I think it's cool. Prince was a sex symbol, absolutely. The way he dressed, behaved etc. Men can be sex symbols, why not? And He was the best example

As a gay man, I was never attracted to Prince but there were moments when his androgyn glamour came close to being irresistable. Specifically, when he makes ecstatic faces and smiles in the 1999 video -- and other videos from the 1999 era, that was just the right mix of cockyness and sextasy.

But by the Raspberry Beret video, he sometimes reminded me of Liza Minelli in drag (and no, normal gay guys don't want to sleep with Liza).

Prince is naturally beautiful, imo. So yes, I'd look at him even if he was a usher.

I'm happy he became a sex symbol. As others have chimed in, he defied the stereotype, and was completely, COMPLETELY comfortable in his own skin throughout so many different looks and styles. It helped me to gain confidence in my own skin.

He is very, very visually striking. There is an aura about him that is quite special, which is part of why he's so iconic, I think. If he looked like a regular Joe Schmo, musical wizardry and all, I don't know if he would have had the same impact.

Feel free to join in the Prince Album Poll 2018! Let'a celebrate his legacy by counting down the most beloved Prince albums, as decided by you!

NO, as a straight male I can see Prince was a sexy mofo and all the ladies wanted to be in his bed.

when i first saw him perform, i had the typical teenage black straight male reaction: "WTF?....who is this sissy???"...i only became a fan because anytime i would go to visit girlfriends who would play his music and have his pictures and lp covers on the wall...you trying to kiss and cop a feel, and you look up and the "For You" or "Prince" cover is staring back at you from the wall, and at the same time im accidentally getting hooked on the music im hearing (Sexy Dancer, Its Gonna Be Lonely, My Love Is Forever, Crazy You)...his so called sex appeal never occurred to me back then...i just always figure women were attracted to effeminate men...i cant lie though...lil homie was cute in Grafitti Bridge...his hair and shadow beard and the black & white checkerboard poncho, in the Elephants & Flowers scene had me confused for a quick minute...smh...dude was the epitome of a transcendant superstar...no other man can cause that type of reaction ...

hiphop legend Cam'ron uses his signature catchphrase "NO HOMO", anytime he says or does something that can be misconstrued as sounding or looking "gay"...invoking the spirit of Cam'ron, to sum this whole thread up:

That's an interesting point. What if Cindy Crawford were working at Burger King. Of course she would be sexy. Even vegetarian guys would be going in that place every hour to order Quarter Pounder Cheeseburgers. Carwford's sexiness is in her looks. That wouldn't change if she were working at a Burger King

.

On the other hand, Prince an usher in a movie theater? No, he wouldn't be sexy. His sex appeal was his fame, his cash, his dancing, his songwriting talent. Now unless that usher is dancing down the aisles singing one of his songs while flashing a lot of cash, then he would not be sexy.

.

Don't want to spoil your theory part 2:

.

Cindy Crawford without the fame working in Burger King is still sexy and hot. Denzel without the fame working as an usher in a movie theater is still sexy. Prince without the fame working as an usher is just some short little guy with bad facial hair. Folks, the guy was not good looking. His sex appeal lies in his talent, fame, and cash....no way in his looks. He wasn't good looking. If the guy up the road looked like Prince you'd think that guy was creepy.

I can say that for all of the years I've been a fan, I never once thought of Prince's cash. And as far as fame goes? Pffft, this whole time I thought he was mine. Only when he died did I realize I had been sharing him with others razz.

Nah, Prince had wimmens way before he had money and fame. He had them in Miss Anderson's basement and he had them when his daddy put him out the house, so there goes your theory. lol

And I pointed out that I had women without fame and money. You don't need to be a sex symbol to get women. (You just need a good line of bull or some good coke.)

.

This thread is not about Prince getting with the ladies. Many guys can do that. This thread is about Prince as sex symbol. I say he reached that status because of his fame and cash. If Denzel worked in an office, he'd be the sex symbol of that office. If Prince worked in that same office? "Keep that little runt with the bad facial hair away from me," would be said by every woman working in that office.

Interesting. I am a woman and have been a fan of Prince since my pre-teens and loving his music and being attracted to him were truly intertwined. I can't imagine one without the other. I find him beautiful and very sexy...and then seeing him perform made him even more attractive. He even has really nice hands, if you have ever noticed.

Listening to his music in my teens affected my thoughts about love, sex, and just about everything. (All positive, by the way.)

Prince is "my type" in the looks department, except for his height. I usually like tall guys but he was the exception. And, me being slightly shorter than Prince made it all ok. smile

My husband and I would joke that Prince was my "free pass" if I ever had the chance. I'm sure I'm not alone.

I'm also happy my husband is a Prince fan, too, since we've enjoyed so much of his music together. He truly admires Prince's talent and showmanship, although he doesn't find him attractive.

This is a strange one to answer without sounding stupid. As a heterosexual man, I thought Prince was truly beautiful and probably the only man I would ever think that of. I used joke with my wife, and say I'd leave her for him. That sounds stupid, but prince's appeal was that everyone male or female recognised his beauty and sexiness. He played up on it too. He made it ok for us to be sensitive, be strong without being butch. I found a lot of inspiration from they way he was. Strangely I have always felt madly attracted to girls, yet I can't do the macho lad chat stuff. . I always felt more comfortable with girls company, and again prince kind of made that more normal. He was unique. Let's face which male fan didn't dream of dressing and grooming like Prince? We know we would look stupid, we wanted to be him. How the hell did he pull it off. He did probably cos he was a SEXY MF... prince

Thank you for being so honest! You made me laugh when you said you tease your wife about leaving her for him. Bold statement! biggrin If I were a guy, I couldn't imagine why anyone would NOT want to dress and groom like him - the suits - OHGawd, dressed to the 9's( or 7's as Prince would probably say) and his grooming was impeccable - nails, hair, face all to perfection. but you're probably right - no one could pull it off like Prince. Remember there is no stupidity in honesty. Peace.

I have to disagree - Prince was VERY good looking - he got hit with the beautiful stick a LONG time ago. And you forget about the mysterious charm he had. Just watch him carefully in his movies, in the New Girl episode - he had a way of saying things, a way of moving and a way of LOOKING at the person he was speaking to. Imagine " Can I get you a burger , girl?' in his voice, flashing those eyes. C'mon. He was a charmer. " Girl, I'll put you in the best seat in the house. Go on girl, you sit right down there and enjoy the show." It was never about fame or fortune, IMHO.

I adopted the whole economy of movement thing off Prince, like you're dancing while you're either walking or fixing a cup of tea. There is always the danger you get shouted at by a passing car from East London: "SLAG!!!", but I'd be pissed off if oligarchs had bought up your entire town too.

Anyway, male sex symbols? They don't do much for me personally
