Yep, I think they also messed with the sound (EQ wise) from the original files.

Just to confuse matters I think the shitty version may also be floating about as 320 mp3. U will know when you have the good one anyway as soon as you hear it, you won't need to do any spectral analysis or anything

Yeah, he's not bad what so ever. He didn't play during the Prince set in case you didn't know. Apparently, Dale and Prince really didn't get along or see eye to eye on things. Hence the short tenure he had within the camp.

That's interesting, didn't know anything about him - must have skimmed over any mention of him in Per's books. dunce

So that's Sheila in the Prince set? Listening to Dorothy Parker now and her playing's awesome - better than Small Club I'd say.

Well, I think I've got the good one--cuz this sounds nice. I'm still on the Madhouse set, but I wish it were all there, because I'm enjoying it quite a bit.

Agreed, Madhouse is awsome. ONE is my favourite song of theirs, shame it's missing.

How do we know the titles for these two tracks? Other than the titles showing up on Princevault's page for this show, I can't find any reference to a song called Argument or The Conversation (though there is a "Conversation Piece" for a Prince/Eric instrumental from January 1986--which could be this tune, I suppose)--so is there a written setlist or other source for this knowledge? Do the studio tracks exist in collectors' hands or what?

I've seen this for pre-order on a certain social media page, 3-cd set which says also included are 'exclusive bonus tracks. The bonus tracks are secret before the release date to avoid any leakage on the exclusivity of the bonus'. Nice artwork.

That the way they were labelled on the cassette tape they originally came from. That was from a person that actually knew what the tracks were. So that's where that info comes from. And considering the person, there would be no doubt in terms of questioning the validity of what he labelled.

I saw that as well. I will say that the previous Irukandji releases (Montruex 2013 and the Crystal Ball ) were done quite well, putting out better quality releases than what EYE has been doing. The only complaint with the "Crystall Ball" release is the inclusion of the "Flesh" album. It really didn't belong with the other material and I would've much more preferred to just have a self contained "CB 87" release that would span across those two discs. As much as I love the "Flesh" every time I listen to that "CB" disc I completely skip over the first 4 "Flesh" tracks. But now, I listen to it more in my Itunes and Ipod where i just deleted the "Flesh" material and made it just the "Crystal Ball(1987)" album. I do think EYE did the worst job on pressing the "Flesh" for "BFTP 3.0" The fact thats split between two discs is a complete joke. Now if this was an "EYE" release and they were talking bonus tracks, I wouldn't care at all because it would probably be just rehash. Irukandji has had some interesting releases so far with pretty much exclusive material that none of the other labels had. It also seems they know and care about the material more so than the way EYE does in been putting out releases. Including fake tracks with there releases is really poor and misleading to some fans, who dont really know. Plus their linear notes are pathetic by just ripping off song description for Prince Vault. Like no one at that label, could write a paragraph or teo in their own words about the songs. My guess as to what the bonus tracks would be, would probably be the soundcheck before the show and the missing Madhouse tracks from the Madouse set.

There's so much raw energy and jamming going around during that show, Levi's plays is off the hook and Eric's playing is killer. The sound effects samples also really at to it as well. Such an off the rails jam track. Couldn't agree with you more.

this is a cool release. I suspect it isnt the full show though. Maybe there is stuff being held back, I dunno.

Madhouse jams are great. No complaints there.

A conversation runs for around 20 minutes on the copy I have (I got the mp3 version) but around the 15.17 mark it seems like the track has been spliced together. It suddenly cuts and changes abruptly which doesnt sound like the band suddenly switched. So could this jam actually be even longer? Or is my mp3 buggered?

I dont like Blues in G, I think it sounds like a bit of a mess.

Groove in F is funky as fuck. Loving it, but kept waiting for the band to kick back in. Alas, the 15 minute track is only 8 minutes long with 7 minutes of audience. This track will definately make some playlists. Will just have to cut it in half and get rid of the audience though.

Housequake is missing Mico's guitar. It sounds naked without it. Perhaps he went for a cup of tea?

Just My Imagination is ok. Have heard better versions. Small Club still rules this one.

Strange Relationship is great. Another funky as fuck jam. But it cant touch the Valium version.

Ballad of Dorothy Parker sounds great.

I get the feeling there is more coming with this show. Maybe a few more listens will help, but apart from the great sound, I wouldnt call this one essential listening, except for the fact that he jams with his dad. But that song is pretty messy to my ears. Valium and Small Club are far superior imo.

Irukandi is a label of which I received a flyer that mentions a CD set of this material.

Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry.

Fantastic show.

For me it ranks right up there with Birthday 1984 and Small Club. Sound is amazing and as is the track list and performance.

So how many versions of this set are out there? Low quality MP3 (in FLAC), high quality MP3, and allegedly some other high quality version? This shit is confusing.

Listening now and VERY impressed and also intrigued as well. This is quite a find.

A couple of early observations:

The Madhouse set sounds incredible! The band was ON and played very well. Dale Alexander is a great drummer. Do we realize this is the only live Madhouse that has circulated in soundboard quality? (I think that's true...) For that alone, this release is a treasure.

The first track starts with the drum roll that opens the Madhouse 8 album, but then it goes directly into "Two".

"Conversation" the first rack of the Prince set is a slow builder...gets going and cooking and just smokes! Reminds me in parts of the instrumental that opens the Small Club aftershow from 1988. At one point the "lead line" is from what became "Lines" on Eric Leeds' Time Square album in 1991.

New Morning '86 is perfect as it is... Why the obsession for a perfect pristine sound?
I'll trade a "Soundboard EX" for an "Audience VG-" any day.
Small Club being an exception,

it has a somewhat clinical sound that suits the performance like a glove.
I need the grease, the murkiness that speaks "live".

It's fun to hear that dog bark again. "Be good Rover! Don't U bite no one!".

I must say I'm not to impressed with "2", Levi's all tense, and Eric, well, I get the feeling he's tired.
But when Prince comes in, his guitar seems to give everyone the extra stamina they need.

Ooh, how I missed these "on-demand" band riffs. "Gimme 5", "gimme 2", all that shit.
"A Conversation" is a great discovery.

Sorry Nile Rodgers and others, but the ultimate funk rhythm guitar will forever be Prince's.

A long time ago late 80's there was a women that use 2 mail out list of shows she had >. She had every show on TAPE.This was back around 1991-1992. I have over a 1000s shows(not trying to sell just a FACT! BUT she had them aLL. She did a painting of Prince . He wanted to c it. He was in the room nextdoor but never met her! She was very let down!
