I was looking through JET magazine today. BET has an exclusive television premiere of " THE KING OF POP" on Saturday August 29th on Michael's birthday time 10/9pm central.

"You Not Me"

Why can we see eye to eye
She thinks she right, he's wrong
He thinks he's right, she's wrong

Yesterday I set you free
or is it that you walked out on me
Too blind to see the truth that be
the hurt's on you walk carefully
open your eyes if you cannot see
my love's so right

I blame you you blame me
The truth, the truth will set you free
A life for me, no more we

You put the rest on yourself
I hope you'll see
it's living in love for me, it's living in love

You took the car, but I hold the key to happiness

that's what for me

Material things don't mean much to me

Some of these lyrics were used in The Brothers Johnson track "This Has To Be"
"We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them. And we call them genius, because they are the people who change the world."

Yep. His jacket, shoes & glove made him stand out. I'd love to see the whole Motown 25 show. I'm dying to the infamous Supremes incident.

One thing is clear Timmy,

He doesnt have much of an artistic legacy.

The Jackson 5 / Jacksons simply copied the popular sounds of Sly and the Family Stone and Motown.

Off the Wall and Thriller did benefit a lot from Quincy Jones production.

The Bad album was awkward allready, a very dated and forced sounding album in retrospect.

Dangerous was MJ trying to be hip with generic, mediocre R&B producers.

Invisible is even worse: some superstar living in his own mind, releasing an album the world isnt waiting for.

MJ is praised for being (originally) being an afro-american making it big in the mainstream, for his work with a gifted producer like Quincy Jones (right at that time that was, Jones hasnt really developed himself) , he is praised for his record sales in general.

People here seem to rate him based on commercial succes, that he was a fucked up individual sabotatiging his own musical career seems to be taken with a grain of salt

MJ might have been popular, but on an artistic level he is not a great artist, or an influential one, he was just a sell-out to superficiality and hedonism.

Did you say that with a straight face?

I understand you don't rate him as an artist - that's your point of view and you are entitled to it - but to say he wasn't an influential artist is ignoring generations of artist and musicians who claim him as a massive influence and inspiration.

Imo, plastic surgery wise he looked best during Thriller. The nose was very nice. But Bad Era had all the sex appeal so he's hotter to me then.

Here are 2 more:

He looked great during Thriller, but he was jus so skinny back than. I think he gained weight a LITTLE big later on. His eyebrows were also way to thin. I prefer them thicker. That´s why the Thriller era is not my all time favourite - lookswise.

But the Thriller pictures you posted, StillDirty, are hot.

A dangerous tour performance of Billie Jean with the red stripes on the pants photoshopped in. The notes detailing the pics in the album are pure comedy, and just plain wrong!

Remembering Michael
By Usher

"It goes without saying, the world has lost a true musical icon. A man who set the bar for artists to focus on a cause bigger than themselves. I'll miss the magic that is Michael.... The pinnacle of my career was performing with him on Sept. 10, 2001 in New York City for his 30th anniversary. On the eve of our performance, I remember him saying to me, 'None of this is about making a moment, but about making history.' His magic was striving to be the best. History will remember his body of work, which encompasses more than just music. And I will do my best to follow in his footsteps."

All these MJ pics are BEAUTIFUL, big ups to all those posting.

Oddly, MJ rarely looked bad to me...always handsome despite the numerous changes in his appearance. I guess he's an example of beauty on the inside being visible on the outside. mushy
