This Christmas is going to be hard for her - and a lot of people. Re Turks & Caicos: she wasn't there last New Year's. I don't know about Dec 2014 or Dec 2013. Re the french interview: I think Prince was on a high just having discovered a new protege (a new inspiration AND, I believe, a new obsession). The beginnings of an obsession is one of the best highs there is. He had also not slept in many hours. Neither had Andy. Her eye puffs give that away. She did well in this interview regardless.

This Christmas will, indeed, be hard for many of us, angel, but this post (and thread) just happens to be about Prince and Andy Allo. And, unless someone has evidence to the contrary, I'm operating under the informed assumption that AA and P were still emotionally involved, indeed madly in love, and trying to find their way back to each other. Thus, in this sense, her grief is unique.

.

With regard to T & C, she probably wasn't there last year. Who knows if Prince was even there last NYE? Not that it matters, relative to my point that Andy is known to have spent NYE on the island with Prince. Even if it was only for one year, the place must hold extreme sentimental value for her. So, I reiterate: Before P's T & C estate is sold, I hope AA gets to spend a bit of time there to re-trace their footsteps along his private beach and watch the fishermen on Turtle Bay.

.

Lastly, during the French interview, Prince was almost giddy. I guess some would call it a "high," but he was clear-eyed and clearly in charge. He and Andy were definitely new during this interview, but you could still see that she had a profound effect on him. They had just left Montreal, where, if I'm not mistaken, she took the stage for the first time as a member of the New Power Generation. Your choice of the word "obsession" is interesting, though. Is that intended to minimize Prince's budding feelings for Andy, which were already on display during this interview? Lastly, what is being in love, if not an "obsession," of sorts?

FlyOnTheWall, I have been lurking on Prince.org for a while but I have never commented on posted anything until now. I must commend you for your tenacity in keeping this discussion thread going. The relationship between Prince and Andy Allo and its impact on the last five years of Prince's life is very relevant to any discussion of the five year period prior to his demise. His collaboration with Andy Allo resulted in the release of three albums -- SuperConductor, HitnRun, and Art Official Age. The nature of their relationship is relevant to understanding the songs that they each produced during the three years that they worked closely together. She appears to have had an impact on Prince while they were together. He was more relaxed, appeared to be happier, and more comfortable with himself. Two of his associates indicated in in the GQ article about their memories of Prince that he would tweet them and then quickly delete the tweet. However, Prince's Twitter account has two tweets to Andy Allo dated Jan 28, 2016, showing that they were still in touch in 2016, prior to his passing. The tweets are below. I also agree that the lyrics of their songs are very revealing. However, with Prince's lyrics it is alway good to verify with information at the Prince Vault website since he tends to pull some of his songs from his vault.

I know this is a difficult time for Prince's family and friends. I especially hope that Andy Allo is able to move on with her life in time. She had a tremendous experience but it is still devastating to lose a mentor, friend, and someone that she shared a strong emotional bond with. We still don't have a clear picture of the last two years of Prince's life. Although he had a lot of people in his life, he still appears to have been lonely. It is sad that Prince achieved so much that is just mind bogling! However, it is sad that Prince died without getting what he craved the most -- his own family.

Keep up the good work with curating information about the last five years of Prince's life.

Wow. Thanks, bibrose!! You get it: If one wants to understand Prince's final five years, Andy Allo holds the key. And, not only did their relationship spawn three albums, there was also a fourth one containing their sublime acoustic duets: Oui Can Luv, released for 12 hours on TIDAL by Prince in November 2015.

.

As well, her EP Hello, released April 2015, is not to be overlooked when examining their prolific production during Prince's last five years. P might not have been involved in the production of that record, but I would bet my life that every. single. lyric is about him. It is the story of how she tried to fight for their relationship, particularly in "Don't Ever Say" and "Into the Wild." The lyrics are profound.

.

And, to be sure, their union is still inspiring love songs. Now, with Prince having left this realm, she is left to wax eloquent about the memories and mistakes they made. In that regard, Andy's Music Mondays are nothing short of a revelation. Her new song, "Dandelion," revealed in this week's segment, to be released on her forthcoming album, is deceptively simple. It's not even finished yet but, already, it packs quite an emotional punch.

.

In fact, right now, it seems that Andy's Music Mondays are keeping her moored. She says that Prince wanted her to sing and play guitar, and by golly, that's what she's doing...as though her life depended on it. It seems to be her way of keeping him "alive." Meanwhile, she is pouring out her heart in the lyrics of her new songs. Plus, in a roundabout way, she is proving to the naysayers that she has songwriting chops and she didn't need Prince to write songs and give her the credit, as some claimed about some of the songs on Superconductor, like "People Pleaser." The girl can write.

.

Lastly, I think you are right to point out that Prince was still involved with Andy in 2016. Even though they were inexplicably estranged, I don't think either of them gave up on reuniting. In fact, I believe that they never lost contact, even after she split the scene in 2013-14. She even made an interesting social media post the week before (if not the day before) his passing that I would swear was motivated by Prince. I'll try to track it down and post it later. For now, thanks again for your words of encouragement. heart

Personally, 1Sasha, I liked the shorter, "Rock N Roll Love Affair" version. Toward the end, it was a bit too unkempt for my taste. In hindsight, that was the first clue that something was very wrong with Prince...cause the P we knew and loved didn't do unkempt!!!

Hi, bibrose! As promised, I found Andy's Instagram post from April 19 that, I think, was prompted by Prince. "You always know how to make me smile," she wrote. It was her last post before his passing two days later. As such, it would become a repository for condolences and messages from shocked and grief-stricken fans.

However, it is sad that Prince died without getting what he craved the most -- his own family.

yeahthat Bibrose, I totally agree with you. I think that Prince was using painkillers not just for physical pain, but for emotional pain. He experienced a lot of traumatic events in his life, starting with the divorce of his parents and being kicked out of his house as a teen. However, I can think of nothing more devastating than losing a child. (I go into more detail about my thoughts about this on the thread Where Did It All Turn for Prince, http://prince.org/msg/7/4...amp;pg=9.)

--

Prince clearly wanted children, and I think that if a person wants children, that desire doesn't go away until it is satisfied. Prince was SO looking forward to having a family in his late 30s with Mayte. Sadly, his time as a father was very short. So in his 50s, he had this huge musical legacy and millions of fans, but no children. To me, it just makes so much sense that the pain of losing his only child, Ahmir, as well as the subsequent miscarriage, still had an impact on him into his late 50s. There is also research to show that the loss of a child negatively affects parents many years later; I posted this on the Where Did It All Turn for Prince thread.

--

Prince's behavior later in life suggests that he still wanted a family. When I mean behavior, I am thinking of his behavior of associating with and working with many younger women after the divorce with Manuela, until the end of his life--the Twinz, Bria Valente, Damaris Lewis, and Andy Allo, among others. I believe that he was hoping that one of these friendships or working relationships would blossom into something more, into marriage. It is common knowledge that women are most fertile in their 20s and 30s. While fertility does decline for men with age, men don't go through menopause and can have children very late in life. Due to his religious beliefs, I don't think that Prince thought having children outside of marriage was an option. There is a lot of evidence (as this thread details) to support that he and Andy Allo had a romantic relationship. Her instagram post on April 24, 2016 is very telling:

-

Hi Prince,
I believe we all come into people's lives for a reason. You came into mine 5 years ago and each day we
spent together talking, traveling and playing music, the more I learned about myself. You taught me how to
love so deeply with no inhibitions, but you also taught me about heartbreak. You taught me how to push
myself beyond my own limits, how to be strong, how to fight but also how to be vulnerable and be present.
You are a mentor, a friend and much much more. We shared a great love, a great many laughs and tears. I
wish I had told you more, what you meant to me.
I am so grateful I had the honor of knowing you, the man and the artist.
I am the woman and the artist I am today because of you. I love you and miss you.
Andy
Ps. I'd give anything to beat you at ping-pong one more time. Just kidding - I'd let you win.

-

And for reasons that are not completely clear, their romantic relationship ended. At this point, only Andy Allo could tell us the answer.

--

For me, one of the saddest parts of Prince's death is that he died without any living children--because I believe that he really wanted a family.

Like most people, amimissinsumthin, I think with my brain.

A little defensive aren't we? FYI- your "thinking" doesn't prove anything. I'd like some receipts as well, besides pictures of Prince looking "admiringly" at Andy that have littered that last 40-some pages of this thread. lol Also, if this instagram message was directed at Prince, I'd like to see the conversation. I don't think that's too much to ask. Otherwise, "thoughts" are just conjecture.

.

Oh yea, why is this thread in the main Prince forum? Shouldn't this be in the Associated Artists forum since Andy was a collaborator/ associate?

Not defensive at all, purplegirl00. Just answering the question asked: How do [I] think this? Really, for me, it comes down to deductive reasoning.

.

Specifically, my thinking is based on my scrutiny of Andy Allo's social media, which is filled with all things Prince. For example, she has several sections called "Andy Prints," which contains the many photographs of her (around the world) taken by Prince. And, as someone pointed out to me, it sounds like Andy-Prince.

.

Lastly, I think Andy's big megawatt smile in that Instagram post was put there by Prince, and only Prince, because she never posted about any other men, (except the one time Lamorne Morris, from New Girl, escorted her to the Golden Globes in 2015, and she joked that they were "lost"). Her very next post, after the one from April 19, posted above, was her tribute to her beloved P, posted April 24, three days after his shocking transition, which included a photo of the two of them, with her wearing his ring on her engagement/wedding ring finger. I have included that post below for any who have not seen it previously.

I've read that same thing about her photo on display at Paisley Park, Mkilpatrick74. Some reports say that it is in the Galaxy Room, others say that it is in his office. Whatever the case, we know for a fact that he took lots of photos of her. I would love to see her personal collection, not to mention Prince's!! Maybe, she will eventually release some of her personal photos of the two of them together. I would bet my life that she probably has quite a treasure trove of personal photographic memories. BTW. I hear that this is the photo of her that cannot be missed at The Park.

  1. Andy Allo @andyallo : ) WE TRIED THE SAME THING AND THIS HAPPENED...

  2. Andy Allo @andyallo 1000 X's & O's by @Prince3EG just came on the radio and I had to put the top down and turn it up! #goodmusic

At this point, only Andy Allo could tell us the answer.

yes 206Michelle, that is the most gut-wrenching thing for me, as well. Life is just sometimes so cruel. He had everything money could buy, but the thing he wanted most was not to be: a family, meaning a successful marriage and children.

.

And, at this point, I'm not even sure Andy knows where things went wrong with her and her beloved Prince. It seems the only thing certain is that mistakes were made, on both their parts.

Mkilpatrick74, I don't really notice the puffiness here, but I do detect it in the photo that Andy posted with her tribute to him, and also at his performances at the Montreux Jazz Festival (July 2013). I'm not sure when that tribute photo (the one that looks so much like an engagement or wedding announcement photo) was taken. BTW: I have not seen any posts of it prior to AA's Prince tribute. We do know that his hair was still straightened, so it had to be pretty early on in their relationship.

.

They reportedly met during his 21-day residency at the Forum in LA, I believe, in April of 2011. Just two months later, in June 2011, Andy stepped onto the world stage with Prince and the NPG at the Montreal International Jazz Festival. The RNR Love Affair photo that she posted on her Facebook, with Prince sporting his new afro, was in September 2012.

.

At any rate, here are a few larger photos from that Versace For H & M Fashion Show, taken in November 2011.

sooooo..... about 2yrs + a record = goodbye, right? wink seems like i said that a few pages back and nobody wanted to hear it. 30yrs of behavior doesn't lie. old habits don't change.

i can imagine how betrayed she felt. at first he's totally gung-ho on her career and constantly boosting her up. featuring her in his shows etc. and after the release she probably wanted to focus on supporting the record and he started pouting or pulled back(that's what his other lovers describe) and she's blindsided. she was porbably thinking, he was all for my career and now he wants me to slow it down and hang back with him. WTF!(i'm guessing on the last part, but that's exactly the same thing he did with several others, ex-gfs and band members.)

Minimize if you must, but I'm counting two albums, two and a half, if you include her contributions on AOA...and I think they were emotionally involved until his passing, meaning about five years. He was also reportedly in the process of working on a third album, Superconductor Reloaded. But, who's counting, right?

That's a great way to describe it..."emotionally involved" and appears to fit the situation perfectly.

FFF

I would not be surprised if Andy was still in the picture at least emotionally if not more ....If so , it's possible that's what Judith was talking about when she said they had a very intense relationship....

nod Exactly, NotACleverName. You can tell that she carefully chose every word as she crafted this epic open letter to her beloved Prince. It and their story bring tears to my eyes, too. You can tell from the picture that they were both extremely happy. I mean, I think I've only seen that little crinkle beside Prince's nose in one or two other photos.

.

Even Justine Walpole, Prince's personal photographer for the last few years of his life, and who took the above photo, noted their happiness that day. This is the comment she left on Andy's Instagram tribute post: "I always loved this photo Andy. It made me smile because your happiness was so true and now, it makes me cry too. Thinking of you."

.

If my response to your question seems "dismissive," amimissinsumthin, it's because it is "dismissive." My "dismissive" answer reflects your "dismissive" question. There are 43 pages (and counting) of photographic, journalistic, and social media documentation here. If you have not done so, I invite you to go back and read up. In the event that you have already read the thread, and you are still not convinced that Prince and Andy Allo were in love, then we will just have to agree to disagree, agreeably, please.

.

With regard to your comments that I have highlighted above, let me just ask that you demonstrably point out any "falsities" that I have posted here. That's number one. Secondly, what is "revisionist" or "hagiographic" about this thread? (There are a couple big words!)

.

Lastly, this thread is dedicated to both Andy AND Prince and their collaborations over the last five years of his life. That's what you're apparently missing, amimissinsumthin. So, to answer your question housed in your oh-so-clever moniker, yes. you. are. missing something. Absolutely and fundamentally.

.

Indeed, your responses are indicative, IMHO, of one who can't see the forest for the trees on this thread. Yes, AA was P's "associate," but she was so much more in that, arguably, she fueled much of his creative output in his final albums, Art Official Age and Hit N Run Phase 2, both considered by many to be his final masterpieces. What part of that don't you and other naysayers understand?

.

At any rate, you're entitled to your opinion, as am I. The thing is, the opinions/theories that I have presented here are grounded in hours of extensive (and ongoing) research. And, I have only begun to scratch the surface. Stay tuned. wave
