another thing Moon deserves a serious mention of is him being the first person to plant it in Prince's mind to be raunchy, what would Prince have been without that? would he have gone that direction anyway? who knows.

There is a women that went to JHS with him and she said his band did rauchy songs at school dances and remember Charles said they wanted to call their band "Sex Machine" but the adults would not allow it.

i don't think he ever made much off of Prince, this is probably his only chance, posthumously. He didn't do anything of note outside of discovering Prince.

U guys should look up the persons life to see what they've done

.

First, the creation of Moon Studios that young talent like Prince could actually have access to get a start is a good thing

.

PBS Documentaries concerning African cultures and wildlife, New Guinea, Solomon Isles etc and WWII

and international marketing for Fortune 500 companies

and the owner of a luxury audio company

.

ahhh he's probably living pretty comfortable.

.

But I also think again about this stuff. When it comes to fandom, why not let a hardcore fan own his part? You have people thinking about their mortality, Chris is pushing 70. I don't think he has any kids, and why should they reap any royalities from the song?

*edit: he had one son who died

[Edited 2/12/18 7:34am]

If prince had kids why should they reap any royalties from his work?

Because that is the damm law. Spouse first and children next if a will is not put in place. Anyone can stop kids from inheriting if they want to and if you do not make provisions the laws are there to stop wholesale looting of the estate.

400K for half the song... the Estate gets half and the other owner gets half. it is not taking a cent from the estate.

why not? especially if that's the way prince would have wanted it. sad that he had no kids though. Morris Hayes was telling a story where Prince was bragging that the "real" purple rain was never released, Morris expressed doubt, then, when he heard the stuff, he told Prince to release it now, that he'd be big again. prince said "No, it's for my kids" morris reminded him "you don't have any kids".

He may have wanted children and could not have them or never met another women he wanted to have kids with. I doubt he would of had his mind made up when he was speaking to Morris.

Who does not want to take care of their children?

He was the executor of his dad's estate so he was ignorant about estate management. I thnk he did extactly what he wanted to do and we need to stop assuming he did not make arrangements before he passed or set up trust.

We now the last four albums royalties are going to charity. So he knows what other provisions he made.

i've read about that in poplife i think. for his part, there is a story that Prince was in a record store doing something sometime during the Purple Rain hullabaloo and chris moon called from a pay phone across the street and told them he was watching, Prince supposedly ran out into the street and said "where? where?"

I know he claimed that but I still believe it was meant as a jab at Prince... even Prince sang about it.

and it was MJ's grand and great-grandfather's names... on his mother's side. And yes I knew that when he was born... I just do not believe it was not done in large part to get under Prince's skin.

That entire album won't make $490,000.00 in any form from the end of the auction to the end of time. If you bought the HIS PART of the rights to the song all you'd get is probably $5 a year and no say in how the song is used unless the estate agrees to your hair-brained sex lube advertising campaign. Which they wouldn't.

Because it is cheap. I am sorry most of the associates seem like desperate people who are close to putting their stuff in a yard sale.

Some have total crap to sell and just take it from auction site to site. Some are selling socks and scrapes of paper. People like Moon are overpricing what they have in a public space were fools know nothing about copyright laws and think they are buying into a ATM machine

Tacky, classless and pathetic.

I keep wondering how much money do people like Moon want.

I took that he was not paid for the song upfront for the early studio time... for the demos and such.

I thought the deal was ( and he said this) that Prince was going to learn how to use the studio equipment and record his demo in exchange for Moon getting co-writing credit for songs.

He got credit for two songs and he did make money out of one of them. Nothing also was stopping him from working with other groups in Mn or continuing on as a song writter.

Looks like he did well for himself. So what is the problem. I still think he talks like he is owed something and at this point he should realize he is not going to get anything else out of Prince.

All true.

Prince Scruse (1897 - 1946) the family name was originally Screws given to an earlier ancestor by a slave owner, but Prince changed the name to make it less offensive. Everyone knows how close Michael was to Katherine and it made sense to include her family's names in his kids names - Prince Michael Jackson 1 and Paris Michael Katherine Jackson.

.

For those of you not in the know, Prince is an incredibly common Black people name in the USA and even in Nigeria especially amongst the Ibo and Igbo peoples of the South East. It is however banned in the British Commonwealth as royal titles can not be used as first names. Here about 100 Maori and Islanders (White people like real names like Sophie and James) try names like Majesty, Realm, Rulaz, King, Prince, Earl etc.

Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

Prince is a common name among people of Color?

I've been alive for 45yrs in the States and Prince is the only man of color I know names Prince.
Cannot count Michael Jacksons son.
