Well Mr. Sausasage, from the tracks released so far, i will say that the general audience will beg to differ. The new tracks point to a dramatic increase in quality in every sense. we as well as Tidal subscriers look to be in for a treat.

..and this coming from someone who is always hyper-critical of his newer work.

Losing interest in the upcoming album and posting on the Org aren't mutually exclusive. It's stupid to think they are.

I'm not that excited for it either, but I will most likely pick it up right away. Because with Prince, you have to buy it while you can because it might be gone the next day.

The last time I was excited was with Rave, then the actual album made me regret it. The Gold Experience and Emancipation were the two recent periods of maximum excitement. Now I just listen to a new album, say ho hum and go to sleep.

All you others say Hell Yea!! woot!

I too was so disappointed how he quickly abandoned AOA. I'm hoping this new release is as exciting as described(experimental). I hate to say I can't get into Hard Rock Lover or the remix of This Could Be Us. I really hope it's good and he promotes it with singles, videos, etc. Knowing Prince he'll just have it on Tidal for a week or two and then it'll vanish as it never happened.

Come/Gold/Emancipation were the last periods of maximum excitment for me -- and those were 20 years ago. I can't believe it's been that long.

.

Musicology and 3121 were above average excitement, but nothing like the 90s. Everything since -- even though there were high points here and there -- has been below-average excitement for me.

You clearly don't understand what self-contradictory means. Explain how posting about how unexcited one is for an upcoming album is mutually exclusive with actually being unexcited about said album. Your logic is horseshit.

I'll always get Prince's albums no matter what but I'm not sure about Joshua Welton's production.

Teaming up w/the Weltons, Prince doubled down on having a "God Squad" production team. IMO - Christian music is notorious for watered down flavor. I can't think of anything influential or widely acclaimed that's escaped that genre. The result is always an outdated pale imitation of something else (double ick). In this case it seems Welton's co-opted Prince, as a genre, and he's watering it "Down.. Down.. Down"

Exactly.

What's worse, Skipper is the best Christian rocker of all time. Such infamy.

From the gospel of "Purple Rain" and "God", "The Cross", "I Wish U heaven",
to "Dolphin", "The Holy River"...
even "I Could Never Take The Place Of Your Man" is a curious
statement, not exactly the usual rock'n'roll lyrics stereotype.

You could make a stunning compilation out of Prince's overtly Christian-related songs.

I dont know why everyone is getting their knickers in a twist with this out of the blue release

I would imagine it was something put together pretty quick and like Prince said experimental so just be grateful he is putting the stuff out.

If he said he pulled this from the Vault in 1984 and remixed it everyone woudl have been wetting themselves

I think a track list would help raise my excitement.

I'm starting to worry there could be other reworkings on the album, such as the remixes of Clouds, fix u're life up and Pretzel Body Logic.

Now I like the the new version of This could be us but don't like the idea of what could be essentially a remix album with a couple of new tracks, like Madonna's You can dance.

Bob Dylan has made some amazing music in the last ten

years.Modern times is a classic for me.

Tempest too.

that is what I'm hoping for Prince.

that he fucking wakes up like Dylan did.

My hope as well.

Except Skipper has one problem. A whole bunch of his musical palette consists in crooning
like he was the hottest thing. While this worked when he was at the top of His Sexyness,
it is kinda of annoying to have a 56 year old man singing about a woman who screams.

I sense a bit of "I used to make them scream back in the day" feel.

Skipper has to let go of his musical persona once and for all,
if he wishes to evolve.
But does he really want it?

Forget the Linn, forget the stock sounds, forget the usual way to record.
Go outin the world, fucking somewhere, I don't care.
Go back to Record Plant if it helps.
Just get out of your own court once and for all.

I'd rather eat the whole nineties fiasco again, at least it was about "slavery",
"Prince esta muerto", "testicles 1-2": there was a real will to be born again.
I never compared The Revolution and the original NPG because they were so different.
3EG is not a great band. I have no preconceived feelings about those girls,
but only Ida stands out. But Hannah is no Wendy, nor Lisa.

And her husband is no Clare Fischer.

There are a lot great artists that would have loved to play with, or produce Prince.
But after alienating the whole US showbiz in 1985 (the We Are The World incident),
he went on disappointing every european admirer with the laughable stuff
that came out of Paisley Park Records.

So instead of Dave Grohl or Me'Shell, we have Joshua.

Its a thread about the excitement level of the new album which also queries other peoples excitement levels and how they relate to past albums. Where is the contradiction? I have zero excitement for this album. Not because of the Tidal nonsense, but because the songs I've heard so far I find to be pretty dull and uninspired. I hope I'm wrong and Prince kicks my ass with an album of awesomeness, but I couldn't care less if he doesn't. I realised a long time ago that I'm an old school/bootleg prince fan and I'm fine with that. Current Prince is more a passing interest these days.

You still can't defend the logic of your ridiculous original post. You can only resort to childish retorts and nonsequiturs. Again: Explain how posting about how unexcited we are means that we are somehow actually excited. Explain it. You can't. Because it's nonsensical. Sadly, that's par for the course with you.
