FlyOnTheWall

" People Pleaser " is the second track on Andy Allo's second album Superconductor (her first on NPG Records), and People Pleaser was released as a digital single two weeks before the album's release.

.

A studio version of the track was recorded on 21 November, 2011, at Paisley Park Studios, Chanhassen, MN, USA, with additional recording and horn overdubs by Maceo Parker and Trombone Shorty the following day; it is not known if an earlier studio version (with or without Prince input) was recorded earlier, however.

.

A 1:09 sample of the track was premiered on Drfunkenberry.com over six months before the album's planned release. More than a year before the album's planned release, it was played by Prince (with lead vocals by Andy Allo) live on 27 June, 2011, Le Grand Journal, Studios Rive Gauche, Paris, France, broadcast live on TV and online (it was first played live at a Prince concert three days earlier, 24 June, 2011, Métropolis, Montreal, QC, Canada).

.

The song was written by Andy Allo. When asked by the Irish newspaper The Independent if there is any song he wished he had written, Prince replied by saying "People Pleaser", confirming that he did not write it..." Read More...

Bassist and vocalist extraordinaire, Prince mentee and former NPG member, Nik West does a funky cover of Andy Allo's "People Pleaser."

That Prince was sexy AF, biting his lip and carrying on...and his hair was ON FLEEK. AA couldn't resist checking him on the big screen. Who could blame her????

Andy's Music Monday was very nice, but different from past weeks. Instead of singing and playing the guitar, she sang along with two instrumental tracks she recently found: "The Calm," co-written with Prince and released on her Superconductor album and her acoustic cover of Brian Ferry's "More Than This," which is included on her and P's Oui Can Luv album. She didn't say who was playing acoustics, but I think it was Prince. Her ethereal voice was in top form.

.

Between songs, she was interrupted briefly by her neighbor's crying baby. She quickly closed the balcony door and assured us that it wasn't her baby. It was funny, but for some reason, it made me feel sentimental. It felt, to me, like a soul-crushing reminder of what might have been...

Let me preface my comments by saying that we realize that she is so much more than her hair. Having said that, I also think darker hair color suits her more. When she had all the dark roots, recently, I was hopeful that she was done bleaching her hair, but no such luck. Let's hope she'll go darker before the "grief subsides," as that could take a very long time. I mean, just look at how difficult this is for some of us who never even met the Purple Yoda. I can only imagine the pain of being in love with him at the time of his passing. Perhaps she will have darkened her hair by the time her new album drops... and before she plays the Dakota Jazz Club in Minneapolis on April 22. Lastly, I would be remiss if I did not add that she is still drop-dead gorgeous.

"If I Was a King," sung from a man's perspective, is the seventh track from Andy Allo's Superconductor album. Prince Vault reports that AA "stated in concert that she wrote this song for 'someone,' but that that person didn't want to use it themselves, so she kept it. It is likely she wrote the song for Prince, but this is unconfirmed." Read More...

About the big picture of Andy with the purple rose above.

Something looks off with the hands, almost like they're too big, and don't fit right with the angle of her elbows.

Either these are the hands of a man or it's my pc screen playing tricks on me lol

Wow. Now that you mention it, paradise000, the hands do look a bit off. I even scrolled up the page a bit, to the picture of her in that beautiful white gown that accompanies her lyrics to "People Pleaser," and her hands look much more dainty there. That photo, however, is not nearly so close-up. So, maybe it's just a matter of the picture of her hands holding the roses being such a tight shot. Unless someone has another explanation, that's all I've got. Unless...could they be...wait for it...Prince's hands??!!?? tease giggle

Hi Fly,

Exactly, her hands in the white gown picture look much slender and feminine.

Well, who know's yeah....we will never know for sure unless we hear from Andy herself.

I dunno, they do sort of look like Prince's hands. confused

.

If you look at the length of her arm, it would be difficult for her hands to be at that angle. Maybe that is Prince's hand on top of hers?

.

The more I look at it, I'd have to say it's Prince's hands! lol

This Just appeared in my Face book Feed....

Can you start us off with some backstory into how you became interested in music in the first place?

Well, as an African child, often you would listen to various animals making sounds and you would learn from that.

It’s singing, you know, like if you hear a lion roar or a zebra.

It’s the way that they make sounds and communicate.

It’s almost like music, so I think I learned a lot about how to sing from that.

[Silence]

I’m kidding! [laughs].

Really cute and funny she is....

As I stated earlier on, there is nothing wrong with May-December relationships. There are several very happy ones in my family. Prince, himself, was the product of such a union. Judgments such as yours, cloveringold85, might have caused Prince to deny himself a relationship that, from all indications, made him blissfully happy.

I highly doubt that Prince cared about what other people thought of his relationships. He certainly would not care what us Orgers think!

.

You have to admit though, 30-years is a huge gap. That is 3 generations.

.

I don't know if Prince ever truly found happiness with any of his relationships. I don't see that as being judgmental, I see it as being my own observation, that's all.

Without a doubt, 30 years is a big gap, but it is not unheard of; nonetheless, he and Andy shared much in common, like their love for singing, making music and songwriting. Not to mention travel. Plus, there is the fact that Prince was still a very handsome, vibrant man. And, based on Andy's poetry, P still had that good good, if you get my drift. whip

Catherine Zeta Jones and Michael Douglas 20+ years age gap.....Annette Bening and Warren Beatty 20+ years age gap.

Examples of successful, long-term "May-December" romances here: http://www.grandparents.c...r-romances

Additionally, Prince was very young looking and I believe he had a young "spirit". I can totally envision Andy and Prince as a long-term couple!
