Absolutely not. I work in the music industry. Some releases are announced three months in advance. Others just a few weeks or even days before release - and some bigger acts still do the surprise release thing from time to time.

You assume to much. You also didn't know anything about D&P SDE being on the release schedules at my local record store via a WB music rep years before release.
It seems you don't know where to look beside here for info on Prince related things. You just pulled a made up date out of somewhere and made up claims on

And these guys release a boxset with like 15 vinyls, I presume?

You do a lot of presuming. But yeah, sometimes. There are no rules as to when you have to announce anything. I've announced one of my own vinyl box sets two weeks in advance. And others more than a year in advance - but that was for crowdfunding.

well, the estate does not communicate, that much is obvious. the previous people in charge
would let us know something, sometimes, at least. but the new regime, not so little/much.

all of our excitement needs to be laser focussed into 1 month of promotion and press for the
release they plan for the next year. before or after that, we're not supposed to ask them any
questions, for fear of being labeled trouble makers, trolls and libelous bints

we're supposed to just sit on our hands and be good little prince fans, as in: being quiet, not
aks questions, don't show any interest or appreciation in prince's art beyond the purchase of
pyjama's and scented candles from the online store. and maybe, just maybe, we may get the
odd request to retweet/re-x (?) some of their own in house fighting and mud slinging.

meanwhile, lucky us, we can enjoy the game of chinese whispers, slight of hand and abrasive
name calling that is the occasional outtake being (begrudgingly) trickled out by non official means.
