Yes...there are issues in hip-hop. Watch BET Uncut and we can see the first step. It doesn't stop me from listening to the music, however. And yes, we're talking about Eminem, but one would assume the problem you have is with people calling black women "nigger bitches." If your problem only is with Eminem doing it, then I guess we're at an en passe.

First of all, your search included mostly songs that either only referred to men and was ending with "nigga" and started another sentence with "bitch" and vice versa. Black rappers don't say nigger they say nigga. I don't have a problem with my people using the word and some black people may disagree with me, but I do have a problem with a white man saying it against me and/or my people which is what Eminem did

first off what the hell is the difference between nigger and nigga??!
second what if i can up to you (i'm black) and say hey nigga, that wouldnt offend u? wat if we got into an argument and i said fuck u you dirty nigga, would that not offend u?

You bring up a good point. Sometimes I think some Black folks bullshit with the issue of the word. I'm Black so I know. The truth is that that word has been in the Black community since slavery ended, it's been passed down from generation to generation. Fact of the matter is that the term nigger and nigga means the same thing, the dialect is different, like hoes and whores. When a Black person calls another Black person a nigga, trust me it's not a term of endearment, Richard Pryor stopped using the term for a reason. When some Black folk use that pitiful excuse about how the word has changed, it makes us look stupid. I think we use the term to take the sting off when Whites or other people use the word, but it doesn't change a thing.

I cant believe the debate between a white person saying nigger bitch and black folk saying nigga to each other as a form of taking power over a destructive word.

You know damn well what the diference is whether or not you are black or white. Not saying that either is right in the grand scheme of things but dont trip and act like you dont know what the difference is.rolleyes

And lets not get off the subject of Eminem saying it either. Even he knows better than to use it.

co sign. it does make us look stupid, thats why it REALLY pisses me off when blacks say it. and ur right it doesnt change a thing when we say it, that whole taking the sting off..and re claiming a destructive word is even more destructive imo

Why on Earth would a black person call another black person a dirty nigga??? I have never heard a black person use nigga to degrade or offend another black person. That word was used by white people to degrade us. It is our word now. We own it and do whatever we want with it

Since I am female, I have never had anyone black come up to me and say "hey nigga" so I'm not sure what my response would be. I might not be offended, but I might be taken aback a bit. My female friends and I have used nigga in conversation, especially when talking about men or in joking "Can you believe this nigga?" "I'm the HNIC up in here" "this nigga is crazy." I've heard educated blacks use the word, even the ones who say the word shouldn't be used

There is an extreme difference when anyone non-black says it and I feel some blacks feel comfortable saying it around whites (which is wrong) who in turn think it's ok to say back. However, the context in which Em said it was to hurt and degrade because he was pissed at her. That's makes all the difference in the world to be. We were talking about Em and you decided to jack this thread and bring up a completely different issue in order to dilute my objections to him. This comment you made: not really. blks have NO right saying it just like whites have no right saying it. its hip hop alot of hip hop artists use that word, a lot of hip hop listeners use that word. if ur gonna get mad @ em for monkey see monkey do then get mad at everyone else too sounds like you want to say that because blacks use it, whites should be able to and therefore until blacks stop, whites shouldn't stop it either which is acinine in my eyes

i have. one black get mad at another black "fuck u nigga" "u ghetto nigga" etc...etc...i've seen it and its pissed me off every time. yea blacks have taken it back and doing every thing in the book u can do with a word.

There is an extreme difference when anyone non-black says it and I feel some blacks feel comfortable saying it around whites (which is wrong) who in turn think it's ok to say back.

exactly. thats why u got mad white folk saying it, even whites that are not racist. they feel if they blk friend say it around them 24/7 then they can say it too.

However, the context in which Em said it was to hurt and degrade because he was pissed at her. That's makes all the difference in the world to be.

does it make any difference when a black says it to hurt and degrade?

We were talking about Em and you decided to jack this thread and bring up a completely different issue in order to dilute my objections to him.

i did not decide to "jack the thread" i just stated an opinion that i thought relevant to the convo

This comment you made: not really. blks have NO right saying it just like whites have no right saying it. its hip hop alot of hip hop artists use that word, a lot of hip hop listeners use that word. if ur gonna get mad @ em for monkey see monkey do then get mad at everyone else too sounds like you want to say that because blacks use it, whites should be able to and therefore until blacks stop, whites shouldn't stop it either which is acinine in my eyes

no thats not what i am saying. personally i dont think anyone should be able to say it, its a horrible word and no matter how much we try to "own it and give it new meaning", the fact is that it will never truely have a new meaning. anyway, what i'm saying is how do u expect a person who's grown up around blks and hip hop culture to not pick up on the word? yea they know that its a bad word and they know theyprobly shouldnt use it. blacks do too and that doesnt stop them. hell half the black people that say i think dont even know what it REALLY means any more, i think the same can also be said for some whites now (not about em right that last line, just generalizing). i understand where u are comming from (i used to think the same things too) i just dont agree with it any more.

Eminem is a good rapper and his songs actually have some sort of meaning (there are exceptions). His newer song "When I'm Gone" is actually about something, where other rappers today just rap about sex/drinking/drugs/blah blah blah.
