Bart - the real loser is you as you care way too much about another man's business...

And... we have our first Bart basher of the thread! Congratulations on being predictible and unoriginal. Your spot on the bandwagon keeps you in good company though. Enjoy! You've just taken a cheap pot shot because you think it is pretty safe and a "cool thing to do". ...oh, look over there, there is another crowd gathering on another internet thread, maybe you can join the crowd and pretend you were there from the beginning, you internet pioneer, you! Cheers!

This is really the only thing that bugs or irritates me about Prince. All the promises of albums we never get. PR remaster Roadhouse Garden Crystal Ball 2 the albums listed at the back of the One Nite Alone program and so on.... Why even say anything at all about a project until you are a 100% certain it's being released. Just pissing off your hardcore fanbase that would be the ones to buy these albums. The general public could give two shits and don't pay that close attention. So why bother pissing off the ones that really appreciate your music and support you in every release. Hook your loyal fanbase up. Give us Roadhouse Garden Crystal Ball 2 Purple Rain Remaster Deluxe Special Edition. I don't know I guess I'm just tired of empty promises throughout all the years of being a fan. It gets old.

Ok, so we should start a petition to ask them to cover legal costs that will likely cost more than the small profit margin a Purple Rain remaster will bring in? Bad idea. Won't make a difference. Had they done this in 1996-2001 it might have given his career a bit of a jolt...nobody cares now. Except a few die hards here.

Prince will have to pay for the costs when (not if) he loses. So yes, let's start it now.

I'm thinking, we really should do it. It will be another first for the revolutionary artist Prince!

Can you imagine the headlines:

"Fans ask record company to sue their favorite artist"

Warner brothers must have thought they had pr remaster. I just think he is not bothered how he treats the labels. Him releaseing planet earth free when he had a deal with universal, slave etc. He seems like a pain for the record companys to deal with. He definately used pr remaster as carrot to get his new albums released. it is a shame for us fans that we do not get any of older stuff and the money market seems to be there only for live performance rather than albums so money is probably the issue.

While I do think we over-analyze Every. Single. Detail. of Prince's music, you have to admit that Bart's posts are damn-near 99% accurate.

.

Even though he shatters some illusions and crushes some hopes about modern-day Prince, Bart can dissect an Org debate and take the wind out of any false claims or obsessed-fan rantings.

Do you think Price used WB?

He says he is on board with the remaster BUT first you have to release AOA and PE.

They do and he says thanks and walks away.

If I remember correctly the ones that were listed and didn't get released and I believe there were 5 listed. The Last December Greatest Hits of Symbol & Madrid 2 Chicago. I'm not 100% sure if that's correct. Do not have my program handy right now.

Greatest Hits of Symbol. That's hilarious. A one-track single!

It's an interesting discussion up to a point but when either side gets too obsessive it becomes kinda creepy. We're talking about entertainment, not world peace or anything. The guy plays great guitar, but still.

I don't feel deprived of anything because my attitude is that I can't miss what I've never had, period. I couldn't care less if Prince burned it all tomorrow but we would have to open a suicide hotline on this site for some folks. lol

When you have people on this very thread going to the extreme of wishing P would die so they can have his work, you know that some truly sick, twisted, evil stuff is going on.

Even bart ain't trippin that hard.

Prince, in you I found a kindred spirit...Rest In Paradise.

1. He's signed a contract.

2. He's signed a contract which I'm sure does not include 'you can give us censored versions'.

3. He's signed a contract. Remasters do not automatically mean bonus tracks, but this was also mentioned in the press release.

Signed, sealed, and not yet delivered.

He has signed a contract with WB, not with his fans. Even if it's unlikely it authorized him to censor, I would not put it past him to decide that if those are his masters, then he can withold until he gets his wish. Withholding may be perfectly ok under the contract, we don't know.

He may not be able to censor a song on the original album, but I expect him to "finish" his well-known outtakes with this treatment, and it would be allowed. neutral

There were four albums listed:

I was so looking forward to getting four different albums, but instead we only got a pretty good album and three (edited) live performance CDs.

These albums were also used to encourage new memberships for the coming year of the NPG Music Club. Instead, we got that bland live album & piano demos & when I wrote a letter to complain about it, I got a response (from Prince's legal team at the time, no less - which were apparently serving as the fan club's customer service) essentially stating that what Prince chooses to release is entirely within his purview. That is all well & good, however, when he advertises specific content is forthcoming in an attempt to drum up membership, it's a bit more murky. He long ago set the standard on classless business dealings & anyone who expects anything better of him is playing a fool's game.
