Why does he change brother Maurice to brother Leviticus during Superfunkycalifragisexy? The reference is a bit odd.

3. In a Sentimental Mood

4. Sixteen

Prince set:

1. A Conversation
2. Strange Relationship/Dead On It
3. Groove in F (An Argument)
4. The Ballad of Dorothy Parker.
5. Just My Imagination
6. Blues in G with Little Steven and John L. Nelson.
7. Housequake.

This aftershow is simply incredibly. This perhaps is the biggest live discovery since the 84 birthday show. This show is huge for the historical perspective that Prince’s father is actually playing with him on stage during “Blues In G”. Thats the only recorded occasion that I really know about that exists and the fact it’s in board condition is incredible. “Blues In G” wouldn't be the highlight for me though musically. The gems lie in “The Conversation” and the "Argument”. Those are 2 real actual songs but wether that was for a Madhouse project I don’t know. If you listen to the last 3 minutes of “The Conversation” thats part of the instrumental jam that’s found on the http://princevault.com/index.php/15_June,_1987-am . So we can label that show proper now.

Counting the four Madhouse tracks (sans Prince), that would be A Conversation which opens the Prince set.

I'm totally blown away, not by the music (just burned a CD - still have to give it a listen...) but by the fact that this show just emerged out of nowhere.

The Vault (Uptown/Per Nilsson's book) doesn't mention it at all, and I don't mean they don't mention that the recording exists, they aren't even aware of an aftershow on 5-21-87 in Munich!

Blown. Away.

Now I will give it a listen and be blown away by the music...

Converstaion clocks in at 20:02 as track 6. This came as track 5 at 6:11. yes it seems out of order or this is just part of Conversation as a seperate track

Either way it's gold

There's a few versions of this floating around in varying degrees of quality. The best one should sound very close to "Small Club". Any version in Flac or lossless is still based from the MP3 source. The extra track you probably have is just part of the "Arguement" but titled "Slammin". I have no idea why someone did that and then mislabelled it. If you have a track on yours titled "Slammin" just delete it. You already have it in the "Arguement".

Just check all my Uptown books: Days Of Wild/Turn It Up 2.0/Documentary

and you're right, there is no record of this recording. This one slipped through the cracks.

The stereo version has leaked and it is pretty awesome! Look forward to it on the next Eye release...

Also, Prince's voice AND guitar are both in top form.

There seems to be a watermark at around 2:00 on Housequake.

The madhouse part is lacking songs.

I saw that too. Perhaps the Princevault info is wrong, or the Madhouse tracks on the set include snippets of the other songs.

Princevault is correct, the first 2 or 3 songs from the madhouse set are not included here

This is really an incredible release, perhaps most important since the Birthday 84 gig as mentioned by the OP.

You have a fantastic soundboard recording, from 1988 no less, of a non-regular gig which means a rare setlist including a fantastic version of Dorothy Parker and Strange Relationship and then throw in the only known live recording of Prince's father John L Nelson playing keys with Prince on Blues in G.

That's funny. I have 10 tracks. "In a Sentimental Mood" is at the beginning of track 3, I think, or maybe it's just missing. (I haven't listened to the whole thing yet.) "Three" is 3:48 and "Sixteen" is 6:46.

Just to clarify--if I should find this in FLAC, I should ignore it in favor of the 320 mp3 version? The contents are the same, though--just the FLAC is drawn from a low bitrate source?

,

Heck, who am I kidding--this sounds more promising than that full Cosmic Day I'm not sure I even believe exists. I'm grabbing anything I find.
