Bored as hell and not excited that much. Like, Prince should remember how to make a video and promote stuff prior to releasing albums...

Release a video and promote? What about God music....prince will not have a hit record again. That's over. Focus on the music

Not just for promotion!
To get the fans hype!!!
Because everything is sooooo boring right now in the Prince-world lol

This is the least excited I've ever been for a new Prince album. Not sure why. I really like AOA. Perhaps I'm sick of Prince's antics. Perhaps I'm let down by AOA being so quickly forgotten. Perhaps it's the shit with Tidal. I don't know. Where's your excitement level for HITNRUN? What's the least excited you've ever been for a new Prince album? (Technically I think 20ten might beat HITNRUN for me...maybe. I didn't even track down a copy from eBay until 2012.)

I actually agree with you and I never got 20ten officially. I have a rip but never tracked down the official one. I am right with you on feelings towards this album. I get more excited when an old bootleg demo gets leaked.

"Rave Un2 The Joy Fantastic" was the turning point for me.

I'll always be curious, but not excited about any new Prince album. He's just been unspectacular for just too long a stretch to muster any excitement.

He has the ability to suprise ("The Rainbow Children") but not thrill, like back when "Parade" was followed by "Sign o the Times", followed by "Lovesexy"...

I used to give Prince the benefit of the doubt thru the Contractual Obligation Cd's and the 00's Albums, that he was holding back---but you know, in retrospect, those songs/albums were probably the best he could do. Which means, "AOA", "Plectrum Electrum" are the best he can do. Which isn't enough to get excited about.

I'm also not interested in any effort beyond going to HMV or Amazon and getting a new release--I don't literally have the time for the games of Tidal, getting 20Ten by ordering a British Newspaper copy, going to Target or jumping thru any other hoops for the privilege of listening songs to " Everybody Loves Me", "Mr.Goodnight", "Never B Another Like Me", "Resolution", or a remix of a song on the last CD.

Give me a break. There's too many artists and albums in the world to discover than to put in the effort it takes to hear Princes latest "just ok" effort.

On the other hand, who gets excited about the latest Springsteen, Dylan, Macartney, etc.? Maybe Madge, a little bit if only for hoping she'd do it again. There's no multi-decade act that gets me excited but I can look forward to a nice surprise here and there.

I get excited for the new Dylan and sometimes the new Springsteen. I bet many, many more people get excited for their new releases than Prince's new releases.

Bob Dylan has made some amazing music in the last ten

years.Modern times is a classic for me.

Tempest too.

that is what I'm hoping for Prince.

that he fucking wakes up like Dylan did.

I hope so too, but you know what woke Dylan up? Touring! I'm convinced that it was his decision to take his show on the road, night after night, year after year, that reinspired him. Locking yourself up in a place like Graceland/Neverland/Paisley Park isn't good for an artist.

Not very excited.I'm not even remembering what the last "real" Prince album was for me.With that i mean an album that had an artistic *concept* not only in signature sounds, but artwork as well as lyrics. In other words, an album you could take seriously.

I guess the last one in that regard must have been TRC.Not really my preferred Prince sound but at least there was a clear concept with thoughts and work behind it.

Nowadays i don't see his willingness to put in more effort than neccessary, let alone a true artistic vision.

Honestly, the last Prince album i was excited for was "Black Messiah"..

Not expecting much.

Not especially excited, no. I feel your pain kingsausage, I enjoyed AOA as well but between the lack of booklet and lack of promotion on that one it's hard to get excited about something he himself will likely have already forgetten by the time we get it.

I hope he's put a bit of effort into the new one, the worry is that its totally throwaway; old vault tracks he "updated" with a few new beats over the space of a weekend. A bit of touring outside of Paisley Park for it would be nice, that's always good for the excitement levels (for all but the most jadest of us).

I suppose the 21 nights book was the lowpoint for me, I expected it to be utter rubbish and it didn't fail to deliver.

3121 was the last album with video play ("Black Sweat") on BET and MTV... TRC never reached that status

I saw someone else say the same thing and I agree: I get the impression it's going to be a slap-dash compilation of recent tracks put out just to put something out. He's not investing in Tidal as a platform by giving them a strong effort he's going to put his best efforts behind, he just throwing them a bone. My expectations are very low for this one.

I think it's time for some people here to move on from Prince , just saying , if your tired of his so called games and so always disappointed of all his albums since 1993-2014. Why follow someone who makes you sad or does not do it for you anymore. Peace.
