there's better compilation albums, like the 2 disc Essential MJ . 4 demos (one being passed off as a new song) and a poem you can read for yourself in the Dangerous linernotes is not worth the money to me. If you own his solo stuff don't feel bad about not getting it. Watch the movie or buy the dvd when it's out and call it a day.

Call me a completist but hearing the demo for She's Out Of My Life (think acoustic version) is worth the price of admission alone. The Beat It demo gives you a glimpse into how MJ would use his voice for sketching out songs, and the demo for Wanna Be Startin' Somethin' is cool given you get to see how fully formed the song was before hitting the studio. The spoken word piece is a bit ho-hum.

You can always buy these tracks on the special itunes only release that doesn't contain the rest of the tracks (those you already have on pretty much every other compilation).

Nope. Sony intentionally reported world wide box office projections as fact several days ago. "This Is It" has not crossed the $200 mil threshold (yet).

Sony have released a statement apparently, admitting the use of old Live vocals and demo material in This Is It. It will be interesting to find out what was live and what wasn't. Obviously they used prerecorded tracks in the heavier dance sequences and as pointed out by several orgers they used the old earth song demo at one point.

Anyone read it?

Michael Jackson's concert movie This Is It reportedly uses vocal recordings that predate the singer's rehearsals for his cancelled London O2 residency.

According to The Sun, the movie incorporates older sound recordings with new rehearsal footage, including a 1991 demo of 'Earth Song'.

Ex-BBC senior studio manager Andrew Rose said: "Throughout the film sudden changes in vocal timbre suggest the dropping in of older recordings which may have required significant digital manipulation to fit the new live backing."

He added that Jackson's voice on the film version of 'Billie Jean' was "not that of a 50-year-old man".

Jim Kennedy of Sony Pictures said: "In order to fulfil Michael's vision for his fans and his children... the filmmakers had to incorporate some pre-existing materials, including vocals, where the rehearsal footage audio was incomplete and/or inaudible. "In addition, usage of master recordings, such as 'Earth Song', was credited in the end titles."

I can't find any words that will do justice to This Is It..

I was mesmerized, I was crying, I was singing, I was laughing.

So very incredible to be invited to the rehearsals.. I am honored.

Everyone I've recommended the film to has gone to see it and have experienced the same loving atmosphere in the cinema. Moreover, they've been thoroughly impressed! Great that they extended the time for viewing.

1. How much better did MJ look than he did in 2001?

2. Threatened sounded really good at the end of Thriller. I wish he would have played some of the invincible tracks with that Live bands.

3. He did look skinny at some parts, especially compared to his dancers who were more muscular.

4. I really like the ppl he choose, What's the name of the bugged eyed Black guy, he's toured with Michael before, Michael must like him, or maybe he reminds him of Jermaine.

5. I love Jam. That's a much better starter than WBBS. Jam should come first, WBBS later.

6. I loved how the crowd was responding, I should have seen at an earlier time with a larger crowd.

7. The Thriller video was too scary, I would not have enjoyed it live. Way too scary for kids.

Michael Jackson’s ‘Captain EO’ Will Return to Disneyland

“Captain EO” is coming back.

The word from Hollywood is that Disneyland is planning to revive Michael Jackson’s 3D film beginning in January. Heavily influenced by “Star Wars,” the 1986 short film was produced by George Lucas and directed by Francis Ford Coppola. Back in those days, Michael had the money from “Thriller” to make anything happen.

Among the cast: Michael, Anjelica Huston, Dick Shawn -- the latter died less than a year after “Captain EO” was released.

It’s the 3D version coming back to Disneyland, but you can watch a less complex version on YouTube (see below).

“Captain EO” was pulled from Disneyland years ago. But with Jackson’s “This Is It” up to about $220 million worldwide, interest in him is rekindled. It’s another tragic irony for Jackson. And, believe it or not, the “This Is It” companion CD looks like it sold well over 125,000 copies last week — even though it’s just greatest hits.

“Captain EO” contains a video of Jackson dancing and singing a song called “We Are Here to Change the World.”

No word yet on whether Huston or any of the other “Captain EO” cast members will get paid for this revival. According to sources, Disney has the right to use the film whenever it wants to. I’m told they’re even thinking of having a premiere — with a red carpet — if they can get Jackson family members to attend. Hey, La Toya — you should call them right away!

New York, NY (CNS) - MTV and the various channels under its network will be the only places to watch "Michael Jackson's This Is It" when its ready to premiere on television. The critically-acclaimed concert film is expected to air in 2011.

MTV Networks acquired the rights to air it for an entire six-year window on its channels which include MTV, VH1, VH1 Classic, Palladia, and even BET and it's new channel Centric. The film shows Michael Jackson preparing for his sold-out shows at London's O2 Arena which would have taken place over the summer. It features performances of classic hits like "Thriller," "Billie Jean," and "Human Nature."

"The film is a true testament to Michael's musical genius, passion and commitment to his craft," said Van Toffler, President of the MTV Networks Music Group. "Michael Jackson has always been inextricably tied to our viewers as they witnessed his evolution from a talented performer to a global icon who redefined music.
