2000 watts doesnt sound like MJ either. I have listened closley like 20 times and its MJ.

Remember MJ has not sang a up tempo track with speed in his voice in years so you cant expect the 1980 MJ with the soft voice. His voice is smooth on slow tracks but the deepness shows when he has to speed up. Its MJ PPL

I agree. It is 150% Michael Jackson folks. I have to say I'm really REALLY impressed with this song. When I woke up I read all the bitching here on my phone and had to turn the mac on, crank the speakers & take a listen. Personally if the rest of the album is as good as this it will be awesome.

Here's some points I want to make:

1. The vocals are almost definitely rough demo vocals and the track has been finished after his passing

2. The background vocals are mainly not Michael Jackson... So?

3. The song is better than any track off Invincible

4. The production is Amazing

5. There is NO WAY that Sony would release a fake song. That is ridiculous.

I was expecting a half finished messy demo like "This is it" or "In the back" off The Ultimate Collection, this is a great song, stop getting so worked up people!!!

I'm really happy with this..... bring on the album wildsign

This is outrageous. I can't believe they are trying to pass this off as Michael Jackson. What a con job. I feel cheated. We were promised a new album of songs that Michael Jackson recorded in his final years. Instead they record a bunch of fake songs with Jason Malachi. What a disgrace to his legacy! I'm all on Katherine's side. Fight this thing. Don't let them release this farce! Michael was so right about Sony.

I haven´t heard it yet. Can´t wait to listen to it. I can´t believe what´s going on though. Some say it´s Mike, some say it´s not him.

And how come the family claims it´s not him. Weren´t they supposed to give it an approval? Who runs the estate? Katherine, doesn´t she? Should she be the one to give it final approval? I don´t know how it works, but I´d think so.

"When Michael Jackson is just singing and dancing, you just think this is an astonishing talent. And he has had this astounding talent all his life, but we want him to be floored as well. We really don´t like the idea that he could have it all."

What's the point in releasing something that has fans debating its authenticity? Many of us who don't believe its Michael Jackson aren't 9th grade apologist fans. Many of us have enjoyed Mike and R&B/Soul music for years (Me, I'm only about ten years in to my R&B fandom, but there are fans who are 40 - 50 years old who grew up with the J5 and Mike who don't believe this is him).

If it turns out this is Michael Jackson, then I'd wonder why he or whoever produced it butchered his vocals. If it was a demo, then it sounds like they hired a soundalike to finish the vocals.

It's very odd that this sounds (to me) nothing like MJ but very much like Jason Malachi.

No outtakes, no other tracks, no backups, no proof. roughly 10 songs they turned in… same story for all of them. I asked for the computer it was created on... they said it broke. I asked for the original hard drive... they said it was destroyed. One dubious excuse after another.

I agree with katherine, Michael's kids, his nephews and latoya, this does not sound like Michael and Michael kept everything he would not ask for tracks to be deleted because he was happy. Sony has lost all their credibility.

MJ would have NEVER told anyone to "delete all the other files." We all know MJ kept all his vocal demos as well as video footage from all his rehearsals and/or performances. I just heard the song and that voice doesn't sound quite like MJ to me.

If this is evidence of the Cascio tracks that Sony and the estate wanted on the album so badly, that doesn't bode well for the rest of the tracks :\

You say it isn't because you say so? Listen, I can understand where people are coming from, the sound is different to how it was in 1995 but I really just can hear it is him. The vibrato is so on it. I love the vocal, I'm excited about this new material and worried the speculation is going to ruin it for me. For the record I think the vocals on Invincible were not great and although the breaking new vocals are a little weak there is lots of feeling there.

and i knew something fucked up was coming as soon as i heard the advertisement, they only had a "whooo" and a grunt of michaels, no great singer would be advertised that way unless something shady was happening. Not only is it not michael it's not even a very good imitation. Elvis had some fantastic imitators but I could always tell they weren't him no matter how good they were and the same with this. Voice is one thing, spirit and essence and personality are another, even if the voice was perfectly matched, the soul doesn't sound right.

This forum is making me crazy. I really hope Michael is looking down laughing his ass off at everyone thinking it's not him. The dude loved drama and is still causing plenty of it.

I'm not hating on anyone. It's my opinion and I'm in the minority so it's getting really frustrating for me. If you wanna believe it's not him then don't listen to it or buy it. I'll be grooving to it all year smile

DarlingDiana

Has Michael Jackson ever even come close to singing his own name in a song, Jason Derulo style? I can't imagine Michael ever singing "everybody wants a piece of Michael Jackson". The fuck? It's not a terrible song either. When it gets into the chorus it starts to get all right, and the synth horns in the middle go off. I like it but it's clearly not Michael Jackson. He's definitely not singing the lead vocals in the verses or anything. Maybe, maybe the chorus is based on a real vocal recorded by Michael. But if it is, it's hidden under layers of Jason Malachi and the backing singers they brought in to imitate Michael's layered vocal chorus style. It's such a shame that this album, which I was very excited for, turned out to be a farce.

A lot of fans are wondering why Sony did this and why they didn't just use real Michael Jackson demos. I don't think there are any decent demos left that haven't already been released in some form. Think about it. All his unreleased material has been used up. 'Blood on the Dance Floor' rehashed a few 'Dangerous' out-takes. The 2001 remastered editions of 'Thriller' and 'Bad' included a few out-takes from each album. By the time 'The Ultimate Collection' was put together, they were scraping the barrel for unreleased MJ songs they could release. They had to settle for songs like 'In The Back' and 'Beautiful Girl' which are good songs but really unfinished. Most of the vocals are "la, la, la... da, da, da". So I don't think there's anything left in the vault that can be used. I'd say the rest of the recordings we haven't heard are poor recordings, "la, la, la" lyrics, or just plain bad songs.
