ONE MORE REASON 2 PUT PRINCE IN TOP MULTI-INSTUMENTALIST LIST:
there's nobody outthere but PRINCE whose multi-instrumentation capacity has landed him on THREE DIFFERENT INSTRUMENTS MAGAZINE(covers, spotlight, articles, clinic)such as:GUITAR PLAYER(NUMEROUS TIMES),BASS PLAYER(1999,2004),KEYBOARD PLAYER(NUMEROUS TIMES).
if u know sum other guy who also did this,RAISE UR HANDS?hmmm,nobody?... cool

again my top multi-instrumentalist LIST goes like this,in rank order:
1.PRINCE,yeah PRINCE!not STEVIE,because...STEVIE'S NOT AN ELECTRIC GUITAR AND BASS PLAYER like PRINCE!
2.TODD RUNDGREN
3.LEWIS TAYLOR

4 all of u stevie's cock sucker fanatics...carry on..carry on! razz

Ooh wow, I surrender to your superior logic. Such refutation. Magazine covers, wow. I would've never expected it. Were you in forensics in high school or are you just a FUCKING MORON. lol . Honestly what's your next argument going to be, i can't wait because "stevie wonder can't play guitar because he's never been on guitar player magazine" surpassed my wildest expectations, almost as much as the logic behind "more magazine covers=more talent"

lol lol lol lol

suddenly this guy's trippin like a wild horse, maybe he feels insulted when i say"STEVIE'S COCK SUCKER",maybe he feels he deserves the title..lol
read my post u IDIOT BITCH!i say COVERS,ARTICLES,SPOTLIGHT,CLINIC,hence its not just merely cover, but the techniques and licks are analyzed,so it shows appreciation and respect to prince's guitar, keys, and bass playing.well dont get mad at me just because u dont see stevie on bass or guitar player magazine.lol
well covers r not always talent..but,we dont c everyday ppl on the covers.but be informed that its just not about covers, guitar player, keyboard player, and bass player are not magazinez for poster boys, when they put sum1 on the cover, they also analyze the techniques, the playing, and the licks and so on...,so it shows who's on the cover is sum1 who's competent on his instrument. whats your iq? 15? is it so hard 4 u 2 understand this simple logic?
enough of showing your stupidity on your effort sucking stevie's cock cool

btw, I know that you didn't explicitly say either of the things I put in quotes, but that's more or less what you're implying

The guy wanted to compare Stevie Wonder guitar playing with Prince keyboard playing. THis is ridiculous. THen he said that Stevie Wonder would be a better multi-instrumentalist than Prince if he only played two instruments. hahahhaha biggrin hahahah

I haven't clicked on this thread in a while, and damn, people are still arguing about Stevie Wonder.

Honestly, you and your allies demonstrate how stupid you are each time you speak, none of you can even write an articulate paragraph. Prince being on the cover of more magazines than Stevie doesn't prove he's a better multi-instrumentalist. When was the last time your precious Todd Rundgren was on the cover of any of those magazines? and he's much more talented than prince. When was the last time Budd Powell was on the cover of keyboard player, or django reinhardt was on the cover of guitar player or Charles Mingus on the cover of bass player? Never, because I'm willing to bet they were all founded long after they were all dead, and probably after Stevie's commercial and artistic prime. Besides, you haven't proven that Stevie hasn't been on the cover of any of those. Magazines will always use someone who's popular over someone who isn't for a cover photo, and guess what PRINCE'S RECENT EXPOSURE IS GREATER THAN STEVIE'S. Besides you haven't proven that Stevie's never been on the cover of any of those, which really wouldn't matter since that still wouldn't prove they hadn't had articles on him. Once again, YOU'RE USING MAGAZINES AS PROOF OF ARTISTIC SUPERIORITY, YOU ARE AN IDIOT.

One thing you all seem to be overlooking is that I have not once contended that Stevie is a better guitarist or bass player than Prince or even his equal on those particular instruments, but he does play those and many other instruments and he is at least the equal of prince as an overall instrumentalist. He's known as an exemplar on three instruments (drums, keys and harmonica), but he plays many more.

I wash my hands of these ridiculous threads, I'm sick of repeating myself and getting assinine responses with no refutation. I'm just ashamed that I'm the last stevie supporter to take the high road.

really? wow.. ok, i respect your opinion. look @ my icon and tell me what you think about that guy's multi-instrumentation. no joke on bass guitar, Keys, guitar and drums. Prince is still da man but Chuck is no joke for real. Listen to frontline off the niice N' Wiild CD and you'll know what im talking about.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, even though if you were to deconstruct the majority of both players' works from a musical perspective, Stevie's work is much more difficult to play and his chord structures are more complex. But, I digress.
Still, when you take someone like Tony MacAlpine, Prince is small potatoes in comparison to proficiency. Pick up any of his CDs and any song and his guitar playing is far superior in terms of proficiency. Opus 10 puts everything Prince has ever played on piano to shame. His bass & drum skills are above and beyond Prince's as well in terms of proficiency. Falling back on Prince's versalitity of styles isn't enough to refute this. That's just Tony. There's Greg Howe, who is Tony's equal, Stanley Clarke who actually plays much more than the 4 basics that Prince does. The man plays damn near anything with strings on it as well as a few exotic instruments that some of you have probably never even heard of. Comparing Prince to Stanley Clarke on bass is like comparing Andre 3000 to Steve Vai on guitar. His "playlist" is long. There are a lot of other artists that rank above Prince in this category, but most of them are jazz & classical cats. Just because Prince is most known for the one man band thing doesn't make him best at it by any means. You seem really obsessed with trying to rationalize Prince into being the "greatest". Can't he just be the greatest in your mind? This is silly.
