*** NSFW *** Useless members of singing groups, duets or bands that weren't needed *** NSFW ***

-First one that comes to mind is "LeLee" or whatever her name was from SWV (The lightest girl in the group)

I dont even think she really sang, just faked it for the most part while the tape played....I honestly think she was there for decoration. And don't get me wrong SWV is one of my fav girl groups.... Coko did her thing, Taj played her role here and there, but Lelee? This heffer was useless. I think she sang one song on the SWV sophmore album and her vocals were just terrible.

Can y'all name a member (or members) of groups/bands that you though were useless or really weren't needed at all?

[NSFW status added in title due to some of the images attached to this thread by some posters. The pictures aren't lewd or crass, but they should come with a warning so as to not get anyone in trouble. Thanks. - June7]

Xscape

the girls were on fire

except that Tiny

this chick could barely sing and she was in the videos but didnt do much of anything

i think she was the reason that the Xscape reunion failed so horribly about 4 years ago

oh and Lelee?

perfect point on that

i think she is gonna ruin the reunion coming up next year sometime.

Find a new topic. You can't speak to what anyone did in a group if you weren't in it as well. You don't like the girl? Fine, but the post was ridiculous and insulting.

Before I even opened this thread my first thought was LeeLee. She could have been anyone.

Spice Girls: Victoria Beckham (Adams, back then)

BSB: Howie and Kevin lacked personality; the group should have been a trio featuring the amazing voice of AJ, plus Brian and Nick

Beach Boys: Mick Love was perfect for the 62-65 era (for songs like Funx3 or Surfin USA), but after Pet Sounds he should have launched a solo career or whatever, cuz the new and more mature songs of the 67-73 era were perfect for the Wilson bros, but he ruined the albums of that era, basically...

NPG: Tony M and the other two dancers; I still think that Prince should have hired professional and/or famous rappers for the D&P and Love Symbol albums...

R Kelly & Public Annuncement - What the fuck purpose did they serve?

Today - Big Bub was the man and the rest were just backup

Pras of The Fugees - I mean, really?

Marky Mark & The Funky Bunch - I mean, really? That includes Marky as well lol

Guy/Blackstreet - Teddy Riley: Ok, so he was the music, but vocally his ass was NOT needed! lol

I think Lauryn was the ONLY glimpse of hope & substance to that group. The minute she decided to leave the group, the path to their dead end street was inevitable. She was the only one folks were waiting for to speak up - the other two were unnecessary from the get-go.

I would say the same thing about DeVante Swing. Talented dude, but somebody should've told his ass to sit the bombaclaut down somewhere, and drag his brother with him too lol K-Ci & JoJo were the group, the other two's place is behind the booth.

In Boney M, only Liz Mitchell and Marcia Barrett did any singing, Maizie Williams just lypsynched (She was hired as the producers thought she was very attractive and would add some sex appeal for the group), and Bobby Farrell did a bit of talking on the early tracks, but he just danced. Frank Farian the groups producer and svengali did all the male voices in the Boney M tracks (Up til the early 80s when Bobby left). Most of the singing you hear in Boney M songs is Liz Mitchell and huskier back up vocals by Marcia Barrett, both Jamaicans who spoke English as a first language.

Hiring people for their looks rather than their talent became a bugbear for Frank Farian, he chose Rob Pilatus and Fabrice Morven to front the group "Milli Vanilli" the first only spoke German and Fabrice was from Guadeloupe and spoke French not English. The actual vocals were handled by expatriate Americans including most male vocals by Charles Shaw an overweight black American who looked like Cral Winslow from Family Matters. The scam came undone eventually.

Of useless members, Greg Brooks and Wally Safford come to mind, all they did was dance and not very well. They also got drunk and stoned a lot and Prince nearly fired them several times, matters came to a head when the Revolution disbanded (It was that a lot of the white members thought they were only in the group because they were black and good friends of Prince's). Incredibly Greg and Wally stayed through to the SOTT tour.

So what are u going 2 do? R u just gonna sit there and watch? I'm not gonna stop until the war is over. Its gonna take a long time

Say You'll Be There as THE only exception, I strongly agree. nod Victoria (AKA Posh Spice) was just there while Mel B, Geri, Emma, & (especially) Mel C had most of spotlight as co-lead vocalists on the first 2 albums. Of course Victoria's role did increase after Geri left the group the first time. I think the Geri-diss song Tell Me Why was the first time Victoria was the lead vocal on a Spice Girls track.

I gotta admit that Victoria had, at least, a clearly defined role/style during the 96-98 years, her voice was the worst by a mile but she was certainly nice to look at (I repeat, back in the 96-98 years); after that golden era, she became the bored, useless, stupid, skinny, cold and $-lover bitch she was destined to be. She was the one that destroyed the group's (limited) credibility...

Yeah, she was the whole group, at least outfront-wise. Wyclef saved Beyonce when he saved DC with his remix to "No, No, No" so I guess that accounts for something lol.

Yoko Ono of John Lennon & Plastic Ono Band

Can someone please tell me WTF did Yoko ever do musically that justified her as a member of ANY band (being John's wife is NOT a good enough excuse)?!?

But you can't judge the length of Wyclef's career against the length of headcase L-Boogie, because she dropped out the biz altogether. Had she stayed, I'm pretty sure she would've had a greater career than Wyclef, and even branched off into film. And a lot longer than the Spice Hoes evillol.

rolleyes @ your lack of knowledge for music history.

You really must hate The Spice Girls that much to diss them in every other post that you make. Give it a rest. I get the picture. Their music isn't for you. So why do you bother hating on anyone (myself or otherwise) for having compassion for those ladies?!?

And BTW, The Spice Girls reunion lasted a lot longer that The Fugrees reunion ever did (despite that #1 fan Dave Chappelle had to force Lauryn/Wyclef/Pras them to do it). And to make matters worse, there was NEVER a Fugrees reunion album. Why? Because they still do NOT like each other at all.
