thinking of?

I'm sure there were and still are alterior motives. Many of them are probably still in play. I believe those motive are in play in conjunction with and not inspite of the pureer(sp?..lol) ones.

who would say that 90's eurodisco would be the latest fashion in 2011? biggrin

Fun album...but repetitive at the same time, specially the subject...it's too much "I'm a freak, I'm different, I am what I am" kind of thing, that at the end it almost sounds like she's apologizing, "sorry, but I was born this way". At least she's passionated about it, which is not common these days. I think she really believes that the album is all that she hyped..well, that's something..good intention.

See, and this is why I just can't get into Gaga. Not only have I never been into the high energy blended with disco, if I do feel it, I need a lil M-People soul mixed in and Gaga is anything but soulful.

She's soo freaken contrived, I avoid her at all cost. With that being said, I have listened to some of her songs but being that I feel like I've heard it all before, it just doesn't speak to me.

Huh? Maybe I didn't post my thoughts in chronological order. I really do approach my posts here streaming bits o' consiousness versus thought out blog posts. Maybe I should have said this to best articulate my thoughts:

well, baby, the pop scene in the last decade is so so boring and takentless that any well orchestred fart is considered a revolution. I think the album is just ok...it's not even the best album of this year so far, leave alone the decade...I'm already back 2 my special edition of Tina's "Private Dancer"..but, glad people r having fun with it..as u say to each its own.

I have just listened to the album, but not properly, just scanned through the songs so to speak. Sounds like there are about 3 hit songs and the rest are either vey odd or songs that will have to grow on you. The Fame Monster sounded a lot more clear and perfect with catchy choruses. This one is kinda messy... and odd. My reaction was "aha..oookay..well... em... hm...". Will have to take a proper listen to it later, I have read other reviews that were very happy with this album. Don't think I will be though, as I'm not her biggest fan any way.

With each listen I like it even more.

It's also more consistantly good than TFM. TFM tapered off towards the end, and I can't even listen to the last few songs on that album.

But this thing is listenable front-to-back. I honestly think people will love it or hate it worldwide, but that it will end up outlasting albums from several of her peers. I convinced Gaga albums will outlast Madonna ones. Out of all of Madonna's albums probably only 30% of them are actually good. Gaga's only had two real albums (if you don't count the first which is really a subset of the second), so it's too early to tell. But based on what's she's done so far, I'm pretty sure we're looking at some really good stuff later one.

Shit, I can't even listen to Prince's first two albums without a bit of cringing. lol
