Mine are, in this order:

1. Prince. T
2. George Clinton/Parliament/Funkadelic/The Brides/Parlet-
3. Earth Wind and Fire.
4. Curtis Mayfield.
5. Sly and the Family Stone.
Honorable Mention - Stevie Wonder. If I hadn't loved the others so much, he'd be up there.

A marvellous selection. But - all in the same vein. Don't you like a bit variety in your music? But of course to each his own!

5. Spot 5 is a tough one. I have many jazz artists who could fill this spot.

I also love Sting, Annie Lennox, Queen, Earth Wind and Fire, Chicago, and Jamiroquai. This is hard!

I'm more of a song person really...I get into people's songs more than their whole body of work. I like alot of different genres of music so I just kinda find songs I like by particular artists I like everything from Ramones to Sade to Talking heads to Duran Duran to Paula Abdul to Stone Temple pilots to Billy Idol to Terrence Trent D'arby...I just fall in love with songs really. Prince is really the only artist I can think of who's music is so phenomonal to me that I must have EVERYTHING he puts out. Otherwise I just get into a group's album that I think is really good or a bunch of songs from alot of different artists.

SenseOfDoubt

1. Prince
2. Joy Division (okay, now thats a band... )
3. Curtis Mayfield
4. James Brown
5. David Bowie AND Iggy Pop (due to their collaboration on The Idiot, Lust For Life and Low in a way... together with Station To Station these albums represent everything I love about them)

In my top five should also be Frank Zappa, whom I adored, but since about 2 years I do not listen to him that much. Anyway, the guy was my teenage (and beyond) hero, I find myself listening to some early Mothers nearly every day. I'll return - for sure.

Should also be there: Wilson Pickett, The Beatles (yeah, I am new to them and never thought I could like them), Cameo, John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Rick James... and so on and so on...
