Sly at Coachella

I didn't see the live stream, but, based on this review, it sounds like more wierdness from Sly.

Say what you will about Prince, I dont believe he will ever end up like Sly. I dont even care what he does now. At this point, he is like the drunk uncle who was in Vietnam that everyone has to tolerate at the family cookout. It is sad and no one seems to be able to do anything about it.

I'm MORE confuse as to how Prince popped out magically in a thread that isn't about him.

Say what you will about THE SLY,,,,but had it not been for the door he opened, Prince wouldn't be having a J-O-B today biggrin

U would have 2 add another 50 names 2 that list before it would remotely become anything looking like truth.

I love Sly but I probably wouldn't go see him in concert again.I saw him in 2007 and it wasn't a show...it was more like a sideshow lol The Family Stone Band came out, played three or four songs (big hits, mind you) before Sly finally decided to make an appearance. He sits at his keyboards, sings a few songs (including a great version of "If You Want Me To Stay"),then slowly gets up and exits the stage. The band looked confused, unsure of what to do next, lol. Most of the audience were headed for the exits at this point.Sly comes back to the stage, but doesn't perform. He says "I had to leave because the cops are out to get me" nuts

End of concert.

lol yeah,it really sucked.Usually I support the idea of old school artists making a comeback but sometimes,it's just not a good idea.Sly really shouldn't be touring.

What did you think of the For The Record book?

I started reading it today and even though its fascinating,,,,its gradually heartbreaking too. The author seemed hell bent on focusing on Sly's "erratic behaviour".

And some of the stuff I read are just evil omfg

Still a good book, although I wish he gave "the music" a fair treatment.

Very interesting book.I have a more recent book on Sly Stone that I got for Christmas last year.Didn't finish reading it,though.

I wonder if we'll ever see a Sly Stone biopic? hmmm

I think sadly he might just need money for drugs. He doesn't seem to be making any attempt to be better as, say, Brian Wilson is. He just makes the required appearance. There's probably a clause in his contracts that says he gets paid if he's onstage for at least 10 minutes or something, so that's all he does.

The sad thing is that his voice seems to sound okay, and he probable could be good. I wouldn't see Sly at this point, it would just be sad.

Though seeing Sly these days on stage is sad, he probably
has a point about Jerry Goldstein.

I see Sly has been buying his hair the same place George has been buying his.
..hate to say it but it's been over for Sly for a while. He should have came back 13 years ago.

I was hoping for a new CD a while ago but I don't think it's coming. The band sounds great though.

That pretty much sums it up. Interesting comparison to Wilson, as well. It doesn't seem like the people around Sly are much help. Wilson had a support system.

As for the contract, I read that it required Sly to post a bond, which the promoter could collect against if Sly didn't show up.

these mf's that still play with him after all this time must be really hard up to even give him the time of day, especially on a stage.

The sad thing is...the band sounded GREAT.They just couldn't get their "leader" to stay onstage,so the whole show was cut short.
