Grease 2 was real stupid. So was Blues Brothers '00.
For real.
Add to that
Tommy
Showgirls (although it was more dance than music)
Graffiti Bridge (although if you're drunk it's not that horrible)
Krush Groove (other than Kurtis Blow's perfect curl, it blowed)
Anthing associated with or directed by Damon Dash (rap music inspired)
Do those wretched House Party movies count? HP 2, 3, ....
Des u didn't like krush groove when run said "yo this must be a holiday or something cause everyone is telling run what the fuck 2 do!!"
or
I'm gonna fly that fucking head off!!
man, he has such an amazing body of music that it's sad to see him constrict it down to the basics. he's too talented for the lineup he's doing. estelle 81
EW and tons of other publishers and critics called this the best film of the year. Cannes gave it top honors. While you might not have got the film, there ain't no way in hell this film can be considered "the worst" or poorly made.

A hot jheri curl, kangoed, bad lighting, bad acting, human beat box mess!!!! I'd rather watch an MC Hammer marathon with back to back runs of "Pumps and a Bump!"

There was also a movie in the early 90's called The Commitments, which was about a bunch of rowdy Irish working-class stiffs who form a Motown tribute band.
Which was one of the best movies ever made, it illustrated the gritty urban poverty that existed in Ireland until very recently. Whats wrong with this movie? Its good acting, believable characters and they clearly had musical talent - the singer Andrew Strong went on to a moderately successful solo career and the movie did not show excessive violence or drug use. There was no glamour involved, run down parts of Dublin and housing straight from the Congested Districts Acts of the 1860s. (You have to be of Irish descent to understand this). Half the characters had serious dental problems and all were clearly very working class. Swearing is limited mostly to feck (The Irish equivalent of fxxk)
Compare this realism to the over the top movies by Mariah Carey, Britney Spears, all the Disco Movies, hip hop movies with their artificial glitter and stradust.
Only the 50 cent and eminem movies compare, but we don't have the glamourised drug references, violence, machine guy swearing and destructiveness. In the Commitments theres a few bar brawls, some dope and a lot of Guiness at the worst.
Yeah that's a good film, Y'know Andrea Corr's in it.
I have it on DVD too....as part of a 4-DVD set that includes the first 'Breakin' movie as well as 'Beat Street',plus some kind of breakdance documentary DVD.
Under The Cherry Moon wasn't really god awful; it was just ...meh. It had its moments, but the romance dragged on and took too much time to develop.
Now besides the obvious films featuring certain pop divas and hot-at-the-time hip-hop stars not named Will Smith, LL Cool J, and Queen Latifah, there were some other musical-themed movies which were totally cheesy, like Streets of Fire, Sing, Absolute Beginners, Give My Regards To Broad Street (starring Paul McCartney) and the Breakin' movies.
There was also Eddie and the Cruisers, which was supposed to be about a band from the late 1950's/early 1960's which was supposed to have been really progressive for its time, anticipating the edgier sounds of the mid to late 1960's, but before the band could blow up into superstardom, the lead singer suddenly disappears after a car crash into a river, and it's not known whether he's alive or dead. The movie used the music of a then up-and-coming band led by John Cafferty.

Even a cheesy film like Streets Of Fire can give viewers a powerful scene.

Oh my god! I used to love this song. That and the opening song, "Nowhere Fast," were good IMO. The movie, however, was pretty pointless. BTW, is that really Diane Lane singing? I always wondered that.

Oh yes it WAS god-awful....
No, not really. At least not compared to Grafitti Bridge or Glitter. And even those movies weren't as god-awful as that Sgt. Pepper movie with Peter Frampton and the Bee Gees, Apple, KISS Meets the Phantom of the Park, Xanadu, and Spiceworld.
Glitter was pretty bad... Graffiti Bridge and Moonwalker too but I consider those long music videos rather than movies... I remember a couple of Lambada films from back when I was a kid... they were pretty terrible too.
It wasn't that bad. Just slow.. and quiet. And predictable. And Mariah was the only one who couldn't act. I wonder why it's played round the clock on Fuse.
I have to say despite Purple Rain being a cheesy movie with bad acting, it still a great movie in terms of it's cultural standing. I think Mariah tried to strive for that.

Purple Rain may one of the very best musical movies ade
Yeah, a good movie.... except the acting, editing, storyline, and characters all sucked badly and at times didn't make sense. However, it was good as far as being a movie that represented 80s culture. It was a high point in Prince's career. And the music helped immensely. IMMENSELY.

I've watch THIS^ film for the first time on YouTube over the summer of 2010. Although I liked Emma for her cute face & Mel C for her singing vocals at the time, THIS film was terrible.
Mel C's vocals? She had one of the worst voices I've ever heard. None of them were strong singers, but her voice was especially horrible! lol

Diane Lane lip-synced in the film, the vocals were provided by Holly Sherwood. I liked this film though it didnt make much sense. There's one musical number that featured Robert Townsend, Stoney Jackson, Grand Bush and Mykelti Williamson (Bubba from Forest Gump) They lip-synced to "I Can Dream About You" which became a hit record. Its cool to see a film that has a cast of actors that were unknown but 5 years to 10 years they became famous.

Long before she became famous,a young Paula Abdul appeared in a 1978 musical called "Junior High School".I've only seen clips from it and it is pretty terrible

We're gonna have a party....
She was never a great singer, but the nose job sure did help

Oh yes it WAS god-awful....
but be honest, don't you find some of the scenes to be funny? The "wrecka stow" scene, for example The movie has some obvious flaws, but when it works,it really works.
I think what really hurt this film was the fact that it's in black and white. In 1986,most people were not enthusiastic about seeing a black and white film.

I honestly don't think this movie was that bad.At least not as bad as the critics made it out to be.The only real problem was the lack of chemistry between Mariah and her co-star.They didn't "click" as a couple and their scenes together were unconvincing.
