I selected a lot of music that isn't really known, but now it's all over the map, it's spanning too many genre's. I still have a lot of cutting to do. Supa, you should be happy you already have 7 selected songs!

Spanning too many genres? You might want to skip my mix then. It goes from goth to folk to Britpop to Latin to R&B to punk. If I knew a polka song I liked, I would have thrown that in there too.

So does mine ~ well not exactly those genres but a similar diversity). I'm excited about this!!!!

biggrin Good to know! I try to have a little subtheme going on, like music from across the globe (that would still qualify as 'all over the map').

We're currently at fifteen, with three orgers undecided. I'll note everyone when at twenty.

Is 100Mb enough for a compilation? That's the max for yousendit, which I guess is the preferred distribution.

That's why I suggested a 300MB limit over at www.sendspace.com

That sounds like my kind of mix! biggrin Don't matter what it is as long as its GOOD!

Also, as far as the write up thing goes, Supa, were you talking about the accompanying documentation for the mix, or the discussion write up on here? Maybe what could happen is that, if we do it snail mail (or hell, even electronically) the people who get each mix add their own thoughts to the Readme file electronically speaking, or handwrite/type out something on paper for the actual CD version of hte mix if we do it that way. That way, it sort of becomes something of a chain letter, but the good kind. wink

A chain letter. hmmm I hadn't thought of that lol What I was thinking was more a locked thread where the person posted their write up and then it was a sticky for all of us to read and then at the end of the week (5 days?) the thread would be opened for discussion and people could nominate their favorite song there.

This will be interesting when we finally agree lol

I opt for the chain letter. More so cuz we only target 20 orgers, no need to have it available for all orgers to see.

Who cares about other orgers lol Not to sound rude but why not a thread? If people didn't make it in, they didn't make it in. Not complicated really.

You need to send an url from sendspace.com where people can download the compilation. You want that one available as well? I guess it's not really a problem. As long as you will fight off unwanted soliciting! biggrin

Unless someone is choosing ten songs that are eight minutes each, 100mb should be enough.

I liked your idea of having the thread in the fan gatherings forum where there isn't much traffic. Would the mods let us keep the thread there?

One person might have to send 18 orgnotes with the link so no org rules are broken. The 19th person with dial-up will get a disc. smile

On the top of the page it says:
Absolutely no illegal file sharing (via yousendit or any other site). Please be aware that the moderators here strictly enforce this.

So, the download url will have to be restricted to orgnote. Lets get this moving:

*Start making/finishing your compilation, be it a mix or compilation.
*Everyone will upload to yousendit or sendspace.com, whichever is your fancy. (all at the same time, so that only one mp3disc will have to be send into remote area's with dial-up).
*I'll make a list, alphabetically, of the participants. Number one will make a thread (wherever he/she wants) with liner notes and send the url through orgnote to all others, so that no one will accidentally miss a thread. The next week, number two will do the same.
*So I guess in two weeks or so, we can start!

I'm still at one song. Need nine more... neutral

We're at sixteen. I guess we don't specifically need twenty. So if you want in, come forth!

I got the impression from what tA told me that he was 75% in as of now. He'll make a final decision once we get everything figured out exactly.
