Wait. Is Girl on Monteux 2009? I have that dvd but never really watched it yet.

eek How is that possible? Girl isn't on it but it's such an amazing performance.

And yes Montreux 09, and any 3121 is amazing. love

This was a very cool performance. But so was the entire show (especially night 2). Let's talk about the whole gig and some amazing guitar performances, especially on Joy in Repetition and The Love We Make. cool

All of the North Sea shows that year were incredible. The chemistry between Prince and Miss Andy was off the charts. He opened at least one of the shows serenading her with "Joy in Repetition." He seemed to be such a romantic.

Perhaps, if you were nicer, ACharmed1, there would be more people responding on your threads. A little kindness goes a long way. Try it sometimes. heart

The first show opened with Andy and Ida doing Foxy Lady which, as far as I know, was the only time that song was ever performed. The first night had a lot of sound problems and was a bit...strange... The second night opened with Joy In Repetition.

I think most of P's shows were professionally shot. His estate needs to do whatever it takes in order to start releasing his unreleased stuff.

I LOVE it, too, fen. Prince said in "Satisfied" that "foreplay begins in the mind." Lawd, knows he had it down to a science. Mercy...

I'm not sure which date, but this was shot at the North Sea Jazz Festival in 2011. Prince would caress Andy's face during "Take Me With U." BTW: I heart his shirt that she was wearing.

Yes I remember reading that the first show had sound problems and Prince apologized for it during the second night.

Didnt know he ever did this live..or ever. Girl is an underrated song.

It took me aback back then because he was talking abut marriage in the lyric and I felt.."ah no, we cant have a married Prince, that would change things" lol

the long version is a beast

He did Girl at the final Atlanta show too, I about lost my mind when he went into it.

There's a performance of "Girl" from Paris in 2009 that I like, too.

According to Prince Vault, NorthC, he performed the Jimi Hendrix cover, "Foxy Lady, twice: April 9, 2008 at the Green Door in Hollywood, CA and July 9, 2011 at the North Sea Jazz Festival.

Ah, thanks for the clarification. It was a recording of the entire second night that I saw awhile back.

That was the night Andy came on stage in Prince's suit and light up shoes trying to trick the audience that she was Prince. In the performance she tries to emulate Betty Davis whom Prince was teaching her about. It was a fun, playful performance with Prince backing her on vocals and guitar.

"We never played this before, but for you..."

This is how Prince introduced his jazzy 1985 sleeper, "Girl." After a few bars, he says, "Now watch. This is what happens in rehearsal." He then proceeds to walk the NPG ("Cassie," "Morris," etc.) through a brief practice session for a couple minutes.

Finally, P says, "Yeah! I love it! What y'all think?"

As the crowd roared with approval, he crooned the first words of the sexy ditty.

Girl
You excite me so
Ooh-ee baby, your body's like no other

.

Girl
It's you I gotta know (gotta know)
Ooh-ee baby, I bet you're quite a lover

.

Girl (ooh, girl)
I want to take you home
Ooh-ee baby you dreamy, I scream inside you

.

I want you in the worst way, you make me...

(At some point Andy Allo emerges from the shadows of the darkened stage. For her verses, "Girl" is changed to "Boy" and "I'm your man" is changed to "You're my man.")

Prince%20and%20Andy%20Allo-North%20Sea-Girl3_zpsicobxm2a.png

[Andy interjects the next lines of the shared verse.]

Ooh-ee baby, I think you desire me (ooh-ee baby, I think you desire me)

Possibly [jokes Prince]

Girl
Make a wish, baby (make a wish, baby)

Anything (anything)
We'll make it come true (come true, come true)

Me and you (me and you)
I want you
In the worst way, you make me

Maceo!!

Now, THIS was a steamy duet. Note to Prince's estate: PLEASE RELEASE THE 2011 NORTH SEA JAZZ FESTIVAL SHOWS!!!!

I totally agree. The 2011 NSJ shows are amazing. On night 2, he did an INCREDIBLE performance of "The Love We Make." Andy was performing with him. His guitar solo is one for the ages.

How about a thread in the associated artists forum (heck it can even be a sticky) for Andy Allo where anything and everything can be posted about her? Just a thought.
