9. "You Could have Both" (from The Long Blondes' 2006 album Someone to Drive You Home ) - I could (and have) listened to this track repeatedly.
... A jaded woman willing to share another woman's man without a care. Sometimes I wish I could be a woman like this...Not necessarily
some man's side chick, but a woman with a more "fuck it" attitude. The line, "I don't kid myself about happy endings,
I'm too old for that now" pretty much says it all.

:hearthrob: ugh. wow.

And Nina...honey, say no more.
Did some painting to it.

YES exclaim SHE exclaim DID exclaim

biggrin

1 - Black Beauty - Alrighty then! lol WTH are you doin, where is my innocent little sister kidsgirl? boxed But you know, I knew this other girl was just waiting to get out headbang This is my kind of love song love Aint buying for one second ANY EXCUSES, ANY LIES OR ANY PROPAGANDA

WHO.

IS.

SHE question

DON'T

LIE exclaim

Lie to yourself if you wanna but think before you lie to me :cuttingofflegssohecan'trunaway:

clapping worship

2 - Kiss Kiss Kill Kill Damn, that sounds like Lucinda Willams lol

3 - I Just Want to Make Love to You :pushinghisassdownonthesofaandhoppinon: clapping Did you know she masterbates and felates microphones during her shows? lol I have this radio show from someone who went to her show and was shocked. Her reaction is hilarious! lol I'm not too familiar with Etta James' body of work but it is brilliant to hear this. 1-Don't lie to me 2-kiss or I kill you 3 -pushing his ass down on the couch! lol

4 - I get Cravings I'm sure you know this but she passed away last year sad sigh LOVE this album but haven't heard it in forever because I can't locate my copy but THANK YOU for including her. Did you know she sang with Soul II Soul? touched So sad that her career was so short lived. Would have loved to see her evolution. This is a GREAT song for this mix. Adds so much context and depth rose

5 - Dirty Pool LOVE that you put the flipside on this joint! biggrin A man's perspective. clapping :devastated:

6 - Human Fly Vocally this sounds like a Mix between Sia Fuhrler and Tori Amos. I love that you defined the pool playin scamp here! biggrin

7 - Do I Move you? EXCELLENT MUSICAL PROGRESSION! clapping The thing that is so awesome about Nina is how fierce and fearless she was at a time when it would have been a million percent understandable for a black woman to be hiding clapping

8 - Jesus Doesn't Love Me - *$@*! IT! There comes a point where you just gotta say whatever and DO. WHAT. YOU. DO exclaim biggrin

9 - You Could have Both - Why do I picture a biker gang hmmm Have you been snooping in Sexton's collection? lol Who is the singer? She sounds very familiar but I can't peg who this reminds me of. Concrete Blonde comes to mind but she is like a chameleon because there are others here too. I just love all the abstract statements that have you thinking a million miles a minute and trying to keep up with them all and then you are thrown back into the frenzy of the music worship

10 - Ciao Baby Just LOVE the blending of musical elements here. This is a magnificent car. A simple drum engine, driving an electro vehicle with accoustic detailing clapping

You have been one of my absolute favorites practically from day one. I have loved watching your musical evolution as you soak up new music and become influenced by the great musical minds that roam this forum. This mix, so far, is the most cohesive and so thoroughly Epic in scope. This mix is all about trailblazing. My favorite tracks are the opener and closer but Black Beauty is my favorite BY. FAR. I've never seen 3 Faces of Eve and now I have a movie on my to-do list! biggrin

I was listening to The Cinderella Theory last night and thought of you totally when Airbound came on.

Feel the thumpin in your ears and you know you're flyin
And you finally get the feeling this is where you belong
There's nothing on this earth that can take you higher
And we finally get to see you soaring out on your own

Airbound…… We gone, never to ever come down

YOU HAVE ARRIVED exclaim exclaim exclaim

This morning when I was taking a shower I was thinking about this mix and I got WAY PHILISOPHICAL. You mention 3 Faces of Eve and I thought of Eve, the mother of Humanity and how she was forced to play 3 different games. She was at the mercy of three male forces:

1-God
2-Adam
3-Lucifer

Each of these male forces placed their expectations on her and she was expected to obey them all. She literally had 3 faces of Eve, seen differently through the eyes of each male force. While Adam stood on the sidelines, in blind obedience, Eve chose her own destiny and strove for knowledge instead of blindness. It's said that she was made to pay the price through physical pain in childbirth and subjegation to man however over the millenia woman has had to evolve in a way that gives her that initial sense of controlling her destiny. She has had to figure out ways to control and outsmart man, since he holds the ultimate physical trump card. Women have had to develop gameplans around the fact that she is physically weaker than man, this evolution brought womankind her intuition and charm.

This mix is an ultimate expression of what it is for womankind to control her world. clapping

Miss Tre-C,

Nice collection of songs and cool movie reference. thumbs up!

Even with great tracks from familiar heavyweights like Etta James, Stevie Ray Vaughn and Nina Simone in the mix, my favorite is the opening track by Kudu (Black Betty). thumbs up!

Here's the actual woman The Three Faces Of Eve was based on...

...Chris Costner-Sizemore (Pt.1 of a 3 clip interview)

Finally, if I wasn't married, i'd volunteer to be your first willing victim...

...when you decide to go Eve Black. wink

Supa! I wish you had written my summary for the mix because you got the vibe spot on, and took it deeper than I was even thinking!
lol
When I first saw the movie, I was thinking afterwards about a woman's struggle to please everyone, and in the process, losing herself. I always wonder how it would feel to reach some break point, where your repressed personality just breaks away and begins living a separate life of it's own in rebellion (not that I'd want to experience that necessarily)

As for the music

... If you come across any clips online of Etta James getting dirty PLEASE send them my way! lol
Also, I'm glad you got the point of Dirty Pool's inclusion, though in retrospect I could have put a few more men on here I guess. My music collection is pretty heavy on ladies though.
If you will, so will I

Neal! I'm so glad you checked it out!! biggrin I love Kudu's entire album, so hopefully a follow up will come eventually.

I really want to read the books based on/by Chris Costner Sizemore, because I know most of her story was not even tapped into on the movie.

Oh...and this lady, and her outfit... drool I'm going to used her as my rolemodel razz

You're welcome, it was a fun listen.
I really appreciated the fact that the set wasn't isolated to one genre.

There are three books that Chris Costner-Sizemore has written:
Strangers in My Body: The Final Face of Eve - 1958 (using the pseudonym Evelyn Lancaster)
I'm Eve - 1977
A Mind Of My Own - 1989

Now, I get first dibs on the photo-shoot negatives when you model the gear of your new role model.
