Needed to comment on this thread..MJ's fans are, for the most part, fucking nuts. Truth hurts. Not all his fans are like that, mind u. I know MJ fans whom are perfectly normal and even constructive about his behavior. But shit..some of his fans actually have the balls to think that there's nothing abnormal about him. I mean, I love MJs music, and I remain skeptical about the truth of the pedo allegations, but come on, even then, youve still got all the plastic surgery and other crap. U cant deny that he's got a few issues.

Prince fans arent so much nuts as they are overly elitists. That's the one thing that bugs me about alot of his fanbase. They think that no one can match Prince and that everything else that's popular is crap. Yes, theres some crap today that sux, but not all of it is bad. Also, even with that, they're never satisfied. Back when Rave and TRC came out, alot of fans seemed to want him to get back to making more commercial type of music and for him to get back in with the public mentality. Not only did he wind up doing that, but he even went back to being embraced by the public in a way that I didnt think would happen again. And guess what?? Alot of the fans were STILL bitching about Musicology and 3121. Not that they're great like his older output, but theyre definitely good albums. Much like Stevie Wonder cant make Songs In The Key of Life again, albums like Sign o the Times and, hell, even Purple Rain are too high on a pedastol for him to go back there again. So just embrace his music for what it is:Fucking good. That said, Im noticing an improvement in that with Planet Earth's early reviews

As for Madonnas fanbase..I'd say there a bit more level-headed. Yea, they love her, but I dont think they'd exactly take a bullet for her. I dont even think Princes fans are that hardcore. MJs on the other hand...but anyway, it probably has to do with the fact that, unlike MJ and Prince, Madonna has pretty much been alright in the general consensus and, despite her high celebrity, hasnt done anything THAT odd like Prince and MJ have. Yea yea..she's into Kabbalah. So what? At least she's not off the deep end about her belief system like good ol' Tom Cruise. She highly embraces it, but not to the point where people actually get turned off by her and her music gets extremely overshadowed.

I am not talking about the court case, I know the facts of the court case and I understand why he was found NOT Guilty. However, I also understand why people see him as a Pedo and why people think he is a "weird freak". You can't blame everything onto the media. The media were not the ones who told him to invite young children into his room and his bed(even his lawyers could not dispute this) on a constant basis, any fool will know sooner or later a scandel will blow up out of it; and it did twice. And in the first case it has never really been resolve because there was an out of court settlement, that alone left a cloud over MJ head, yet fans you like continue to blame such incidents on the media, even though MJ was in control of the kind of lifestyle he has choose to live.

The media never told him to mess up his once natural, attractive face. It's no use saying to Oprah infront of a worldwide audience 10 years on that you have vitiligo when the world saw him transform from an attractive looking African-American man to an ambigious looking white woman. Did Michael really believe the whole wide world would aacept this explanation after seeing his features as well as his skin changing simultaneously confused

The media can only use the ammunition you give them and over the last 25 years intentionally or untentionally Michael has given the media many bullets for them to shoot him down with.

As for his music, well I too prefer the earlier stuff, simply because he just sounds a whole lot more organic singing Rock With You or Human Nature than he does singing Speed Demon or The Lost Children or Heal the world. Having said that he is in the great position in being one of the very few artist out there who is truely diverse. But he probably could have got a whole more out of his solo career if he didn't have 5 years gaps in between his music.[/.

I notice that you like to generalize all MJ fans. You do the same thing on that other board too. We do not all make excuses for every little thing MJ does. I too can see why people think he is a pedophille and if I hadn't read about those cases I would think the same exact thing because it's true that

No one forced MJ to hang out w/kids all the time-That was his own doing and this ended up ruining his reputation for life.

No one forced him to get plastic surgery but he did it and now his looks are always being scrutinized and ridiculed. I personally don't see the problem with him getting the nose jobs though because he wasn't happy with it. I feel like if you aren't happy with something you should fix it.

Anyway YES Michael HAS TO take blame for these things but it is enough already. He is treated worse than ANY serial killer. I don't think he deserves it. I know people who aren't even fans of his and are tired of reading all the negative bulls*t. Michael hasn't been doing any outrageous stunts lately and has been keeping a low profile for the past few years yet they wont leave him alone and wont stop trashing him all the time. I mean I am not expecting them to praise him because I don't expect someone who has been accused twice of molestation to gain mainstream acceptance by the media or the general public alike ever again to be honest but I do wish they would back off and leave him in peace at least.

As far as his music goes, I too wish MJ didn't take so long in between albums because I believe for someoene who has been in the business for as long as he has, he should have had at least 10 proper albums out by now.
"And When The Groove Is Dead And Gone, You Know That Love Survives, So We Can Rock Forever" RIP MJ heart

"Baby, that was much too fast"...Goodnight dear sweet Prince. I'll love you always heart

It seems that many who consider themselves "fans", in general are pretty myopic when it comes to the "object of their affection".
Especially when they claim that particular artist's music is the only music they listen to.

Prince fans/fams are no exception.
Check out some of the thread subjects in the Prince: Music and More forum when he's in one of his low/no activity periods.

When a thread does get started that requires some objectivity and reasoned thought, (Can Prince Play Jazz? as an example), you'll notice that the usual P:M&M posters have avoided it like the FDA placed an E.Coli warning on it.

And so it goes.

I think Prince fans act the same and even worse when some artists cover his tunes...

Maybe I'm mad because I actually liked the Cornell cover, and maybe I'm harder on my fellow fan base than another one. I'm happy he's up and about, but I'm frustrated with seeing other artist tour and put out music.... there doesn't seem to be a fire for music surrounding mj, just a general sense of complacency amongst the fans. I agree with the recent comments of sky, cinna and others, but I'm not concerned with others might think, frankly the general public has low music IQ's, so their opinions are trite. The media = whores. Still, I'd rather converse with some of the older fans on here who are too jaded by mj's recent appearance to realize his more recent merits, than read through the sloth of ideas bandied about on MJ forums. Yes, some Prince fans are narrow minded and think Prince is the purveyor of every musical sound known to man, but they can call a turd a turd, and they are frequently hard on their idol. Kudos, to you though Krayzie, for calling some of the purple kool-aid drinkers out on a regular basis.

Yea, Prince can't do jazz. NEWS is fusion, bad fusion at that. You, pali, bk and Dezz held it down as usual.

I agree. However, have any of the artists that you mention had their "title" debated by the media as they have done with MJ? It's as if they are angry that Michael is called the King of POP; yet, they are satisfied and have no challenge on James Brown being called the Godfather of SOUL, or Aretha being called the Queen of SOUL or Elvis being called the King of ROCK and ROLL. It's alright for the black performers to be called godfather or queen of SOUL because that represents only black music. Why the challenge of Michael being called the King of POP when he is the King of all POPular music. That's not just an opinion or an MJ fan speaking, that is a fact. Can someone give me a person who has emcompassed and galvanized POPULAR music AND the music industry- this includes: racially, age level, socio- economic status, genre, universally,etc.- as Michael Jackson has done? If someone can come up with some names or a name, I am open for discussion. It's not about trying to glorify Michael, it's about facts and the truth.

"Self-Proclaimed"

But isn't that accurate? Didn't he name himself "King of Pop"?

I thought he wanted folks to call him "the king of Pop"?

she might have called him that first, but it was him and his people that perpetuated it and, at one point, insisted that MTV refer to him as such, or he wouldn't do anything with them.

Duh...

The irony is that Prince gets alot of respect from MJ fans but MJ gets nothing here but harted and prejudice .....which means that Mj fans are more opened minded about other artists music and they just don't bash artists to make their favorite artist the superier.....

At least you cannot find a thread in a Mj forum bashing prince fans...Thats a horrible thread, that tells alot of big difference between the two, although some Mj fans are young in their age obviously prince fanswho are the ones who need alot of growing up.....

The hatred that I find here for Mj and his fans is bewildering and knows no boundaries...

Can that claim be substantiated? Show the letter from MJ's people and then I will believe it. The only known fact is the press never mentioned the title as self-proclaimed until MJ's career begin to faultier.

I don't believe that Michael INSISTED that MTV call him the King of Pop or he wouldn't do anything with them. I think it was Kurt Loder ( a MJ hater) who made that claim. Let's not forget this is the same channel who claimed that they never presented Michael with an "Artist of the Millenium" award when it was listed on THEIR website and local newspapers carried a list of the award winners with the Award of the Millenium prominently listed. Another reason that I don't believe that Michael insisted that MTV call him The King of Pop is because I've never heard BET, Grammies, American Music Award, Soul Train Awards, World Music Award or any other award show claim that Michael insisted that they call him the KOP.

Some of you need to take a good look in the mirror! Some of you are doing the very things you claim to dislke MJ's fans for doing....why the hypocrisy? Some Prince fans, especially on this board, make it a constant duty to start threads spewing crap about MJ....I bet you if one were to pin some of you down on facts, you would just collapse! You have lunatic fans of Prince just as you have in any other artist fandom, so stop the bullshit!

BTW.....interesting to see some MJ fans from MJJForum here....uhm, wonder why though some of you have a different tone when posting on that board as opposed to this one?

As much as some of you profess your hate for Michael Jackson, why then is he the most discussed artist on this section of the forum? I don't see MJ fans devoting as much time to dissing Prince as some of you do here, so why do some of you keep trippin?
