I'm surprised nobody has mentioned the Prince related part of the interview. Kenny Ortega tried to get Michael to stop working so hard, to stop recording and just focus on getting ready for the show. Michael said he had to channel his higher power. Ortega said, can you talk to your higher power and have them hold onto things until we get to England and we'll set up a studio at the arena and another at the hotel so you can work on new music then. Michael said I can't, if I do that, God will give the music to Prince. He went on to talk about Michael's admiration for Prince and how much he liked Purple Rain.
I have a old mj book called The Magic and Madness. It says that Mj went to see the Purple Rain movie premier and mj sat in the very back with his shades on the whole time, and he walked out of the theatre 20 minutes before the film ended, and mj said he thought prince was mean lookin. I guess mj gained respect 4 him through the years.

It also says that Mj saw Prince and madonna as competition and that He didnt like Mick Jaggers voice and that he was upset that he didnt win the Album of the year award at the 88' Grammys

The author acts like he and Michael were great friends and a fly on the wall for all these so-called conversations when he only interviewed Michael in the 70s lol

i just find it strange that the people who were just outsiders, not that close to michael, hadn't seen them in years....fans....claimed that MJ was not well for these concerts when the people closest to him....his manager, dancers etc. said he was doing great. They would know....not these people who hadn't talked to him in years or never had close contact with him. I am beginning to think that something really shady happened....something bigger than manslaughter. Things do not add up.

Some of those fans were saying he seemed okay

It wasn't until Karen Faye changed her tune when those fans changed theirs

nod I had a crazy experience earlier tonight with that whole scene

"Dirty Diana" is not on the CD, so it won't be in the movie. And didn't they say it was some elaborate number, one of the very few new things in the show? Weird that they are not going to show that...

Michael didn't attend the Purple Rain Premier. Warners Bros held a screening for folks who worked at the company on the lot of WB in Burbank, Ca. Michael made arrangements with Warners to see the film there but was late to the screening. The studio brass held up running the film UNTILL Michael showed up. He sat in the last row of the theatre all the while keeping his shades on. 10 minutes before the film ended, Michael got up and bailed. This is what was quoted in the book of what Michael thought of the film..."The music is o.k. I guess. But I don't like Prince. He looks mean and I don't like the way he treats women. He reminds me of some of my relatives. And not only that, the guy can't act at all. He's really not very good."

Can someone explain this one. To my understanding, singer Paul Anka is getting 40% royalties for the song "This Is It". If MJ wrote it, copyright it, and gave it to Sa-Fire, why is Anka getting royalties from it.

The original "This Is It" was written by Michael alone in 1980. 1983, the song was re-worked with the help of Anka.

WHO says it's the reworked version of the original song?

The new song's name has always been I Never Heard. That line is even in the chorus. It was written in 1983.

They just chose this song because the verses start with This Is It.

They probably didn't even hear the other, the real This Is It song.

I don't get why some fans think it's a rewrite of the 1980 song. We got fooled by Sony, because This Is It NEVER was called like that.

I think they met more than once. Taraborelli worked for Ebony, so he might have met young Michael.

Then there was the infamous - speaking-via-Janet- interview from 1980/81.

But MJ surely DID NOT consider RT a friend, because he was always gossiping MJ.

In the documentzary RT claimed more or less that MJ was a pedophile and that was what broke his neck.

I just found these two videos of him back in 1993 naming off some of his unreleased material. It's kinda sad to look at this, but at the same time it's interesting to see how Michael had the knowledge to know what he wrote and what was in fact released and unreleased:

This is another interesting video of him back in 1993 talking about his vocal techniques and how he wrote songs. There is also a demo of 'The Girl Is Mine' played in Part One of the video. Man I miss him! R.I.P Michael

Well, I think out of all the authors out there writing about MJ RT is the most comprehensive. His books are warts and all, but he does have greater insight into the life of MJ than most. I don't think his books are 100% truth, because unless he spent everyday of his life with MJ with a tape recorder in toll, there is no way could know word for word those long drawn out conversations that MJ supposedly had. However, he writes aboout the positive and negative, without necessarily putting a slant on his writings like other authors. In his books he dosen't state as a matter of fact that MJ was gay, pedo or straight like other authors have. Infact he was one of the few authors who has stated that MJ and LMP did indeed have a healthy sex life, even if the marriage was a PR exercise. He writes what he writes and then leaves the reader to decide for themselves what to believe.
