I've already written this like 5 times, but THIS JUST DOESN'T SEEM REAL. I just can't believe it. sad

Michael Jackson was one of those parts of my life that was never supposed to 'go away'.

Rest well, MJ. I hope you are finally at peace now. rose

I've been away from the Org for a while, but I just want to say that I am TRULY grateful for you all during times like this. After hearing some insensitive comments from co-workers, and crying quietly in my cubicle, I needed a place to openly express my grief. I am glad there are people out there who remember Michael for his legacy, and his music. Thank you guys...

Hi Rani Sweety hug very sad.. sorry u had to hear commetns like that from your co-workers!

The world didn't appreciate him. We didn't treat him right. He had to go through all the shit people threw at him and no matter what people say and will continue to say, he was always a positive person and he wasn't about hate or any bullshit. He was about wholeness

I'm gonna second this!

To hell with what anybody else had to say, I had my own opinions and I NEVER believed he was anything but a sweet, shy, person who wanted to live his live with peace and happiness. We repsected him and that's all that matters now.

I've been listening to the news for a while. I could not even come here and post I was so upset. I feel numb. It's on every channel.

Amazingly, FOX said that the two most recognizable faces IN THE WORLD were Obama and Michael Jackson.

I still cannot believe this. He was ONLY 50! disbelief

OFF-TOPIC: Barry White lived longer, and he died at 53(?). Rick James died at 50-something as well. disbelief

This is true. Michael NEVER talked bad about other people. So much shit was said about him, so much, but he never turned into a bitter, angry person. I have never heard him bad talk others or get nasty when people talked all the crap they did about him. He was always a positive person no matter what. I truly loved the guy and just can't get over that he is dead.

(CNN) -- Michael Jackson, the show-stopping singer whose best-selling albums -- including "Off the Wall," "Thriller" and "Bad" -- and electrifying stage presence made him one of the most popular artists of all time, died Wednesday, according to multiple sources, including the Los Angeles Times and The Associated Press.
Michael Jackson, shown in 2008, was one of the biggest pop stars in history.

Michael Jackson, shown in 2008, was one of the biggest pop stars in history.

CNN has not confirmed this information.

He was 50.

He collapsed at his residence in the Holmby Hills section of Los Angeles, California, about noon Pacific time, suffering cardiac arrest, according to brother Randy Jackson. He died at UCLA Medical Center.

Jackson's blazing rise to stardom -- and later fall from grace -- is among the most startling of show business tales. The son of a steelworker, he rose to fame as the lead singer of the Jackson 5, a band he formed with his brothers in the late 1960s. By the late '70s, as a solo artist, he was topping the charts with cuts from "Off the Wall," including "Rock With You" and "Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough."

In 1982, he released "Thriller," an album that eventually produced seven hit singles. An appearance the next year on a Motown Records 25th-anniversary special cemented his status as the biggest star in the country. Timeline: The life of Michael Jackson »

For the rest of the 1980s, they came no bigger. "Thriller's" follow-up, 1987's "Bad," sold almost as many copies. A new Jackson album -- a new Jackson appearance -- was a pop culture event.

The pop music landscape was changing, however, opening up for rap, hip-hop and what came to be called "alternative" -- and Jackson was seen as out of step.

His next release, 1991's "Dangerous," debuted at No. 1 but "only" produced one top-ranking single -- "Black or White" -- and that song earned criticism for its inexplicably violent ending, in which Jackson was seen smashing car windows and clutching his crotch.
If you're not doing the fucking, then you're taking one.

well, it is the news and it was an enormous part of his story. they're telling his story.

it was told ad naseum for the past 20 year or however long it's been. It's simply sensational in the first hour of his death and nothing more. It can be discussed forever if need be but really, people are respecting his art and the positive impact he had on people's lives in this first hour of his death.

I was thinking the same thing. MJ was def in my Top 10 and I cannot stop crying. I cant imagine what they are going thru. I would probably be in cardiac arrest if something ever happened to Prince. Makes it all too real. All my love and sympathy to all MJ supporters. I am heartbroken.

thats similar to what i just said out loud myself. i'm so sad man i feel your pain man. hug

I'm more calm but the tears haven't stopped. I don't care if people flame me for being sad. He was my hero. I loved him like he was my family. His music got me through being constantly teased in school, my parents divorce when I was 9, my cousin passing away 2 years ago, whatever problem I had, his music made me feel better and that's what he was about: Love

I understand why you're upset. I'm just explaining why they're doing it. If you don't like it, stop watching. It's a major part of his story, so it's going to be a topic of conversation in reflecting on his life and how he impacted the world.

I'm very sad and mourning as well, but TV news isn't playing a part in it.

FACT: Apart from then-Sony CEO Tommy Mottola, Michael never ever had a public feud with anyone. Michael never even argue back publicly at Paul McCarthy.
