You forgot to mention Jeff Goldblum, and Terri Nunn from 80s synth pop group Berlin.

That movie & "Car Wash" gave birth to many well known names in Hollywood.

Leatherman

The All Saints were in a film called Honest, it was directed by the former Eurythmics guitarist Dave Stewart. I haven't seen it, but it's gotta be pretty naff.

I spent 90% of this movie trying to figure out what made Bjork do it:

Still think she's adorable though. Prince Rogers Nelson

The part where she sings I've Seen It All is beautiful.

It aired on TCM earlier this year, which was a mouth-dropper moment. All I can say is that it's great 70's cheese. Just for all the reasons already mentioned, and I love that it opens with the theme song. If you are interested, you can view it on Netflix website.
As for worse musical, I would give it to Moulin Rouge. I remember leaving the movie theater wondering if I had missed something and what was the big deal? It got rave reviews back then. "Funkyslsistah… you ain't funky at all, you just a little ol' prude"!
"It's just my imagination, once again running away with me."

I don't know about the "rough" version, but Moulin Rouge was a pretty cool movie!
I would nominate;
- Grease 2 - Xanadu - anything Disney-related - and (sadly) Graffiti Bridge if you don't count its fan-based cult value By St. Boogar and all the saints at the backside door of Purgatory!

yes yes yes!!! disney movies are the worst.

I looooooved "Xanadu" as a kid.
Grew up an hadnt watched it in years...decided to show it to my kids after I found it on DVD...EMBARASSING!
The movie was so bad!
But I dont give a f*ck...I still love that soundtrack.
Have it on CD...havent listened to it in awhile, but we'll fix that right now!!!

Does anyone have more opinion to sport about Idlewild? Would love to know what some of the org thinks about it. I forgot about it altogether until today.

I'm IMPRESSED that so far, "Under The Cherry Moon" hasn't been mentioned!
By St. Boogar and all the saints at the backside door of Purgatory!
- E-mail - orgNote - ![]() |
Its more 3/10 rather than 0/10, Cherry at least has great music and although the acting is not very proficent, theres a few laughs at least, Prince and Jerome come across as being on the down low rather than chasing the ladies. Compared to The Apple, Glitter, Cross Roads, Xanadu and Graffiti Bridge, Under the cherry moon is at least at the level of "This is Spinal Tap" So what are u going 2 do? R u just gonna sit there and watch? I'm not gonna stop until the war is over. Its gonna take a long time

I get the fishslap, again?
I like the 1952 Moulin Rouge movie. I don't know what the hell the 2001 MR version was. Yes, I do, blasphemy!

I don't think this movie is nearly as terrible as the critics said it was
I feel the same way about Madonna's 'Who's That Girl',released one year later.

High School Musical. | |

Amazing how no one mentioned "HArd to Hold" starring Rick SPringfield from 1984, though the movie was trashed by critics, it grossed overall 11 million and the soundtrack was amazing, scored 4 hits for rick and had songs from Graham Parker, Randy Crawford, and also Peter GAbriel. plus the soundtrack sold about 4 million worldwide. But as Rick said, this film showed how much of a whore i am with my acting, and how great my fans are to sit through this shit. "We went where our music was appreciated, and that was everywhere but the USA, we knew we had fans, but there is only so much of the world you can play at once" Magne F

I thought this film was werid, but not in a good way (I loved Dancer In The Dark and few movies are stranger than that one). It felt like a darker version of a combo of Lakawana Blues and The Cotton Club to me.I guess I expected something different than what I got.

My nomination for worst (or perhaps strangest) musical film would be 200 Motels....Frank Zappa, Ringo, etc. I think you have had to be there and/or super stoned to get it. The film actually gave me a headache!

LOL at Al Jolson. You know that film was made in the 1920's don't you LOL. I know you know this as you always bitch about old Hollywood. Anyway, "The Jazz singer" was the first film to use sound so it has it's history. Other then that Iam not interested in it. [Edited 11/25/10 17:10pm]

This movie came out around the same as 'Purple Rain' and it was interesting to see Prince succeed in a film while Rick (who actually has acting credentials) flopped big time
- E-mail - orgNote - ![]() |
I don't give a damn if The Jazz Singer was made BEFORE the invention of the light blub.
Blackfaces is controversial, without question. But context can make the situation far worse. And watching Al Jolson singing Mammy while wearing a blackface does make that situation worse. And I still believe he should've been kick in the nuts for that bullshit.
