Can someone give me the lowdown on the chances of getting post-WB material on streaming services? Who owns the right to all that music, and is it being sold to record companies etc?

NPG Music (The Estate) owns post-WB material.

I thought post-WB material already on streaming services?

Nothing between The Vault and his 2014 WB releases. Tidal has them, but no other platforms. Missing Gold Experience, Rave, etc.

Prince: 1958-infinity. Thank U for everything.

The last three albums are being sold at Walmart. I bought all three in the last 2 months. You can purchase any of his CD's now through at Walmart store or online at Walmart.com. Walmart didn't have the new CD's last year but they have everything now.

Sounds like Prince was in the process of putting things in place, in his way, which is good, but it kind of bums me out too.

Wal-Mart is not the vendor for all of his CDs, though. For example, it's possible to buy Diamonds and Pearls, but through other sellers on walmart.com, but Wal-Mart isn't the vendor.

All of Prince's music is available on Amazon as well.

Not sure if this signals changes but Judith Hill's album, Back in Time, is available on iTunes. Maybe it has been for a while, but I thought NPG released it in the fall of 2015.

Maybe not news. Also available on Amazon for download. No CDs other than second market.

The above link is correspondence from UMG to Jude Eide is in response to Lonny and the 3 siblings letters filed June 28, 2017.

Lonny and the 3 siblings letters to the Judge are their interpretation of the contracts. UMG again states that if the contract is not rescinded they will file a lawsuit against the Estate.

UMG specifically wanted to point out 3 misstatements made by Lonny and the siblings ("including two outright misrepresentations").

1. Lonny's reliance on an August 31, 2016 correspondence from an UMG representative is misleading and constitutes a knowing misrepresentation to Judge Eide. UMG contends Lonny continues to distort this conversation.

2. Lonny argues UMG knew it was getting "cloudy" rights. UMG agrees with this but argues it bargained for specific guarantees that no conflict existed as the one that is the center of the current dispute. The representations made by the Estate and Lonny were knowingly false guarantees.

3. The 3 heirs state they had limited time to engage with UMG in regard to rescission of the contract. UMG denies this claim and states they had an hour long telephone conference with the heirs. The 3 heirs also believe Lonny should be given deference due to his familiarity with Prince, the music industry, the UMG contract and the WB contract. UMG states Lonny is not in a position to play an impartial role since he is attempting to protect the lucrative commission he earned when the UMG agreement was signed. "Mr. McMillan's efforts to hold himself out as a credible and neutral arbiter of the agreements are undercut by his core conflict of interest and say-anything efforts at self -preservation."

In closing UMG states Lonny and the siblings letters are a last-ditch effort to protect Lonny's commission, and to defend against his misrepresentations to UMG.

You can buy Prince's WB music and Post WB (NPG) music directly in the physical Walmart Store. I bought HitnRun off the music rack in the physical store. Art Official Age is sold directly off the shelf in the store as well. It also depends on where you live, all Walmart don't carry the same items. I like a state 15 miles from my neighboring state and my state didn't have all three in store but when I went to the Walmart 15 miles away in my neighboring state they had all three CD's in store. I have always bought Prince CD's from Walmart; WB and non WB. Maybe they only carry so many and when there gone you have to buy online through other vendors so Walmart won't lose buyers but I do know for a fact Walmart here in the south carry Prince's music in store.

Quick money. They want the estate settled quickly because they are so much older. I'm not even sure they all have heirs of their own.

This is the group who had little to do with him as he grew up. Wasn't it Sharon who said she'd never been in PP before?

Lonny may have offered them a cut of his deals if they stick with him.

The original estate managers apparently do not listen to anyone that was around which is ridculous. Too many egos and no professionalism with the original crew of estate managers. Let's hope Comerica does a better job actually listening to what people had to say who were around. I know they have Rhoda Trotter who was a I.P. attorney for Prince and the one that drafted the WB contract around so maybe Comerica is not as hard headed as Breamer and LM>

Ouch.

In response to Mr. McMillan's email, UMG's counsel stated that Mr. McMillan's actions were "sabotaging [Prince's legacy] by actively damaging its relationship with the world's premier record company, UMG," that his proposals were "not constructive and smack of desperation," and that "his actions to date as relates to UMG appear to have done affirmative harm to the Estate and its beneficiaries." As a result, UMG's counsel stated that "UMG has no interest in engaging in further discussions with Mr. McMillan regarding any potential 'business solution' to the current dispute for multiple reasons, including that he has no authority to enter into deals or speak on behalf of the Estate, and that he has antagonized UMG by his conduct."

Maybe this needs to be a sticky since some people cannot get it in their heads that no one anything to do with LM.

He needs to go and if he was any sort of decent person he would remove himself from estate matters but you will see that he will not be doing anything of the sort and things are going to come to a standstill.
