I feel that Prince's acheivement of a better deal could potentially serve as a template in future dealings with more artists.

>

He didn't get a better deal and neither did we: PR 30 didn't come out.

WB released a press release explicitly mentioning additional content
and no: I haven't read the contract, but I do not believe they would broadcast

untruths.

It's my impression that the notion of "goodies" (alt. takes, live recordings & such) added to a PR remaster was speculation from people on the outside toward what kind of deal WB had in mind for Prince. Unless WB reveals or someone can discover what they'd proposed to Prince, I can only imagine that the issue of remastered content (along with the release of Plec. Elec. & AOA) was an open subject and Prince sent them what he wanted them to have.

.

If the Prince man offered a bare remastered disc (as we read here) then WB would see an item that is hard to sell.

One needs goodies to filll the disc or perhaps even a second disc.

If fans can dream up five or six disc, then why can't the Prince man deliver?

Is he stupid?

Can't he understand that if he doesn't release it now it will never be released?

Does he deem those things unreleasable? (which items and why?)

The delivery was not OK for WB.

The money can be worked out. The fact they didn't means that the offering was subpar in their opinion.

The Prince man should do a piano verison of 'it is all about the money dum dumdumwhatever' and explain the Youtube stance in detail so it makes sense.

The man should ban all youtube if that improves his profile somehow.

The man should negociate a fair deal if that improves his profile somehow.

So please, please explain.

Why? Because we all want Prince. We all love Prince and we all hate Prince (I Hate U--The Gold Experience)!

He's a phenomenon of the post-Beatles generation.

Stupid move from the pusblisher as well.

I work in web technologies, I know the business.

Google is moving Youtube towards a premium streaming paid service.
The primary target is content with 1080p as a standard and hi-fi sound quality.

One will be in a better position to negotiate when one's videos already score millions of views,
no matter since how long, when the day comes for Youtube to switch.

I think the best is to publish not as much as you can,
but the right content that makes you want to know the artist's repertoire better.

Then you hook your target with targeted ads at the end of the video.
In no time your Youtube channel gets followers, and then it's viral.

Intertwine this with online contests to win a pair of free concert tickets from time to time, and at least you have some decent online presence, not just tweets (and rants).

The Colors R brighter, the Bond is much tighter
No Child's a failure
Until the Blue Sailboat sails him away from his dreams

Debate with name calling always says more about the person calling the names than the one they're putting down. lol

-

I have no interest in his business dealings. Why would I? Who is he to me? I don't know him from a bar of soap. I did want to know why some of his stuff and other artists' was there and some not and that has been substantially indicated in this thread and others. It seems your interests are greater and more needy because you need to get everything that exists.

-

I live in the moment so prefer the snippets of the last concerts a week ago than a 1999 concert from 1983 and will wait until the one who created whatever it is they have to give distributes with their consent. Seems fairer to me. I like fair.

True dat, actually. The WB statement *could* have been a gamble to up the ante for the P-man to deliver the goods after such public exposure. If this is the accurate scenario, it sure didn't work as the P-man stuck to his guns. johnwoo Ammo for a better deal? Come on, WB can deal better that that!

EXACTLY!

-

Honestly never put anything past these Corporates, it's all about the money for them and that's it. Crazy claim maybe, but I think they are the War of the Worlds Machines HG Wells wrote about. Currently sucking artists dry, countries and continents due to their uncontrolled desire to rule the world. Just think of TTIP (Not sure if that's what it is in English) Where Corporates can sue countries. Like Philip Morris suing Australian for their huge anti-smoking campaign on ciggerette packets. Ethics do not come into it. Hungry money grabbing shareholders who draw up policies.

-

We need people who have the power to stand up to them. They won't be popular and they will be ridiculed and given a bad name but nothing in history came without sacrifice.

-

Good for him for sticking to his guns. And he's still out there making music, making people happy and enjoying himself. While the Warner employees i.e. network (I'm sure of it) come here to stir the cauldron.

-

They can but not without the yoda taking action evillol

And the revolution will not be televised lol

Well we know that Prince is a quiet charitable donor, so some part of his surplus income goes toward community projects. Money can be the root of evil, but it is also a good tool to have if weilded with care. He believes in doing work and in self-determination, so I can respect his pursuit of money! You can't record music without paying the engineers and the manufacturers that capture and spread the magic. So if he weren't making money, his offerings to all of us would diminish. The people who say otherwise, "too much money for Prince is bad," are the jealous type.

Except that ain't what I said. I said Prince sounds like the gatekeepers he's always criticizing if he thinks people should pay each and every time they look at him. lol

He still didn't explain nuthin either. The only people whining about his absence from YT is mugs on the org so I guess that's who he's talking to.
