On my way home at 6:30 am and I crossed a bridge and the sun was trying to come up and it was reflecting off the water and just as I crossed the bridge a flock of birds flew by wink I believe his spirit is resting and that makes me happy. I feel calmer today, but every time I think about him being alone I tear up. I was talking to one of my young nurses aides last night about Prince and showed her some of his videos and she was amazed and said he was gorgeous wink Im hopeful that his music and his spirit will live on and inspire others to pursue dreams.

It's still just sinking in. Like everyone else, I just don't want it to be true.

Like many on this thread I haven't been very active on here for quite a while, it's good to see so many names from the past. In a way it's comforting to see names from years ago and be reminded of the silly, fun things we used to get up to, back when this site was part of my daily routine.

There's not much I can say that hasn't already been said, and said far more eloquently than I would manage.

One thing I would say is that for those of you who find they can't listen to any Prince at the moment, I know exactly how you feel and that's exactly how I was feeling. But it couldn't be avoided when, yesterday evening, my 2 young daughters wanted to dance:

D1: "Daddy, can we dance?"

D2: "Dance, dance, dance!"

Me: "Of course, what music do you want?"

D1 & D2 (in unison) "Prince!"

I should add that I have not tried to turn my daughters into Prince fans; I play a lot of different music for them as I want them to have exposure to as wide and varied a taste in music as possible, but despite this they are little Prince fans - a testament to the quality of his music.

So, there was no avoiding it. I actually found it cathartic, and as usual it raised a smile, seeing the 2 of them bopping around; yesterday's selections were La, la, la, he, he, hee and I Wish U Heaven Parts 1, 2 & 3.

When I Wish U Heaven came on it was difficult trying not to cry in front of them - they're probably a bit too young to understand properly and I know seeing me cry would've upset them, so I held the tears back until later, when I listened to Sometimes It Snows In April and Purple Rain, which had me in floods. I am genuinely surprised at just how tearful and upset I am.

So I guess the point I'm making is if you feel you can't listen to Prince now because it'll make you start crying again, is that such a bad thing? The tears will come anyway, let them out.

So long Skipper, I'm going to miss you. Thanks for all the music.

Is it possible to keep it so it doesn't lock itself? Just to have a thread to go to and remember when we all came together to show love for Prince.

I've not posted much here for over 10 years. I've read every post in this thread and seen some names I haven't seen for a long while. When I heard that Prince was dead I immediately thought of my old friends here. I miss you dearly. I just hope you are all coping alright with this tragedy. It's tough times for us all. How are we going to fill this empty room?

Got the same sentiments; how are ya, buddy? Nice to see the oldtimers and familiar avatars again.

Holy shit! Alf! bkw! So happy to see you guys! I hope you're hanging in there.

When I dropped my daughter off at daycare yesterday, one of the teachers who loves Prince came running up and gave me a hug because she knew I was also a fan. I hate hugs, but you better believe I hugged her back twice as hard. We bonded. Prince could do that to people.

60 hours ago we all knew who the greatest living musical figure was... not today.

I found my tambourine this morning... and i though now we are all alone left to play or tambourine... of course that kind of chances the meaning of the song...

It's bright and sunny with a perfectfly blue sky this morning in Michigan. I hear mourning doves cooing outside my window. But I feel flat. Dull. Everybody talks about celebrating his life, but I can't find any reason to celebrate. I don't want to hear his music. It hurts too much.

.

As a Prince fan since 1982, he has been a part of my everyday life. Every day. Workout listening to his music. "Special" time with my husband, Prince music was on in the background. Morning ritual: Coffee, read Bible, pray, check email, check the Org. Every day.

.

I know this is grief talking, but I feel like nothing will ever be the same. And it bothers me when people see that I'm upset about this and say things like, "You didn't even know him! Why are you crying over this???"

.

One more thing...my sweet sister sent me a beautiful flower arrangement with purple roses, carnations and white lillies in a purple vase. The lillies remind me of LoveSexy. Beautiful.

So. I think the first thing I remember was the SOTT video, those strange letters going across the screen. As a 6 or 7 or 8 years old German boy of course I had no idea about their meaning. But I remember them fascinating me. The Batdance video, too. But my real exposure to Prince came sometime around 1997, when I saw Gold on TV. And that was it. The song totally appealed to me back then and drew me in. The first album was TGE, then I guess it must have been Purple Rain. I surely didn't understand all of the music at first but boy, did open up a door. I remember selling some stuff so I could get the Crystal Ball set. I remember looking for pictures of Prince online and printing them out. The first bootlegs (yeah, sorry, P). Becoming a member of the org in 1999, I guess. When it was still black and purple. I remember signing up for the NPGMC and getting the fan club tickets for my first concert in Hamburg in 2002, so excited. I went with a friend, I invited and paid the tickets for another two friends (even though they were really expensive for me...), because they just had to go, too. Another concert in 2002 in Berlin. Covering When U Were Mine with school friends. Being so lucky that I got to see a great aftershow in London in 2007. I remember being frustrated with some of the music and some of his worldviews. I remember so many discussions with people why I like that strange guy. I know that standing up for that has made me more open, respectful and tolerant towards all kinds of people. I remember being away on a team event on Thursday evening and checking my phone during a break and the lump in my throat.

.

But most of all I remember the partys with my best friend when we would put on How Come U Don't Call Me Anymore, singing it from the top of our lungs and the funny look on people's faces.

.

I don't just remember that, I'm looking forward to the next time doing that. Louder than before.

.

Oh boy.

Hey loudmouth, shut the fuck up, right?

What a reason for a homecoming. It has been a few years since I have posted on the ORG. I have always thought that Prince would be one of the few superstars that we wouldn't have to worry about reaching old age. But, life has proved once again to be guaranteed to no one. Take care to everyone here because I know this loss cuts deeper for the org family.

Hi - almost never post on the site, but I am checking it everyday since many many years now to learn amazing info on his music etc and see when was(!) his next shows (I still can't believe there will be no more). I read all the posts here as I am just heartbroken like all of you. Feels good that I am not alone with this nightmare. I just wanted to share what I posted on my facebook page - since I did it I feel a bit better, until now I was crying in disbelief, I barely slept and ate since Thursday. I dearly loved him and will always do. The below is just to express my feelings and gratitude towards him and his music, to everything he gave us. Much Love to all of you, we all need a big hug!

Dear beloved Prince,

I discovered you through Michael (fan since 87, at age 6), by wondering: who is this guy, everybody says they are rivals? It was in 1993. So I bought The Hits/B-Sides. I put a dot next to my favorite songs and told myself, whaooo, his music is complicated! I only became a fan in 96... Thanks to you, I am now able to listening to so many different styles, you teach me to appreciate Music; you teach me that being different is ok, you are so different from the rest of the pack, but you never cared, that was your most beautiful strength.

Listening to your very last show - feels good even if it madly hurts - you are amazing on piano, and your voice, sheer perfection. I will miss you so dearly, no more shows, no more excitement (should have gone to more, only if I knew!).

I do hope your legacy and the music in the Vault will be treated with respect (not like they do with Michael's).

I wish you were there with us still, I Wish U Heaven now and Eternity in the Music History. Hoping that people will discover that you are more than just the hits - you are so much more! You are Everything - I cannot pick one favorite song, there is one for each mood.

I will never forget your smile on stage in Zurich, you were so happy to be there, sharing your music, feeling the Love we had for you - oh yes, we love you! (bringing two very good friends, was the 1st time they saw you - at the end, they instantly told me: tell us when he is back, we come again. Yes, you were THAT amazing!).

Thank you so much Purple God - God called you back too early, losing one of His best channel to teach us that God is Love and Love is God.

Love you always - I Would Die 4 U
