I love that album in spite of some of its flaws. I agree with whomever stated that there should be less synth's in Gold. What a perfect song that would be without them. But the melody and lyrics are on point and I enjoy its guitar solo.

319 is probably my favorite...even though I wish the camera sounds and out-dated references to chicks kissing on the dance floor were subtracted.

NOw is a guilty pleasure. Its hilarious. I noticed that when prince semi-raps, he seems to be mocking or parodying different rappers styles. This song is prince at his hammiest (in the best sense)

Shy and Dolphin are both weird and wonderful. endorphinemachine reminds me of alternative rock and for that reason I love it. .

Shhh is great (what a sexy song)

But the song that surprised me the most when I heard it in its entirety was I Hate U. The song is one edgy piece of work. Its even harbors violent fantasies and as a woman I should probably be offended, but instead it seemed like a honest expression of some men's crazy obsession over their women. I don't take it anymore literally than the Police's Every breath you take.

Real hard guys - all of the songs on that album deserve inclusion. It changes day to day, could be Gold, Dolphin, I hate U and Shh!, but I will say Endorphinmachine, the scream, the story, the powerhouse guitars and just everything. So much power in that song.

I really think though that if Days of Wild had made the cut, that would be my number one and probably many of yours to. The only song that dosen't fit is we March and possibly shy. The rest is Gold - Billy Jack Bitch is great too - I mean just wow.

It's just one classic jam after another and you could tell he was having fun making it. The hodgepodge of styles helps too, sexy ballads, frenetic rock, sex, protest songs, rap and funk - this is the 1990s Sign o the Times.

I was the one who wrote that.

There are some rawer versions of some of the songs, they are circulating (I´m not sure if I have them somewhere in some folder). But I think the rawer sounding versions still have that synth.

I understand you having mixed feelings about I Hate U. I think even Prince felt conflicted about those lyrics because when you take a closer look at the maxi single you´ll see that it says "Hate versus love? No contest. Love will ALWAYS win. Love life, Lovesexy !"

By the way, I like the song I Hate U a lot, even the album version, but I think the extended remix with that heavy bass and the funny adlibs is so much better than the album version.

A huge improvement over the original version.

A lot of people seem to love it, but this album never really clicked for me. I guess I'd go with "P Control," followed in no particular order by "I Hate U," "Shy," and "Dolphin."

and 319!! both stunning in their own rights...endorphine is a classic rocker with amazing guitar and primal scremas and 319 is funky and sexy and nasty...can't imagine anyone able to pull both these off on the same record!!!

This album has become one of my top favorites over the years. This is a toughie. I can't choose between TMBGITW and I Hate U. So yea, both lol

TGE has a lot of excellent songs like TMBGITW, Gold, Dolphin, Shhh and I Hate U.

So it´s in my Top5 of P´s all time fav albums and one of his best eras in my opinion.

My fav song is TMBGITW.

Although it´s the most "popular" one, it is what it is, a great hit.
