Boy George Says He's Jealous of Madonna

Boy George just can't seem to stop talking about Madonna, this time he admits he is jealous of her. However this may all have something to do with the fact he has a book out and has to publicise it, and what better way to get yourself in the press than by talking about Madonna!

Pop stalwart Boy George has tempered his bitter feud with Madonna by confessing he's jealous of the Material Girl's standing as the number one gay icon.
The Karma Chameleon star infuriated Madonna last month when he slammed her for embracing the Kabbalah, the mystical offshoot of Judaism, claiming it preaches that homosexuality is a disease.
Madonna hit back, vehemently denying the Kabbalah is homophobic.
But rather than further fuel their war of words, openly homosexual George admits he's fascinated by Madonna's ever-changing image and outlook on life - and is a little jealous of her high position in gay culture.
He says, 'It would be dishonest to say that there wasn't a degree of jealousy, not that it's something I lose sleep over. I don't think about her day and night.'
'If someone like Madonna changes her morality and her stance on things people just accept it, whereas somebody else would be dragged over the coals for doing that. That amazes me and it is fascinating. She is very fascinating.'

"a little jealous of her high position in gay culture"

That's exactly what I said several weeks ago.Gay male artists like Boy George,Elton John and George Michael can't stand the fact that Madonna (a straight woman) has a bigger gay fanbase than they do.That's what all this bitterness is really about.

I think gays are flattered and look up to a straight person that loves them, moreso than a gay role model. For a lifestyle that has experienced so much hate and prejudice, a straight person standing up for their rights should be commended. It's great to have gay leaders and role models but when a straight person, that is also well loved by other straight people, is cool with it, it brings more acceptance.

I don´t care who´s the gay icon. I think no matter who it is, it´s great that they help to bring barriers down.

Madonna got on the high chair and took a stand for gay people before Elton John could publicly walk around with his boyfriend.
She made being gay more acceptable among the mainstream and opened many minds in the process.
There is still prejudice amongst homosexuals but Madonna opened many doors.

Madonna was out there in gay culture, whether it was her gay dancers sucking on her or playing lesbian with Sandra Bernhard. She didn't care and she succeeded.

She took shots against Catholicism and it's morals against homosexuality. She went head to head with the pope and told him to take a spot in line if he wanted to talk to her.

Maybe if Boy Geourge or Elton did what she did, they would be bigger among the gay audiences as Madonna is.

Yeah, it was no coincidence the people recently attacking her all happen to be gay men.....

He's sick in the head and obessed with her. Trying to slander her to get her (and everyone elses) attention is kind of stalkerish! That being said, I do like some of Culture Club's songs and his solo hits.

I understand where you're coming from but still the fact Madonna did all she did makes it no suprise she is the ultimate gay icon.

She stood up for the gays long before Kylie, Janet and even Cher did.
Cher was first ashamed of her daughter's homosexuality, but because of her gay audience she had to accept it or sacrafice a career.
Madonna is an open supporter of the gay community, something most artists would be afriad to do especially in the past.

the Totally Gay speical that ran on Vh-1 a couple years ago said that the modern gay rights movement picked up steam again after Madonna was the first celebrity to appear on the cover of the Advocate.

Gay rights started with Stonewall and contiuned through the early 80's til advent of HIV/AIDS.

After the Madge's apperence on the ADvocate and the apperence of PI's AIDS took a side seat to actual equal rights.

Madonna had three very close friends die of AIDS during this time.

Christopher Flynn her ballet teacher and the person her introduced her to gay culture at the age of 16

Street Artist and clothing designer Martin Burgouye

and Street Artist and Graphic Designer Keith Harring

Madonna was pictured with Martin as he was dying and people were telling her she would catch HIV from just being around him... she ignored them as was at his bedside when he died in 85.

Madonna donated the proceeds of her NYC Virgin tour Shows to various AIDS charities.

Madonna also donated her proceed from her NYC Who's That Girl shows and BAT shows and dedicated those shows to Keith Harring.

Madonna was the first singer to mention safe sex in her shows. with the words Safe Sex on the Giant Screen behind her during Papa Don't Preach on the Who's That Girl Tour.

Madonna also used the phrase..."Hey you don't be silly put a rubber on your willy" for the intro of Into The Groove on the BAT.

Madonna had a moving disco transfer into an orgy with the participates vahishing into a white light and ending the scene with her tribute to her friends who had passed during the Girlie Show.

She had openly gay dancers on the Virgin Tour, BAT, GS, DWT and RIT.

she spoke openly about gay rights while George Michael lived in a closet as Elton John claimed to be Bi and Boy George kept silent.

she has earned her place as the gay icon... speaking up for us in the 80's as an entire generation of gay men faced dying out.

Elton, Boy George and GM are probably upset that they weren't out there doing the things that Madge did

Precisely,
Madonna was out their on the battlefield fighting for gay awareness, while these 3 homosexuals were hiding in Shameville. And they wonder why she's the biggest gay icon?

Sure. You know me. I love some of Madonna's work. Love Ray Of Light.

I am just so tired of fanatics slagging other artists off to make the so-called star of their idol shine brighter. You do not have to defend Madonna. She is very capable of it herself.

The way you are insinuating that people like Elton John, George Michael and Boy George are not 'as good as Madonna' is pathetic. The way you refer to these people as 'homosexuals' is low. Why center on that? It just means you think there is something of a contest going on, which there is not.

And no. I do not hate you. I dislike the remarks you have made on this thread. I don't know you, so stop making assumtions.
