I am not sure that get your point.

Could you please spell it out for me.

.

Lorna sued (and lost) her brother Prince over the lyrics to U Got the Look. She claimed she wrote it. It seems she would've tried to sue Prince for defamation if the lyrics to Sister are false. Hence, there is probably some element of truth to the deeply metaphorical lyrics. I believe the song is more about loneliness, fear, and coming of age anxieties.

.

That is what I thought you were getting at but I wasn't sure.

First of all, if there is any truth to the story put forth in the song "Sister" the last thing that Lorna should do is sue Prince for libel because she would lose the case and create a huge tabloid scandal that she could never live down.

Her best course of action if she wanted it to go away was to not ever bring it up and when other people brought it up to her she should just shrug her shoulders and say, that she doesn't know why he wrote that song or who it is about but that it is just complete fiction.

You all seem to be in her camp on this one.

I'm not though, I believe Prince.

That song is also believed to be true. A virgin who was engaged gave him oral sex. Not literally on her way to be Wed that day, but on her way to be Wed soon. And could someone please post that photo from the photo thread of Prince and Lorna. I know Acharmed1 had posted on #4 but I can't get it up here

I don't know if I believe it is literal or not. To be honest, I've not listened to that song or Papa because of my own history. If you want to read my story, it's in my signature. I have no anger. I shared the symptoms many adult male survivors experience. For myself, I hope it is not a true account because I would not wish it on anyone - especially would not wish it to make myself feel better about my experiences. And if you think that believing Prince went through something similar helps survivors to cope with their own experiences, it's obvious you've not experienced that trauma and do not understand survivors.

Oh. I was in the process of typing my other question to you before seeing your post.

You're absolutly right. I do not understand.

But I sincerely and genuinely would like to understand. I'm probably not alone in my ignorance and curiosity.

Wow! The little bit that I read on your blog — ["Age 12 – the beginning"] — was pretty heavy. I gotta tell ya!

I found it challenging to read. Not because of how it's written. I was pleasantly impressed with your writing talent. It was challenging to read for me because your story is heart-wrenching. I want to kick your cousin D's ass!

I was surprised to learn you are not dude! Your earlier post about male incest victims made me think you were a guy.

Also, I couldn't figure out how to read your amazon book online in my internet browser without a Kindle. So I read only your blog.

Yep.

Your logic is flawless.

If someone writes a fictious story

Then every other story from that writer is also fiction.

Thank you, for the compliment on my writing style. I forgave D many years ago. Can't go through life hating everyone that hurts you, that's an awful lot of hate to carry around. And what you read was only the beginning of age 12 and eventually saving myself. If you want to know the whole story, you have to go to the very beginning, ages 4 and 5, January 2014, read from the bottom of the page upwards (it's how it archives the posts). As far as "heart-wrenching", I guess I've never viewed it that way. It was just life, what life had always been. I didn't know anything different until I was older and on my own. We all have our burdens, our traumas, our experiences that help to shape the way in which we view the world and those experiences. But thank you for taking the time to read the post you did.

I had posted the information about male incest victims because this thread is about Prince and his song "Sister". Since there was speculation about whether Prince had been a victim, it only makes sense to post about the effects upon men.

In order to read it online, you have to purchase it, then can read it through the amazon cloud online. But no worries, the blog gives you a general idea.

That you are using logic, but you aren't using it correctly.

I like being called Queenie wink

Sorry if I came off snotty.

But you are wrong about the song "Sister".

It can be semi-autobiographical no matter how many other songs Prince wrote that are fictional.

There you go.. "it can be"... That's not the same as "it is". We'll never know how much of this song is autobiographical and I don't really care. That's what all writers do: they mix up their own experiences with their fantasies. To me, the whole Dirty Mind album is one big sexual fantasy. That's the way I see it. All I'm saying is: don't read too much into it.

Here I go...

It can be autobiographical, and I believe it is.

You are the one who said (and I paraphrase here) 'If someone believes that the song "Sister" is auto-biographical that then that person also has to believe that the song "Head" is auto-biographical.'

Sorry, but that just doesn't add up.

There is obviously more to this story than Prince could cram into a song that is only 1 minute and 32 seconds long.

He probably left out the boring stuff and emphasized the salacious stuff for the shock value, but I don't think he just made the whole thing up.

Of course there is no way to prove anything one way or the other, short of finding a videotape in the vault of Prince tied to a chair and while Lorna stands over him holding a whip.

And it certainly doesn't matter now since both parties allegedly involved are dead.

I just have my own opinion based on connecting the dots.

I would like to bring others around to my point of view.

But the real reason I am here writing about this is just to entertain myself.

I gotta ask. Has anybody here ever been incested? [if that's a word]

Does believing so deeply that Sister is a literal, non-fictional account of incest, somehow help you to vicariously exercise whatever traumatic feelings you might have about your own incest experience?

Thank you! I had actually forgotten that post was on there. A few months before April, I had started another blog, OneVoice4Peace, that was focusing on Prince, lyrics, societal issues, love for one another, and had forgotten I had written about Prince on SilentThriver. Wow. It was nice reading that one again.

Wait, I thought his dad really was half Italian? Prince got all that hair from somewhere. I thought in recent years he said his mom was mixed with a bunch of races too.

eek I have a lot of hair. Way more than Prince. My whole family does. I'm not mixed in anyway. Jamaican born and bred. You don't have to be mixed to have a lot of hair...

And so what if Prince's great great great grandfather's mother is Italian? Isn't everyone's? falloff

Luvgirl, you said your family has s lot of body hair and you are 100% Jamaican. Jamaicans are not native to the island. They where from Africa and the were enslaved to the Spanish. The Spanish are so hairy with the thickest brows ! Jamaicans are a mix of African and Spainerd . I have often noticed the thick brows Jamaicans .

I'm serious Luvgirl, look up right now if Jamaicans are a mixed race. You are a mix of people from Africa and Spain. Native to Jamaica were Indians that got pretty much wiped out but still intermixed when the Spanish and Africans arrived. There should be a small trace of Indian DNA in you also
