It's extremely funny how D'Angelo and Van Hunt drop two of the best albums of the last five years....and Prince, one of their heroes, is like....."Th, Th, Th, This could be Us (Us, Us, Us, Us, Us)........I'm actually in disbelief

YES. Those are my two favorite recent albums. Each one makes Prince sound like a chump.

I'm actually so excited for the new album. I still bump to AOA all the time. Prince sounds fresh and inspired. It's a new age, new sound, and I love it. I've had multiple friends of mine come up to me and tell me they loved AOA. It's not the Prince of 1987 releasing albums, it's the Prince of 2015. For the first time in a while I fee like I can turn on a NEW Prince song for people and not feel weird about it. People spend their time bitching because Prince won't give them the album they feel they deserve. It is crazy to me that this amount of people sit at their computer typing away at how not excited they are about A NEW PRINCE ALBUM....

I agree with you that that element you speak of is corny. But it's mostly at the beginning and I could live with it. Otherwise I think it's a great track. It sounds far far better than the original. The first sounded like it was put together by a talentless hack, this one has a couple of issues but the overall package mitigates them.

BELIEVE me....i DO NOT want Prince to repeat anything. Infact, i want Prince to deliver new and innovative ideas that challenge me, like he used to do with every album release! This is coming from a new-ish fan too. I only got on board back in 2007 and i am 28.

This shit he's doing now is not new nor challenging (and not experimental or weird like Hannah said for that matter), it is teeny poppy trends being replicated by a middle aged man singing about the party he thinks he was at. This is a terrible and LATE attempt at Dubstep and other "in" sounds.

It would be grand if he went into more electronica sounds with actual inspiration from the correct artists. He could do a real experimental/weird industrial album with a mature approach to sound unlike anything else out there if he was listening to people like Tom Waits, Jamie Lidell or something similar.....but instead.....it's this nonsense.

A 57 year old hanging at the club is creepy.....and he's singing about it with the most immature sound yet. It screams insecurity and a man not at grips with his age.

Prince should be at a stage now where he is wise and has much to share with us whilst presenting a new mature sound....something that looked like it was going to happen with the TRC/ONA/NEWS era.

I think there will be a slight glimpse of this on the album, but i think it is mostly going to be an embarrassment.

I'm massively excited for the new album... and I loved AOA!

It's awesome that I can show modern Prince music to friends who only like modern "music" and know they'll love it.

I like how he always sounds fresh, although I do hope we get to hear some unreleased 80's/90's songs from the Vault one day...

That would be nice. 1000 Hugs and Kisses remake is supposed to be on this new one.

Someone mentioned collaborating with Jamie Lidell...WHAT a great idea that would have been. However I did like what Joshua came up with Prince on AOA, it was modern withourt having to over-do it.

Album plays and love for vinyl records.

There IS gonna be at least one "masterpiece" wink .
That's unavoidable.

The good news for Prince is that the general consumer will be far more exited by the new music vs six vocal orgers. And the same six vocal orgers here who were the only consumers liked AOA. So everybody is happy. So 6 orgers get to enjoy the cheeseball AOA. And the rest of the consumer market will enjoy Hitandrun.

That said, it looks like Hitandrun will be far far more lucrative. Plus, it's new music he can actually play at concerts. ...and not piss off concert goers. Well except for 6 of them.

Care to share the polling data with us that shows the keen interest of the general consumer? You know as well as I do that what sells well with Jow Public has fuck all do do with the quality (or lack thereof) of the content, and all to do with marketing. Also, from what we have heard so far, the chances of the material being played live are slim unless they are played during the infamous sampler set. Other than the guitar, everything else is sampled or played on a computer. Im not dissing that, Im glad he is finally dipping his toes in the technology of it all, but he aint going to play it live. The majority of Prince's live audience want to hear Kiss and Purple Rain. Sad but true. And unless HnR sells in its millions and has a huge hit single, that scenario isnt going to change.

As for only 6 orgers not feeling good about what is coming our way in a weeks time, look at the Tidal thread. There are MANY unhappy bunnies. And the enthusiasm for TCBU remix is less than stellar. This album will sell about the same, if not less, than AOA (if it is even released for sale). Prince probably knows it too. I hope I like it, but from what I have heard so far, Im not impressed. I wanted something that evolved from AOA and it looks like that is what we are getting. But the quality of the songs (so far) are not doing much for me. Im hoping he is keeping expectations down by holding back the best stuff until the album release. I suspect thats not the case though. Hence the lack of excitement.

I agree, I like AOA and wanted something in a similar vein. I like Hardrocklover but could have done without TCBU remix and we haven't heard anything else yet. Apart from possibly The X's Face, which is pretty weak (I know KingSausage will disagree cuz he loves the chimp noises) so at the moment it's 50-50 for me.
.
But After reading these short interviews from journalists who've heard it I'm expecting most songs to be like the woeful AOA FunknRoll version. They'll be 'current' sounding and full of sound effects (but not in a good way, more like Ross from Friends when he gets his high school keyboard out). The old school fans will hate it, this place will go into meltdown. Maybe Prince wants that, he's said before he doesn't like old people and surrounds himself with young pups.
