Are you sure that El's voice is higher than P's? I thought they were in the same range. Also, not sure that Bobby was that great of a songwriter. Singer, yeah. I love Switch, but their music sounds dated. Very late 70s. I still say El and Bobby sound just the same. Now Chico is the one that can't measure up to El or Bobby. El can measure up to Bobby. check out Pink Cashmere. This song is an EXCELLENT example of P using a gospel vocal in falsetto. | |

I'm the exact opposite. I can listen to an entire Prince album, but not to an entire Debarge album because El's voice starts to bug me - same thing with Switch. Prince uses more vocal range and although he may not be the full throttle singer, he has more diversity in his voice than El. As far as a comparison between El and Michael Jackson - El can't touch Michael as a child (especially great singer then) and in his Off the Wall and Thriller days. With all the nose jobs for Michael and all the drugs for El they probably have both lost their voices. So, Prince is probably the only one that can sing now. | |

I just watch the live performance of secret garden (soul train music awards) and El sounded so good, live, it was like effortless to sing those high notes, he didn't crack, fall flat, sound forced, hoarse... just melodic and very pretty.
