5/21/1987 Aftershow Park Cafe Munich Germany

NO TROLL THREADS! NO SOLICITING FOR BOOTLEGS! Discussion is fine, so long as the bootleg is not being promoted e.g. pre-release; requests/offers to share or copy, and links to download or bootleg sites are not. Posting Prince and associated artist videos from sites such as YouTube is also not allowed. Posts of this nature will be deleted and repeat offenders will be first warned, and then banned. Troll threads, fake tracklists, and attention seeking rumor threads will be also be swiftly dealt with. These rules are strictly enforced! ----- [luv4u]

"I'm sorry, I had to leave. It got to funky up here."- Prince after "Groove in F ( An Arguement).

Tracklist: Madhouse set

1. Two

2. Three

3. In a Sentimental Mood

4. Sixteen

Prince set:

1. A Conversation
2. Strange Relationship/Dead On It
3. Groove in F (An Argument)
4. The Ballad of Dorothy Parker.
5. Just My Imagination
6. Blues in G with Little Steven and John L. Nelson.
7. Housequake.

This aftershow is simply incredibly. This perhaps is the biggest live discovery since the 84 birthday show. This show is huge for the historical perspective that Prince’s father is actually playing with him on stage during “Blues In G”. Thats the only recorded occasion that I really know about that exists and the fact it’s in board condition is incredible. “Blues In G” wouldn't be the highlight for me though musically. The gems lie in “The Conversation” and the "Argument”. Those are 2 real actual songs but wether that was for a Madhouse project I don’t know. If you listen to the last 3 minutes of “The Conversation” thats part of the instrumental jam that’s found on the http://princevault.com/index.php/15_June,_1987-am . So we can label that show proper now.

It's a soundboard but the quality isn't brilliant (still very grateful to have it, but it's clearly not pristine like Small Club or anything like that.) Haven't given it a proper listen, but I did notice that the file sizes seemed suspiciously small for lossless files (I got it in flac). I dunno how you would check if it's just converted or not though.

Again, not really complaining, I'm sure it's a great listen, just too tired to listen to it atm so these are my inital impressions.

there are two versions out there, one sounds like a low bitrate mp3 converted to FLAC the other is mp3@320 and sounds awesome. Sounds like you have the poorer quality one

It's officially not an "Aftershow". On tour they called it a Madhouse club gig. Unless you want to count P

What I got is lossy.

But it is awesome shit.

It might have a fade here or there that doesn't need to be there.

.

See my aftershow questions in the concerts forum but this stuff is what make them aftershows worthwhile.

Well I see your point.

But my definition (see concerts forum) calls it an aftershow if it is on the same night as a regular concert.

This time they had a concert, then madhouse at the aftergig and then P....

I will call it an aftergig with support act.

But, after studying princevault: http://www.princevault.co..._May,_1987

There was no regular concert on the same evening.

So it was no aftershow. (!?)

Unless you see it as a show after the (non-P) Madhouse set.

Has anyone done a close comparison of the FLAC (allegedly low bitrate MP3) to the other MP3 (supposedly higher quality)? I'm not able to do these comparisons. Does anyone have both versions?

My mp3z says they are 320 kbit and indeed show quite a bit of spectrum in Qmmp.

Don't skip around. Turn the lights down low, turn off your phone, partake in your preferred form of intoxicant (if you're into that kind of thing), turn it up, sit back, and be blown away... wink

The P part appears t obe complete when looking at the Princevault page.

The madhouse part is lacking songs.

I saw that too. Perhaps the Princevault info is wrong, or the Madhouse tracks on the set include snippets of the other songs.

Ah, I see, thanks for the info, guess I better start hunting around for the MP3 version then.
