MJ's 'Butterflies'

What's you view of this song?

I think it's one of his best ever songs and vocals.

Beautiful. music

and the next one 'speechless' isn't bad either! wink

I used to hear that song alot.....vocals r gorgeous, don't often hear him falsetto in verses.....such a smooth song! I might have to hear it again now, thanx!

"Speechless" is cool too, only Michael could do a song like that, and I love it too!!! Never hear it much though! I used to always hear the first 3 killers off "invincible", then "200 watts" and then go hear something else.....gotta hear it all again!

As 4 "the lost children"? Errrm, I can actually take "little susie" form "history" album and track has actually grown on me in a weird musical type way, but "lost children" is quite horrible though!!!

So true. I thought I had stepped into the 80s when I first heard Butterflies. I also think Whatever Happens is an amazing vocal performance that tends to get overlooked. Love it!

One of the few songs I enjoyed from 'Invincible'.
When I first heard it, it felt like he was saying to Maxwell and other smooth crooners; "now this is how it's done, youngin'".

great song. one of the keepers from that album. actually, i enjoy most of the love songs from that album. the fact that it has 3 or 4 that are so good makes you realize that it's something that's sorely been lacking in his output for the last several years.

Yes, it's actually Floetry's song. Butterflies was a track they recorded for their demo they shopped around to get a record deal. Michael loved the song and wanted to record it, they allowed him to, if you listen closely you can hear Floetry. Floetry stated that Michael allowed them to add their flavor to his version while being interviewed on Soul Train. I love Floetry, but I have to say Michael's version is better. Check out their album "Floetic", Butterflies is on there.

Beautiful track! Love it! I am not particurarly crazy about Invinceble, but this is one of the songs that knocks me out. Along with Heaven can wait!

yay! I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks Invincible is great. Add Privacy to the two tracks you mentioned and there you have the album's failings. Other than those three it's a fine piece of work. The ballads on there are his best since Off The Wall. And to my ears it's also his best overall set since Off The Wall.

Butterflies? Yeah, it's one of his very best. I'm glad he chose to record it. smile

I disagree with you here, "Cry" was a bautiful track written by R.Kelly, much better than "one more chance." And it was a singles as well and a video was made for it (crappy one at that.) And i like the lost children, and he brings up a great point at the beginning at how "we sing songs for the wishing, for those who are kissing but not for the missing." IT shows how MJ really feels about kids.

And Butterflies is an amazing vocal performance from MJ, i think there was another crappy video made for it as well, but still a great track.

I dont mind invincible, i just think it was overproduced and too many friggin writers. There were some tracks where it took 5 people to write a song.

There are great songs on invincible. But many craps too. Like 2000 Watts. It's the first time MJ sang that low I think. But song sucks

Speechless
Butterflies
Unbreakable

That pretty much sums up why I think The Lost Children is barf lol And naturally i disagree about Cry. It was a single true, but so was Mr Blobby. neutral

see, i don't care how many people write a song if it kicks ass. wink
