But what can we perhaps (still) expect?

I mean, besides the obvious obligatory SDE.... could they finally set up something like a streaming service, to hear more unreleased music, like rehearsals or live concerts, remixes?

It's abundantly clear that at this rate, there are no MakeMillions to be made, right?

We all know that there is so much material lying around that only die-hard fans are interested in, stuff that is impossible to release on CD or Vinyl.

Why not bet on that too? Why not try to be positive and give the fuckers one more chance to fuck this up, or make it right?

.

I already pointed out that they couldn't even manage the digital re-release of Chaka Khan's album last year.

.

Another thing, why don't they just give up Paisley Park as a museum?

Why keep this expensive, poorly maintained building on a drip?

Don't bash me for this.

Wouldn't it be nicer to have an exhibion travel around the world?

.

They did that years ago and it lost a fuckton of money.

Agree
Either close it or make it work as a space or studio
The problem it has is that its not like electric lady where its in an easily accessible city
Minneapolis is not New York
I know studios arent used how they used to be but it would be great if pp could at least be used in that function
Without it though, idk if that would improve how the estate is run or boost its funding

I know. I was at the 'My Name Is Prince' expo in Amsterdam, but didn't want to pay a fukton for a poor VIP tour. (US style exhibitions in Europe just don't work.)

Couldn't you hold Prince's guitar for a few seconds ? If I remember correctly. Anyways.

I'm in the art business, and they just could do so much better imho.

But definitely NOT have it organised by the music industry, or Elvis' estate cowboys, but rather by people from the art industry.

They don't use purple light all the time, or puple satin thrown over every table or whatever.

And they should not turn it into an immersive playground, either.

After all, there is much more to show than just shoes or clothes.

Prince's archive is huge. With video material alone you can do a lot these days.

Or, let visual artists like contemporary sound and image artists some freedom.

That could be much more interesting, and somewhat in keeping with Prince's spirit.

Namely innovation, and a news approach of an artists legacy.

Why not show unreleased short movies? Videoclips? Link it with the eighties, with Warhol, with those he stole from himself to create his own image... Stuff like that.

Make him a human and a genius at the same time, not a god.

Prince also made drawings, and drew pictures himself.

He also had artwork made for projects that were not used. His directions for these projects put on paper. Etcetera...

I messaged Paisley Park on their Facebook page and by email (many times) suggesting a virtual tour of Paisley Park or photo slides of places you don't get to see unless you take a tour for those of us who live outside the US and will most probably never be able to visit. Never received a reply. The Estate is very controlling of what images get taken either by film or photo, and it's almost always the goddam atrium or sound stage, which makes up only a fraction of the place. I know they want to maintain the mystique, but the police photos are out there, so why not have it done just by a professional? By the way, seeing The Beautiful Collection Room was a real buzz.

Come on. There must be an SDE release this year. Or any release including several hours at least of previously unreleased material. I don't care whether it's purple or not. I don't care whether it fits on my shelf or not. Just release it. I bought that $20 cassette tape from 1-800-NEW-FUNK 27 years ago, so I'll buy anything. If it contains previously unreleased music. Please? lol

Just found out on his instagram profile he has another (unheard?) version snippet of "Sometimes It Snows In April"... playing... think it's a live rendition though... used in that same post.
