Yep, I have an entire Prince shelf in different sections.

The first section is books and box sets. Then 12" vinyl and tour programmes, followed by CD's which are separated into 3 stacks : albums, singles and associated artists. After that there's a stack of DVD's, then the next section is 7" singles and concert tickets, followed by VHS tapes. In front of all of these, there's various bits and bobs like mugs, a box of 3121 perfume, some packets of 3121 incense and a few cassette tapes.

And your bootlegs? boxed

Yup.

There is so much Prince material that it wouldn't make sense to have it mixed in with everything else. Hell, I haven't even gone through all his stuff yet. There's just so much sub-par stuff (demos, non-soundboard boots, etc.) that I don't think I'll ever go through it all.

For my digital music collection, I have added a new genre option. Every artist is classified as the record label set it, accept Prince, who gets the genre of "everything".

Absolutely! I love music in general and have a lot of other artists that I enjoy listening to. But Prince is on top and his own space. For two reasons. Because his music is by far my favorite and I have so much of his stuff. Its organized by year of release, my Prince collection. All my other artits are lumped together and alphabatized.

.

Same here. I keep my Prince CDs in their own dedicated, wooden CD cabinet in one room. All other CDs are in another room on open shelves. Proteges and associates have their own shelf. Prince & protege music is filed chronologically by release date (proteges are also alphabetized)--CDs and maxi-singles together.

.

My non-Prince-related CDs get their own shelf and just get clustered by artist, grouped radomly (and barely touched LOL). No alphabetizing or order of any kind. Good music. Just not my priority.

I have a music collection............then there's my Prince collection. So yeah mine is separated.

.

I have roughly 850GB of Prince material just on my pc. Then there's all the posters, fan mags, vinyl, cassettes, cds, VHS, and DVDs as well. Of course much of the stuff on the pc are duplicates of my hard copy collection.

.

Every few months I get motivated and try to organize all of it. headache

Impressive. I used to have a high GB count myself but one day (in my 40s) i realised i'd probably die before I listened to all that again. There was stuff i realised i NEVER listened to more than once. I had a cull and deleted all my older poor quality bootlegs and just kept the soundboard gigs and A+ sounding studio outtakes. all my physical releases are in the attic these days. I don't miss that clutter either really.

Who among us (REAL Prince fans) wouldnt keep Prince in a seperate section? I have seperate racks to hold my Prince CDs and records (yes, vinyl that I bought when those classic 70s and 80s albums and 12 inch singles were FIRST released). I organize my Prince collection chronologically and by source. Official albums started with For You and go in order up to AOA. Then I have a singles collection with remixes and Bside discs.

THen there is the official first generation Prince production/Paisley Park/NPG Records and related section which is comprised of subsections for each artist (ie. sections for The Time, Vanity, Apollonia, Mayte, Sheila E., Andre Cymone, NPG, The Family, Madhouse, etc).

Now, within those subsections, I have second generation such as Brownmark, Morris Day, Jesse Johnson, Wendy and Lisa, The Girls etc.

Then, it gets even deeper within THOSE sections when I get third generation with Mazarati, TaMara and the Seen, DayZs, DaKrash/Kool Skool

There is a comprehensive section for NPG and Pisaley Park label acts like Dale Bozzio, Good Question, Tony LeMans, Taja Sevelle, George Clinton, Ingrid Chavez, The Three O Clock, Mavis Staples, Eric Leeds, Jill Jones, Carmen Electra

Impressive. I kind of stop caring at the Paisley Park level unless i'm already into the artist. I'll get round to them some day.

Really? Music can be properly "measured" in GBs now? What does that measure even mean to music? Isnt that like trying to a trip in ounces?

Ounces? Kilo's!
It just depends.

Music in mp3 versus flac or ape? It makes a difference in the GB's.

Metal in ounces or grams, depending on buying power or perceived rarity.
