The Best Sade Album

in my opinion is Diamond Life.

Can't start an album off no better than Smooth Operator talking before the song actually starts. Then it leads right into "Your love is King". That song is the shit. "When am I gonna make a living", and "Frankie's first affair" are the songs that did it for me. and don't forget "Cherry Pie" and "Sally". I love Sade as an artist anyway so all of her albums are pretty good to me, but i love Diamond Life the best.
I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

"Stronger than Pride" is my favorite one. I'd say "Promise" is my least favorite...which isn't to say I don't like it...I just don't listen to it that much.

Not a fair question. mad
I could never decide. Recently though, I've been bumpin' Lover's Rock which I feel was beautifully done. I love the cohesive reggae vibe throughout the album. I remember when I was getting my senior pictures taken back in '93, the photographer put on Love Deluxe. My 18-year old mind said: "Oh yeah, she wants it!" But no, she simply recognized genius when she heard it, and knew that the voice and lyrics of an angel would relax me and serve to make my senior pics less dorky than they would have been.

For me, it's a strong tie between Love Deluxe and Stronger Than Pride.

Lovers Rock is very solid...But Love Deluxe is so rich and smooth in it's sound and texture...It's like a River of Honey along banks of Butter.

Ditto @ your description. I agree with everything you said.

"Diamond Life" is my favourite Sade LP.

I love "I Will Be Your Friend" and "Why Can't We Live Together" as well.

Stronger Than Pride. The title song kicks so much ass. It is very lovely. Keep Looking and Never Turn My Back On You make it a must-have album for me.

I float between 2:

The most emotionally explicit, bluesy and jazz-tinged album she's made. "Is It A Crime?", "The Sweetest Taboo" and "You're Not the Man" are among the great tracks.

and

An exquisite album, more upbeat than Promise but it's nearly flawless.

They shouldn't even consider this song "jazz". It's frickin' heaven.

oof, that song IS lovely. and "never turn my back on you" is one of the most mellow funk songs i've ever loved.

and the less said about "haunt me", the better - or else, as TOFKA says, i'm gonna need some alone time... redface

GangstaFam

The first two are OK, but I'm not super crazy about either one.

I'd give Stronger Than Pride, Love Deluxe and Lover's Rock all 5 starts, but I've gotta give it to the latter because it has the most personal meaning and emotional content to me.

"Stronger Than Pride" is my favorite for the jam "Turn My Back On You" alone. "Promise" comes in second with me because it includes "Is It A Crime", another one of my favorite Sade songs.

Stronger Than Pride is probably my favorite Sade album (for "Haunt Me", "Clean Heart", "Nothing Can Come Between Us" and the incredible title track). Love Deluxe is a close second, thanks to standout tracks like "Bulletproof Soul" (by far my favorite on the CD), "Like A Tattoo", "No Ordinary Love" and "Kiss Of Life".

I have the first two Sade albums on cassette only, but I bought the last three on CD (in the process, I bought Stronger Than Pride twice -- once on cassette, and again on CD).

I LOOOOOVE SADE!
My favourites are Is it a crime, Paradise, Maureen, and the whole Love Deluxe album. I also love the versoin of Never as good as the first time on The BEST OF album.
